CARL ALBERT JOHNSON
Carl Albert Johnson, the son of Carl F. and Adelia (Lantz) Johnson was born April 20, 1926 in Red Oak, IA. He died on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, IA at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 9 days.
Carl Albert was raised on a farm SW of Stanton and in 1943 graduated from Stanton High School. He entered the U.S. Army in l945 and was honorably discharged in l946. Carl Albert was united in marriage to Norma Patterson on August 20, 1948 in Essex, Iowa. He farmed SW of Stanton until his retirement in December of l988. They then moved into Stanton, IA. Carl Albert was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church, having served in many positions over the years. He was a member of Ernie Johnson Post #406 of American Legion, Stanton Chamber of Commerce, past school board member. Carl Albert was an avid golfer, a big sports fan for his grandchildren and Stanton High School. He had been active over the years with Stanton Baseball Days. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends over coffee.
Carl Albert was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brent Johnson.
Carl Albert is survived by his wife, Norma Johnson of Stanton, Iowa; 4 children and their spouses; Barbara Johnson Frank & Alan of Lincoln, NE, Richard Johnson & Karol of Stanton, IA, Carleen Bruning & Kenny of Stanton, IA, Tim Johnson & Bonnie of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren; Rachel and Sarah Frank, Chris Johnson and wife Caleigh, Brenda Steenhoek and husband Brad, Kent Johnson and wife Stacy, Amy Sallach and husband Jeff, Kelly Bruning, Kevin Bruning, Cyndi Johnson; great-grandchildren, Brady, Drake, Carter & Marleigh Johnson, Denton Roberts and Cameron Sallach, other relatives and many friends.

RUDOLF MEIER
Rudolf Meier, age 88, of Clarinda, Iowa, died Friday, September 9, 2005, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Clarinda, Iowa with Pastor Nathan Dudley and Pastor Jerry Wagoner officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 7-8 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2005 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, rural Yorktown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clarinda Lutheran School or to the donor's choice. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
Rudolf John Henry Meier was born April 17, 1917, in Nodaway Township, Page County, Iowa to William Meier and Rosa (Herzberg) Meier. He was baptized April 23, 1917 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Yorktown, Iowa by Pastor W. J. Horn. Rudolf was confirmed March 29, 1931 by Pastor O. Bahr. He attended the St. Paul Lutheran School, Yorktown, Iowa. On February 9, 1939, he was united in marriage to Bernice Wagoner at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Clarinda, Iowa. Rudolf was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and held various offices through the years. He was a life long farmer and his farm was recognized as a Century Farm. Rudolf thoroughly enjoyed farming and raising livestock. Rudolf also enjoyed being a member of the Plainsmen choral group. He had been a Nodaway Township Trustee for many years and was instrumental in getting a rural fire truck.
Preceding Rudolf in death were his parents; wife, Bernice; infant brother; sister, Alma Sunderman; and brother Arnold Meier.
Survivors include his sons, Elwood Meier and wife Marilyn of Pierce, Nebraska and their children and grandchildren, John Meier and wife Michelle of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Katrina, Abigail, and Alexander; Jay Meier and wife Larell of Pierce, Nebraska and Jakob, Garret, and Larissa; Jeffrey Meier and wife Jennifer of Pierce, Nebraska, and Carter. Curtis Meier and wife Brenda of Clarinda, Iowa and their children and grandchildren, Michael Meier and wife Angela of Clarinda, Iowa and Alyson; Leah Coston and husband Kevin of Clarinda, Iowa and Blaine and Brevin. Dennis Meier and wife Lynn of Villisca, Iowa and their children Daniel Meier and David Meier. Also surviving are sister, Ester Smiley of Clarinda, Iowa; brother, Lorenz Meier of Coin, Iowa; sister-in-law, Faith Wagoner of Clarinda, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harold E. Robinson
Harold Robinson, age 87, of Villisca, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Wolfe Funeral Home, Villisca, Iowa with Rev. Sandra Wainwright officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 7-8 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Villisca Cemetery with military rites.
Harold Everett Robinson was born August 17, 1918 in Montgomery County, Iowa to Vern Taylor Robinson and Belvia Mae (Means) Robinson. Harold was a 1935 graduate of Villisca High School. On November 25, 1941, he was united in marriage to Glenna Mae Freuck at Papillion, Nebraska. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He participated in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. His rank was that of First Lieutenant. Harold began farming in Montgomery County in 1946. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Villisca, Iowa. Harold was also a member of the Villisca V.F.W., American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Robinson; sister, Rachel Lyle. Survivors include his wife, Glenna of Villisca, Iowa; daughter, Judy Mikkelsen and husband Lance of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughter, Joan Schrader and husband Drew of Dataw, South Carolina; son, Jim Robinson and wife Donna of Villisca, Iowa; grandchildren, John Mikkelsen, Mark Mikkelsen, Andrew Schrader and wife Julie, Adam Schrader and wife Michelle, Jodi Robinson, Jennifer Robinson; great grandchildren, Tyler Mikkelsen, Christopher Schrader, Courtney Schrader, and Gavin Schrader.
Memorials may be directed to Villisca EMT or to the Villisca Alumni Association.

Orval Dorsen Mercer
Orval Dorsen Mercer, the son of Otho and Ivy (Baugher) Mercer, was born October 18, 1918 at Arbelia, Missouri. He died on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 24 days.
Orval was raised in Cincinnati, Iowa. He moved to the Red Oak area in l936 and graduated from Coburg High School in l937. He served his country during WW II in the U.S.Army, being involved in the battle at Aleutians. Orval was united in marriage to Norma Larrabee on May 1, 1946 at Hiawatha, Kansas. Orval farmed west of Stanton and drove a school bus for Stanton Community Schools for 20 years. He was a past member of the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406 in Stanton, Iowa. Orval was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Orval is survived by his wife, Norma Mercer of Stanton, IA, a son, Dorsen Mercer and wife Kathy of Stone Mountain, GA, a daughter, Jenice Perez of Adel, IA and her fiancé Gary Barton, 6 grandchildren, Karl Mercer and wife Emily of Athens, GA, Andrea Conlon and husband Dave of SC, Brian Perez of West Des Moines, IA, Renee Fuller and husband Todd of Adel, IA, Aaron Perez and fiancée Judith Martinez of Tempe, AZ, Felicia Perez of Des Moines, IA, 4 great-grandchildren, Grace and Karly Mercer, Emma Conlon and Bella Perez, a sister, Mrs. Opal Mullins, of Boone, Iowa, sister-in-laws, Lillian Mercer of Stanton, IA, Zola & Jim Gowin of Des Plaines, IL, Verna May & Al Farruggia, of Carroll Streams, IL, a brother-in-law, Glen Brownewell of Ocala, FL, other relatives and a host of friends.

IRVIN SIERP
Funeral services for Irvin Sierp 88 of Forest City, Iowa formerly of the Villisca area will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca, IA. Irvin died December 3, 2005 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, IA. He was born July 10, 1917 in Page County, IA the son of Carl J. and Effie Pearl (Fulton) Sierp.
Irvin married Lucille Overman on October 21, 1939 in Des Moines, IA. Irvin and Orie Sierp had owned and operated gas stations and delivered oil in the Villisca , Tenville and other area stations for several years.. He and Lucille moved to Forrest City area where he also operated gas stations and delivered oil. Irvin retired in 1972.
He was a member of the Villisca Presbyterian Church and was currently a member of the Villisca Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife Lucille of Forrest City, son Robert Sierp and wife Marcia of LaCrosse, WI daughter Marlene Huff and husband Marion of Rockwell, IA, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren, plus other relatives and friends.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents two sisters and four brothers.
Memorials may be directed to the Villisca Fire Department or the Hospice of North IA.

GERALDINE HEUER
Geraldine Heuer, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away, Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Geraldine Ilene "Gerry" Heuer was born September 20, 1928 in Bedford, Iowa the daughter of Jay and Anna (Larson) Loghry. She graduated from the Villisca High School. Gerry was united in marriage to Frederick Heuer on November 5, 1944 in Clarinda, Iowa. Gerry lived in Guss, Corning and Villisca areas until moving to Red Oak in 1960. While in Red Oak Gerry owned and operated Heuer Accounting. She and Fred moved to Estes Park, Colorado in 1976 where Gerry managed the Fisher Hunt CPA office until her retirement in 1983. After retirement, Gerry and Fred moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona until returning to Red Oak in March of 2005 to be near many lifelong friends. Geraldine was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers: Earnest and Doyle Loghry; and a sister: Kathern Evison. Survivors include her husband: Fred Heuer of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Diane Gregg and husband Mark of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Shellie Ruge and husband Randy of Peoria, Arizona; Shad Sellers and fiancé Kelly Sharp of Apache Junction, Arizona; David Gregg and wife Stephanie of Berthoud, Colorado; and Mark Gregg and wife Bobbie of Banks, Oregon; 6 great grandchildren; sisters: Connie Loghry and her partner Trudy Gensheimer of Sun Lakes, Arizona; Elva Franklin and husband Russel of Chandler, Arizona; and Dona Wittman of Denver, Colorado; brother-in-law: Francis Heuer and wife Donna of Farragut, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorials services will be held 10 AM Saturday, December 3, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Shultz officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

MARY ELIZABETH JOHNSON
Mary Johnson, age 83, of Clarinda, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 25, 2005 at Westridge Care Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Rev. Dan Wiebesiek officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 7-8 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Guss Cemetery, Guss, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the New Market Methodist Church or to the Maple Grove Methodist Church, Guss, Iowa. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Elizabeth (Thomas) Johnson, daughter of Allie Georgia Hickman Thomas and George Lyman Thomas was born in Union County, Iowa, June 28, 1922. Mary was one of ten children. She graduated from 8th grade in Chicago, Illinois. Mary was united in marriage to L. Albert Johnson on September 22, 1940 at the home of Albert's parents Emma and Wesley Johnson near Guss, Iowa.
They moved to a farm northeast of Guss in Spring of 1941, where they lived for thirty-five years. On the farm Mary raised lots of chickens, a big garden, and loved working with her flowers. She also did a lot of sewing and enjoyed doing crafts.
Mary and Albert had five children: Inez Marie, Doris Jean, Calvin George, Earl Dean and Gail Lee.
Mary was baptized and joined Maple Grove United Methodist Church at Guss, Iowa along with her five children on April 21, 1957. She taught Sunday School here for 15 years, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. In 1975, Mary and Albert moved into New Market, Iowa due to Albert's health and they transferred their membership to the United Methodist Church there on September 9, 1979. Mary was also active in the United Methodist Women at New Market United Methodist Church.
While in New Market, Mary continued enjoying crafts and working with her flowers. Mary has crocheted afghans for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary moved into an apartment at Clarhaven in Clarinda, Iowa in the Fall of 2001, where she still continued to enjoy crocheting baby afghans.
Survivors include daughters: Inez Gray and husband Dale of Clarinda, Iowa, Doris Stamm of Clarinda, Iowa,; sons, Calvin Johnson and wife Nancy of Clarinda, Iowa, Earl Johnson and wife Della of Stanton, Iowa, Gail Johnson and wife Laura of Corning, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; four sisters, Charlotte Smith of Naperville, Illinois, Cleo Creech of Carol Stream, Illinois, Violet Newton of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bonnie Clymer and husband Willardof Ada, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, L. Albert Johnson; three grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; one son-in-law; five brothers; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.

ALBERT E. SCOTT
Albert E. Scott, age 74, of Red Oak, formerly of Monona and Corning
Albert Edward Scott, the son of Clyde C. and Grace A. (Hutton) Scott, was born August 4, 1931 in Marion, Iowa. He died Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 74 years, three months and 22 days.
Al was raised on the family farm near Marion. He graduated from Walker High School in 1949. Al enlisted in the United States Marines in 1950 and served one year as a radio/telephone operator in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1953. He was a life-long member of the American Legion in Iowa.
On January 30, 1954, he married Elaine E. Doerring in Walker, Iowa. Al worked as a carpenter and dairy farmer. He went to work for the National Farmers Organization Dairy Department in 1969, retiring as the Director of the Dairy Department in 1996. While living in Corning, Al owned his own small engine business. Al enjoyed water-skiing, golfing, and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the stock car races in Corning, initially being part of a pit crew and later as an official at the track. Al was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Wagner and Jean Bell; and a son, Mark Scott.
Al is survived by his wife, Elaine of Red Oak; children, Craig Scott and his wife Mary of Viroqua, WI, Gary Scott and his wife Cindy of Malvern, IA, Joanie Sink and her husband Dave of Stanton, IA, Amy Holbrook and her husband John of Corning, IA, Gail Moulton of Grand Canyon, AZ ; grandchildren, Noelle, Ella, Emmett Kehoe-Scott; Mackenzie Scott; Josh, Brett, and Rochelle Sink; Jerad, Jake, and Grace Holbrook; great-grandchildren Isis and Serena Murphy; brother, Keith Scott and his wife Evelyn of Clear Lake, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Carolyn Kay Howard
Funeral services for Carolyn (Kay) Howard 58 of Villisca, IA will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Burial will be in the Villisca Cemetery. A memorial is being established. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca, IA.
Carolyn (Kay) Jean Howard died Saturday, November 19, 2005, at her home in Villisca. She was born March 27, 1947, in Villisca, IA, at the Cooper Hospital, the daughter of Walter and Lessie (Honeywell) Webster. She graduated from the Villisca High School in 1966. After graduating she went to school in Omaha, then came back and worked in Red Oak. She married Ronald Howard on April 21, 1968. To this union one daughter was born; Cynthia Kay.
Carolyn worked at NSK in Clarinda from 1976 until 1984. Moving to Shenandoah in 1980. In 1986 Carolyn went to work for Nishna Production in Shenandoah. In 1988 she moved back to Villisca to the family home, where she helped care for her mother. During this time she drove a truck for various companies, until illness forced her to retire in 1993. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Villisca, IA.
Carolyn's passion was playing the guitar, and singing country and gospel music. She enjoyed going to church and participating there. She also enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors and riding horses.. Her greatest joy was her daughter and grandchildren. Carolyn collected eagles and M & M characters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Beverly and one brother; Bob.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter; Cindy, three grandchildren: Cassidy, Christian and Abraham of Villisca, IA, sister; Pat Irish and husband Bill of Des Moines, IA, brother; Bill Webster and wife Doris of Indianola, IA. Nieces; Sandy Irish of Des Moines, IA, Teresa Smith and husband Gary of Indianola, IA, Connie Campbell of Glenwood, nephews; Adam Webster of Indianola, IA, Tim Baylor and Billy Joe Baylor, plus other relatives and friends.
