LONGSETH, MARY LOU was born October 18, 1940 in rural Butler County, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Holm) Doddema. She married Stuart Longseth on November 17, 1959 at Fredsville Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls, Iowa. Mary was a 1958 graduate of Dike High School. She worked in the Environmental Services Department for 12 years at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls and was a licensed beautician. Mary died Sunday, January 6, 2002, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, at 61 years of age.
She is survived by her husband, Stuart of Cedar Falls; her daughter, Pam Longseth of Waterloo, Iowa and her fiance Kelly Nordman; two brothers, Floyd Doddema of Des Moines, Iowa and Dale Doddema of Cedar Falls, and three sisters, Gloria Abbas of Dike, Iowa, Marcia Bengen of Junction City, Oregon and Wanda Nielsen of Dike, Iowa.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Violet May Johnson and two brothers, Ernest Doddema in infancy and Paul Doddema.
Memorial services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Dike, Iowa. A memorial fund will be established.

LOSASSO, STEVEN N. was born November 18, 1962 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Stanley and Yula (Leach) Losasso. He married Catheryn Purnell on June 17, 1988 in Denver, Colorado. Steven was a team leader with Affina in Waterloo, Iowa. He died Thursday, December 18, 2003, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa, at 41 years of age.
Steven is survived by his wife, Catheryn, of Cedar Falls; his father, Stanley Losasso and his mother and step-father, Yula and Melvin Losasso, all of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Angela Griggs and a cousin, Jeanne Jensen, both of Denver, Colorado, and two nieces.
Memorial services were 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2003, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Habitat for Humanity.

LOTT, DR. FRED W. JR., 85, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, February 24, 2003, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Center in Cedar Falls. Fred was born October 8, 1917 in Cherry Fork, Ohio, the son of Fred W. Lott, Sr. and Margaret Greene Lott. He married Kathryn Deever on December 20, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio. Fred served with the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WW II. He received his A.B. and B.S. degrees, magna cum laude, from Cedarville College in Ohio and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from the Univ. of Michigan. Fred was both a Professor of Mathematics, 1949-1984, and the Asst. Vice President for Academic Affairs, 1971-1984, at the Univ. of Northern Iowa. Fred was also a consultant for Rath Packing Company and the Dept. of Defense.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Diana K. (Carl) Anderson of W. Des Moines, Iowa and Patrician S. Lott (Alan Lincoln) of Seattle, Washington; two grandchildren, Julie Ann (Denis) LeRoy and Dorothy Sue (John) Walker; five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Kathryn and Samantha LeRoy, Devan Melberg and Autumn Walker; three sisters, Betty Lou (Dick) Miller, Peg (Herb) Muenstermann and Nancy (Viru) Henry; and a nephew, Dr. Anil Henry.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dr. Fred W. Lott III; four brothers, Bill, Charles, Bob and Jack Lott; and a nephew, Ajit Henry.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of East Central Iowa, 2101 Kimball Ave., Suite 125, Waterloo, IA 50702 or The Dr. Fred W. Lott, Jr. Scholarship Fund, The University of Northern Iowa Foundation, Cedar Falls, IA.

LUCAS, JAN KAY was born January 13, 1953 in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Warren J. and Kathrine (Brandau) Towley. She married Roy Lucas in Black Hawk County, Iowa, in June of 1974. They later were divorced. Jan married Jim Webb in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1990. They were later divorced. She was a 1971 graduate of Dike Community High School and worked at Arthur L. Davis Publishing Agency, in Cedar Falls for 20 years, most recently as the sales training manager. Jan loved her family and friends, and enjoyed relaxing at her second home near Harper’s Ferry, Iowa. She died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, at 49 years of age.
Jan is survived by her three daughters, Arisha Lucas, and twin daughters, Tasha and Kiesha Lucas (fiancé Tony), all of Waterloo; one grandchild, Erin Telfer of Chicago, Illinois and two grandchildren on the way, Kayden Lucas and Taylor Stefancik; her mother, Kathrine Towley of Waterloo; her special friend, Jim Axline; a sister, Jil Minikus (special friend, Kenny Herrmann) of Waterloo; two brothers, Jay Towley of Waterloo and Jon Towley of Grundy Center, Iowa; four nephews, Jed (Renee) and Seth Minikus, and Jacob and Sean Towley; a great-niece, Breann Minikus and a brother-in-law, Stan Minikus.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. A memorial fund will be established.

LUND, IVAH C. was born February 1, 1920 in Mays Prairie, Iowa, the daughter of Walter W. and Ella (Gramlich) Fritz. She married Arthur C. Lund on September 10, 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Ivah was a 1938 graduate of Edgewood High School and was a beautician for many years in the metropolitan area. She died Tuesday, December 15, 1998 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at 78 years of age.
Ivah is survived by her husband Art, of Cedar Falls; her three sons, Doug of Belvidere, Illinois, Larry of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Curtis of Sidney, Nebraska, and her four grandchildren, Andrew and Rachael Spencer and Quintinn and Alex Lund.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Mary J. Lund.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 1998 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls.

LUND, LINDA was born December 27, 1917 in Makoti, North Dakota the daughter of Ferdinand and Bertha Beyer. She married Paul Wray in 1945 in Cedar Falls, Iowa and they were later divorced. She married Anton Lund on November 27, 1960 in Waverly, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1971, Linda had been a nurse at Sartori Memorial Hospital, the Western Home and the Lutheran Home and then was employed as a Night Hostess in the dormitories at U.N.I. until retiring in 1980. She died Thursday, June 15, 2000 at her home at 82 years of age.
Survivors include her son, Steve Wray of Cedar Falls; one brother, Leander Beyer of Makoti, North Dakota and two sisters, Edna Farsdahl of Homer, Alaska and Racine of Eugene, Oregon.Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Melvin Beyer.
Memorial Services were 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. A memorial fund will be established.

LUSTHOFF, CHARLES M., was born September 30, 1923 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Viola (Smith) Lusthoff. He married Loma Y. Holmes on October 25, 1945 in Waterloo. Charles served with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in the European Theatre during W.W. II. He was a machinist at John Deere & Company in Waterloo for thirty years, retiring in Department 27 in 1976. Charles was a volunteer with the Community Meals Program and was a member of the Talon Chapter of the 101st Airborne Association and the U.A.W. Retirees, and was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Cedar Falls. He died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, at 76 years of age.
Charles is survived by his wife Loma, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his son, Timothy C. Lusthoff and his wife Katherine of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Valerie Jessen and her husband Bob, of Austin, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Jason Jessen, and Ajay, Indira, Sasha, Ian and Petronella Lusthoff, and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Tran and Angela Oberle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at the United Church of Christ, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.

LYNCH, DAVE , 87, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born February 18, 1916 in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Roy and Catherine (Bagen) Lynch. Dave married Catherine Hutton on November 28, 1945 in Meridian, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on October 12, 1997. Dave was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theatre of Operations during WW II. He worked for 45 years at John Deere & Company in Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in 1981. Dave was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls and was a member of UAW Local 838.
He is survived by his children, Cathy (Tom) Hagarty of Cedar Falls, Gene Lynch of Cedar Falls and Mary (Jim) Hach of Palm Springs, California; five grandchildren, J.B., Scott & Katie Lynch, and Laura & Ben Ingamells; a brother, Pat (LouAnne) Lynch of Waterloo and a sister, Marian Paul of Cedar Falls.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife and parents; two sisters, Ruth Ann DeBill and Marcella Damge, and a foster brother, Oliver Larkin.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 9, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family.

LYONS, EDWARD E. , 50, of Waterloo, Iowa, died of cancer on Monday, September 6, 2004, at Harmony House Health Care Center in Waterloo. He was born November 24, 1953 in Waterloo, the son of Kenneth and Barbara (Van Nice) Lyons. Ed was a 1972 graduate of Waterloo West High School and had been working at Goodwill Industries until the time of his illness.
He is survived by his step-mother, Charlotte Lyons, of Waterloo and his step-father, Allen Benson, of Waterloo; a sister, Cheryl (Jeff) Voelschow of La Porte City, Iowa; four brothers, Michael (Janet) Lyons, Scott (Leigh Ann) Lyons, Kenneth C. “K.C.” Lyons and David (Cindy) Lyons, all of Waterloo; and several step-sisters and step-brothers.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nicolette Lyons and a brother, Randy Lyons.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004, at Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Harmony House Health Care Center in Waterloo.

LYONS, GEORGIANA was born September 8, 1922 in Ida Grove, IA., the daughter of Harry E. and Cora Irene (Jenks) Amidon. She married Edward F. Lyons on March 31, 1943 in New York City, NY. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1978. Georgiana was the Senior Citizen Director for the Cedar Falls Recreation Dept. for 12 years and a Library Aide at Valley Park School for 6 years. She was a member of Chapter R-PEO, a member of the Altar & Rosary Society at St. Patrick Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Patrick School. Georgiana died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, IA., at 79 years of age.
She is survived by her children, Georgia Smith of New Hartford, IA., Mary Balanda of Winter Park, FL., Beth Lyons of Woodbury, CT., Terry Brix of Ankeny, IA., Peg Lyons of Kansas City, MO. and Larry Lyons of Cedar Falls, IA; eight grandchildren, Jeff and Todd Smith, Angie Sorrell, and Catherine, John, Tommy, Danny and Sarah Brix, and four great-grandchildren, Sonya Block, Justin Sorrell, Alex Smith and Haleigh Sorrell.
Georgiana was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two brothers, Richard and Robert Amidon and a sister, Virginia Bratton.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001 St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with private inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
