Christian K. Anderson
Services: Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2001at 9:00am at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home in Toledo.
Memorial Fund: In lieu of flowers, donations to Batten Disease Support & Research Association, 120 Humphries Dr., Suite 2 Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 are suggested.
Christian Knute Anderson was born January 1, 1951, son of Kenneth LeRoy and Cecilia (Swensen) Anderson. He graduated from UCSD in 1973 and worked as Manager of Information Services for United Leasing in San Francisco, CA for many years. Chris passed away peacefully February 25, 2001 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his mother, Cecilia Anderson of Coronado, CA, his sister Margot, and brother Lars.

Erna L. Anderson
Services: A memorial service is being held on Friday, March 16, 2001 at 10:00am at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home in Toledo, Iowa.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the Munson Hospice, 1105 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684.
Erna L. Anderson was born July 14, 1915 in Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of August and Mary (Steinmetz) Wiebold. She was united in marriage to Stanley A. Anderson on October 8, 1939 in Homestead. Erna was a hospital administrator at the Marengo Hospital in Marengo, Iowa and later was an executive housekeeper at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Erna’s death came on December 21, 2000 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City, Michigan, she was 85 years old. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and was also a member of the National Housekeepers Association and the American Legion Auxiliary. Erna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters: Joan (Mike) Hall of Gig Harbor, Washington, Marcia Anderson of Elk Rapids, Michigan and Sara Anderson of Traverse City, Michigan and four grandchildren.

Charles W. Berry
Services: Visitation is on Tues., Nov. 6, 2001 from 4-7pm. The funeral service is on Wed., Nov. 7, 2001 at 10:30 am. Burial is at Rosehill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
Charles W. Berry was born May 9, 1928 at Newton, Iowa, the son of John Reuben and Dorothy Fern (Mowery) Berry. Charles received his education at Newton, graduating from Newton High School. On June 27, 1948 He was united in marriage to Thelma Stanford at the Presbyterian Church in Toledo. Charles and Thelma then made their home in Des Moines where they operated Berry’s Sundries for many years and Charles worked at John Deere in Ankeny until his retirement. After their retirement they made their home in Oklahoma and Kansas City before later returning to Des Moines. Following Thelma’s death on September 16, 1996 Charles continued to reside in Des Moines and his death came at his home on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at the age of 73 years. He was a member of the ZA GA ZIG Shrine, Gnemeth Masonic Lodge and Valley Junction Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Jane Louise in 1958, wife Thelma, one brother, John and two sisters, Phyllis and Dorothy. He is survived by his children, Susan Stevens, Elizabeth Foster, Karen Hildreth and Charles Berry all of Des Moines, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Florence M. Boldt
Services: Visitation is Tues. Sept. 11, 2001 from 4-7pm at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home. Services will be held Wed., Sept. 12, 2001 at 10:30am at the Christ United Methodist Church-Education Center at 201 E High Street in Toledo. Dr. Francine Green will officiate. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. A luncheon will follow at the church fellowship hall.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
Florence Mae Boldt was born August 30, 1906 in Campbellsville, Kentucky, she was the third of six children born to Abner Thomas Woodrum and America Elbert Breeden. She came to Toledo when she was a year old. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1925 and was qualified to teach in the rural schools. She worked for Anderson’s Restaurant, Woolworth’s, Charles Mrech General Store and Mrech and Omar in Toledo. She married George A. Omar from Dike, in Marshalltown, Iowa on November 26, 1929. He died October 21, 1931. She married James Boldt August 14, 1933 at the Baptist Parsonage in Tama, Iowa and was a homemaker and a helpmate. He died April 2, 1974. She has been active in the Tama-Toledo Senior Citizen’s Kitchen Band for the past 25 years as a tamborinist. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church (Otterbein Center), where she was a long time choir member and a recording secretary for the Ruthean Circle. She was also a member of the Woodlawn Cemetery Association. Since 1932, she lived at the same home on East Grace Street in Toledo. In July 2001 she became a resident of Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. She died Saturday morning, September 8, 2001 following an extended illness. Proceeding her in death in addition to her husbands were four sisters; Cleo Woodrum, Nellie Emmons, Sylvia Jacobs and Bernice McMillan; one brother, Glen Woodrum; and one nephew, Dr. Keith W. Jacobs. She is survived by one daughter, Dolores Mae Harris of Toledo; and a grandson, Troy Allen Harris, of Davenport, Iowa; three nieces and two nephews.

Adolph L. Chizek
Services: 10:30 am Thursday, December 7, 2000 at Christ United Methodist Church Worship Center, Toledo with Pastor John D. Boatman. Burial Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 pm at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home in Toledo on Wednesday, December 6, 2000.

Adolph L. Chizek was born June 13, 1910 in Howard Township in Tama County, Iowa, the son of Joe and Tena (Velhanek) Chizek. Adolph received his education in country school and following the death of his parents worked for area farm families. On January 14, 1935 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Suchy in Tama County. Adolph and Dorothy made their home farming all their married life and for many years on a farm north of Toledo. After their retirement they continued to reside on the farm and in later years have made their home in Toledo. In recent years Adolph has resided in a care center and more recently has been a patient at the Boone County Hospital. His death came at the hospital on Monday morning, December 4, 2000 at the age of 90 years. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the Z.C.B.J. Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Frank and Emil. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Boone, Iowa, three daughters, Jane (Mrs. Larry) Christensen of Osceola, Iowa, Karen Halloum of Ames, Iowa and Bonnie (Mrs. Gary) Grebner of Hampton, Illinois, one sister Millie Kacer of Toledo and three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

William Dolash
Services: Visitation is Thursday, March 29, 2001 from 4-7pm at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home in Toledo. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 30, 2001 at 10:30 am at National Cemetery in Vining.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
William Dolash was born March 8, 1916 near Chelsea, Iowa, the son of William and Josie (Hladky) Dolash. Bill received his education in country school 4 miles west of Chelsea and began working in farming on his own and also for area farmers. He then entered the US Army where he served his country during WW II. After his discharge he returned to farming near Chelsea until his retirement and eventual move to Toledo, Iowa on June 24, 1978. In February of 1997 he became a resident of the Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama where his death came on Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by one brother Floyd Dolash of Toledo.

Mildred Emerson
Services: Visitation is on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001 from 2-6pm. The funeral service is on Monday, Nov. 26, 2001 at 2:00 pm at the Christ United Methodist Church Education Center in Toledo. Burial is at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Toledo followed by a lunch at the church fellowship hall.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
Mildred Emerson was born January 10, 1920, the daughter of Lester and Edith (Miller) Emerson. Mildred spent all of her life in the Toledo area where she graduated from Toledo High School in 1937. She then taught rural school for 8 years and was appointed Deputy County Superintendent on August 1, 1946. When that office was discontinued she worked in the business office of the South Tama County Schools. In July of 1995 Mildred moved from the family home to the Village Apartments of the Community Care Center and in August of 1996 moved to the care center. Mildred’s death came at the care center on Wednesday evening, November 21, 2001 at the age of 81 years. She was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Toledo Rebekah Lodge, and Business and Professional Women. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Russell. She is survived by three sisters, Thelma Jorgensen and Doris (Mrs. Jack) McClure both of Tama and Esther (Mrs. Ralph) Utterback of Toledo.

Merle D. Green
Services: Services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2001 at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama by Rev. Jan Burnett officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2001 from 3-6 PM at the Henderson-Overton Funeral Home in Toledo. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo

Merle Duane Green was born June 3, 1942 at the Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Phyllis (Kenyon) Green. Merle attended school southeast of Montour through the 10th grade and later graduated from South Tama High School in 1961. Merle then farmed with his father during his school years and took employment with Swift Packing Plant where he was employed for 25 years. He was married to Judy Petersen and later to Diane Harmon both of those marriages ended in divorce. In later years Merle made his home in Traer where he was employed at Traer Manufacturing. He then moved to Tama where he has been employed as a cook in the buffet at the Meskwaki Casino in rural Tama until ill health this past year. More recently he has resided at the Grandview Acres in Toledo where his death came on Saturday, December 22, 2001 at the age of 59 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Shirley Hillygus in 1991 and a stepson Chad Harmon. He is survived by his fiancée’ Verona Wood of Tama, a sister and her husband, Patricia and Royce Ewoldt of Waterloo, a son Darin Green of Colorado Springs, Colorado, two daughters Kelli Green of Korea and Jennifer Green of Albion, four step sons, Allan, Jim, Brian and Gary, and one grandchild.

AlDora "Dorie" Hill
Services: No funeral services are planned but family and friends may attend a visitation at the Henderson-Overton Funeral Home in Toledo on Friday, April 13th from 5-8 PM. Burial will be held at a later date at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Memorial Fund: May be directed to the family.
AlDora Leone Brown Hill was born November 5, 1924 at Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of James W. and Velma (Davis) Brown. AlDora was raised in Clarksville and attended school there before moving to Toledo and continuing her education at the National Youth Association. On December 13, 1941 she was united in marriage to Ralph Hill at Iowa City, Iowa. Ralph and AlDora resided in Toledo until 1974 when they moved to Vining, Iowa where they have made their home for the past 27 years. AlDora’s death came on Monday evening, April 9, 2001 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center at the age of 76 years. She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Sharon Ann and Helen Sue, and a brother Andrew Brown. She is survived by her husband Ralph, her children Frances VanMatre and husband Lee of Tama, Barbara Armstrong and husband Dennis of Tama, Jim Hill and his wife Juanita Hill of Chelsea, Jerry Hill and his wife Diane of Toledo, Polly Sokol and her husband David of Toledo, Ann Gilson and Larry of Mauston, Wisconsin and Robin VanDee and her friend Rick Riffle of Tama, 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister-in-laws Nina Brown of Harrison, Arkansas Mae Wogan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph H. Hill
Services: Visitation is to be held on Friday, April 27, 2001 from 2-8pm at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home in Toledo. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 10:30 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, IA

Ralph H. Hill was born December 2, 1922 south of Tama, Iowa, the son of Hiram and Edna (Levis) Hill. Ralph received his education in rural schools near Tama and later attended Tama High School. On January 21, 1943 he entered the US Army serving his country during WW II where he drove ambulance during that time. Following his discharge on December 2, 1945 he returned to the area and on December 13, 1944 was united in marriage to AlDora Brown at Iowa City. Ralph and AlDora made their home in Toledo until 1974 when they moved to Vining, Iowa where they lived for 27 years. During that time Ralph was employed as a truck driver hauling lime to county residents before taking a job as a mechanic at Ford Tractor in Toledo. Ralph then became employed as a mechanic for Tama County where he worked until his retirement. More recently he was admitted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where his came on Monday, April 23, 2001 at the age of 78 years. Ralph was an active member of the Vining community where he served on the Vining Fire Department, serving a term as Chief. He as volunteered at the CSA Lodge Hall and the City Hall for many years. He was a member of the Reinig Friedrichs Post# 72 in Toledo and Tama Toledo Eagles. He was preceded in death by parents, wife AlDora on April 9, 2001, two daughters, Sharon Ann and Helen Sue and two sisters, Agnes Goodhart and Zenaid Davis. He is survived by two sons and their wives, James and Juanita Hill of Chelsea, Iowa and Jerry and Diane Hill of Toledo, five daughters, Frances VanMatre and husband Lee and Barbara Armstrong and husband Dennis both of Tama, Ann Gilson and her special friend Larry Langer of Mauston, Wisconsin, and Robin VanDee and special friend Rick Riffle and Polly Sokol and husband David both of Toledo, one sister Mae Wogan of Marshalltown, 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
