JAMES W. BAIRD
Memorial services for James W. Baird of Villisca, IA, will be held March 12, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Morton's Mill Church in Morton's Mill, IA with the Gordon Thomas officiating.
James W. Baird, the son of Harold and Martha (Stephens) Baird was born December 12, 1939 in Red Oak, IA. He died on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, NE.
James spent his early years in the Red Oak area and later relocated with his parents to northern Iowa. He graduated from Newell, IA, in 1958 and entered the U.S. Navy on June 30, 1958. James served for 20 years and retired May 15, 1979 after obtaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. During James' enlistment, he served as an Aviation Flight Fuel Handler on the USS Kitty Hawk, USS Enterprise and the USS Independence. During his deployment on the USS Enterprise, the carrier caught fire on January 14, 1969 and James and his crewmates manned the fire equipment and helped to save the ship. Throughout his Naval career, he was recognized with many awards and accommodations for exceptionally meritorious service.
James was united in marriage to Bernice Carmicheal on January 13, 1963 in Red Oak. Their daughter, Teresa was born on August 11, 1966 in Marietta, GA. In 1972, they moved to their acreage near Morton Mills. After James retired from the U.S. Navy he attended Hawkeye Technical College in Waterloo. James graduated with honors and then began to drive a semi over-the-road for Elliott Brothers Trucking of Dysart, IA, and for Lorenzen Trucking of Traer, IA. James was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Missouri, along with the Fleet Reserve.
James was preceded in death by an infant brother.
James is survived by his wife, Bernice of the home; his daughter, Teresa Baird of Savannah, MO; and his parents, Harold and Martha Baird of Red Oak, IA; two brothers, Richard Baird and special friend Deb Anderson of Red Oak, IA; and Donald Baird and wife Donna of Arvarda, CO; other relatives and a host of friends.

BESSIE MAE (ANDERSON) MYERS
Funeral services for Bessie Mae Myers of Loveland, CO, were held March 18, 2005, at the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel, Loveland. The Rev. Bill Beard and Rev. James Wade of Valley Assembly of God officiated. Burial was at the Resthaven Memory Gardens north of Loveland. Escorts were Lowell Davis, Danny Dorrance, Ben Dunkin, Dwayne Hummel, Valley Hummel and Eldon Myers, Jr.
Bessie Mae Myers of Loveland, CO, died March 14, 2005, at the Berthoud Living Center in Loveland.
She was born December 27, 1916, near Strand, Adams Co., Iowa, to Marshall (Mike) Anderson and Bessie Mae Olson, Bessie's mother died unexpectedly on January 12, 1917, at the age of 20, leaving their 17 day old baby girl, Bessie Mae. Bessie May was raised by her Grandma Caroline (Larson) Anderson, her Aunt Celia and Uncle Ole Anderson after the death of her mother.
She married Martin Henry Myers on March 16, 1935, at a group wedding ceremony (fourteen couples) at KFNF, the Henry Field Seed Company Radio Studio, Shenandoah, IA, by James Pearson, radio minister. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 1995. They had no children.
The couple farmed in Iowa before moving in 1953 to Berthoud, CO, where they owned and operated Myers Market for several years. They moved to Loveland, and Bessie worked for the Loveland Memorial Hospital and McKee Medical Center in the housekeeping linen department. She retired after eight years.
She was a member of the Valley Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Myers, on November 2, 1998.
She is survived by a stepsister, Maxine Shewman of Atlantic, IA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bessie Mae Myers, 88, of Loveland, Colorado died March 14, 2005 at the Berthoud Living Center.

NORMA TAYLOR
Graveside memorials services for Norma Taylor of Trenton, NE, formerly of Grant, IA, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the Grant Cemetery in Grant.
Norma Taylor died Thursday, February 17, 2005, at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook, NE. Norma Jean Taylor was born August 18, 1921, in Montgomery County, IA, the daughter of Delbert and Ruby (Goss) Campbell. She was raised, educated and lived the majority of her life in Montgomery County.
In 1939, Norma was united in marriage to Stanley Taylor in Red Oak, IA. Norma worked as a cook at the Grant grade school, bookkeeper for the C & T Gas Station, and as a grocery store clerk for the Grant Food Market from which she retired. She was a member of the Grant United Methodist Church. Stanley and Norma moved to Trenton, NE, in 1994 to be near their daughter, Diane.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one infant sister; her husband Stanley Taylor on January 19, 2000; her son Gary Taylor; and grandson Matthew Taylor.
Survivors include her daughter Diane Nealeigh and husband Ron of Trenton, NE; two granddaughters, Nickie Carlson of Griswold, IA and Debbie Pelzer of Grant, IA; one grandson, Jason Peterson of Trenton, NE; seven great grandchildren; sister Thelma Taylor of Council Bluffs, IA; many nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.

WALLY JOHNSON
Funeral services with military honors for Wally Johnson of Sunrise Beach, MO, were held March 15, 2005, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie, MO, with the Rev. Jim Rosemergy officiating.
Wallace "Wally" Johnson died Friday, March 11, 205, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, MO. He was born March 23, 1928, in Essex, IA, the son of Reuben and Mae Royer Johnson.
Wally was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He started his life in Essex, IA, and lived there until 1954. He married Elaine Franzen on June 20, 1954, and moved to Red Oak, IA, where they lived until 1969. They moved to Tucson, AZ, and La Serena, Chile, where Wally worked for AURA. Wally was a member of the Friends of God Unity Church in Sunrise Beach, owned and operated Johnson Construction for 45 years and The Gun Shop for 10 years.
Wally is surved by his wife, Elaine Johnson; a son Chris Johnson of Sunrise Beach, MO; a daughter Stacey Johnson and partner Tommy Dohogne of Vallejo, CA; a brother Raymond Johnson and wife Marianna of Red Oak, IA; a sister Marvis Harms of Red Oak; and a sister-in-law Leona Johnson of Red Oak; and many other relatives and friends.

PAUL GREENFIELD
Funeral services for Paul (Ted) Greenfield of Villisca were held February 26, 2005, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Burial was at the Arlington Cemetery near Villisca.
Paul Greenfield died February 21, 2005, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. He was born October 9, 1910, in Page County, Iowa, the son of Zay and Etta (Vance) Greenfield.
Paul married Leta Beavers November 12, 1938 in Grant City, MO. To this union three children were born: Joe, Jean and Janet. Paul and Leta had farmed near Villisca, before moving into Villisca in 1975.
Paul enjoyed family and friends, spending time at the Villisca Senior Citizen Center, fishing, camping, traveling and planting flowers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Leta, infant granddaughter Jody Haley and grandson Scot Lenz; by brothers Glen, Murl and Charles Greenfield; two infant sisters; and one sister-in-law Marjorie McNerney.
Paul is survived by his children Joe Greenfield and wife Marjorie of Red Oak, IA; Jean Lenz and husband Larry of Nodaway, IA; and Janet Haley and husband Tom of Nodaway, IA; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister Wilma Greenfield of Villisca; sister-in-laws Nona Greenfield of Walters, OK, Esther Roberts of Oregon, Irene Stackhouse of Clarinda, IA and Ardith Earl and husband Neil of Mojave, CA; plus other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial is being established.
DARREL D. ISAACSON
Funeral services for Darrel D. (D. D.) Isaacson of Essex, IA, were held Friday March 4, 2005, at the United Methodist Church, Shenandoah, IA, with Rev. James Gusbser officiating. Burial was in the Summit Cemetery, rural Yorktown, IA.
D.D. died Sunday, February 27, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Care Center, Villisca He was born August 18, 1932, in Yorktown to Julius and Clevia (Hartman) Isaacson.
He grew up in Yorktown and attended Clarinda High School. He helped his father and grandfather in the blacksmith shop in Yorktown. Darrel served in the United States Army during the Korean War. While stationed at Fort Tilden in Long Island, NY, he met and married Ethel Rasmus on December 3, 1954, celebrating 50 years together this past December. Following his time in the army, they returned to the Yorktown and Essex area where he began farming
Darrel was active in the Yorktown and Shenandoah Methodist Churches, teaching high school Sunday School for 12 years. He volunteered many hours working to establish the Page I Rural Water District. He was a member of the board of directors, serving as chairman for 18 years. D. D. was also in Farm Bureau and an active 4-H parent. He attended GI Farm School and was a member of the American Legion and Soil Conservation District.
Preceding Darrel in death were his father, and brother, Gary Isaacson.
Survivors include his wife Ethel of rural Essex, IA; son Curtis Isaacson and wife Wanda of Clarinda, IA; daughter Deanne Isaacson of Lincoln, NE; daughter Jolinda Gowing and husband Kevin of Clarinda, IA; son Kris Isaacson and wife Julie of Plainfield, IL; son Eric Isaacson and wife Lana of Crestwood, KY; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Sandra Emley and husband Don of Manhattan, KS, Julane Borth and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, OK, and Susan Jungman of Council Bluffs, IA; and sister-in-law, Hazel Isaacson of Galesburg, IL.
Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association or to the Education Directors Fund of the Methodist Church, Shenandoah, IA.
