Alabama School Yearbooks by State and County

PRIMROSE, DEAN was born December 12, 1940 at Webster City, Iowa the son of Bill and Vivian (Peters) Primrose. He married Beth McKee September 6, 1961 at Webster City. Dean received both his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Northern Iowa. He received Emeritus status with the College of Education at UNI having taught at Northern University High School from 1973 until 2002. Dean was past president of the Cedar Falls Rough Risers Kiwanis Club in 1986-1987 and was also on the steering committee of Teacher Education Convocation at UNI. He died Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of 62 years.
Survivors include his wife, Beth of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Peggy (Clark) Taylor of Plymouth, Minnesota and Polly (Brad) Jacobson of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Lauren Taylor and Sawyer Jacobson; and two sisters, Claudia (Arlo) Van Diest of Webster City and Pat (George) Mesik of Blue Springs, Missouri. Dean was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2002 at the United Church of Christ in Cedar Falls. A private family inurnment was at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mayo Foundation (for Multiple Myeloma research), the church, or the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota.

PUTZIER, BRADY CHARLES was born February 23, 1977 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Charles and Cheryl (Westlake) Putzier. He attended Cedar Falls High School and was attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Brady died Saturday, January 2, 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia at 21 years of age.
He is survived by his parents of Pensacola, Florida; his brother Damon of Augusta, Georgia and two sisters, Molly Toot of Nevada, Iowa and Amy Healey of Ames, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Paul and Donna Westlake of Des Moines.
Brady was preceded in death by his brother Matthew and his paternal grandparents, Cliffard and Helen Putzier.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m.Thursday, January 7, 1999 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial at Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to M.A.D.D., Dubuque/Jackson County Chapter, 30805 216th St., Bellvue, Iowa 52031.

Randall, Joan J. was born June 24, 1933 in Cedar Falls, Iowa the daughter of Russell and Anna (Chessmore) Hundley. She married Ernest “Skip” Randall on August 30, 1952 in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1971. Joan graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1951 and was a member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Auxiliary. She died Monday, February 21, 2000 at her home at 66 years of age.
Survivors include her three sons, Ronald Randall and James Randall, both of Bellevue, Nebraska, Shawn Bancroft of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Gloria Smith of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Jamie & Jeff Smith and Ryan, Aaron, Joe, Laura and Stephanie Randall; her great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Smith; one brother, Donald Hundley, and three sisters, Beverly Boeck of Janesville, Iowa, Alice Wilson of Waterloo, Iowa and Dixie Hundley of Cedar Falls.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2000, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorial fund will be established.

RASMUSSEN, JAMES D. was born February 27, 1940 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of N. Chris and Blanche (Patterson) Rasmussen. He married Susan Broad on August 6, 1960 in La Porte City, Iowa. They were later divorce. James married Nancy (Demmel) Dorsey on November 26, 1982 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. He was a 1958 graduate of Hudson High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. James farmed for many years in rural Cedar Falls and owned Rasmussen Enterprises, which raised turkeys and manufactured turkey loading equipment. He was also the owner of J & N Storage in rural Cedar Falls. James enjoyed racing stock cars and restoring classic cars. He died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at his home in rural Cedar Falls, at 62 years of age.
James is survived by his wife, Nancy of Cedar Falls; four daughters, Colette (William) Johnston of Stanhope, Iowa, Colleen (Richard) Wrage and Lorelei (Daniel) Buechler, all of Boone, Iowa, and Sherry (Doug) Booth of Branson, Missouri; a son, Rick (Phong) Dorsey of Hudson, Iowa; his mother, Blanche of Madrid, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew & Melinda Johnston, Emily & Holly Wrage, Lance & Samantha Dorsey, Christopher McConnel and Ryan & Jamie Booth; a brother, Lowell (Kristin) Rasmussen of Glenwood, Minnesota and a sister, Elaine L. Rasmussen of Spring Lake, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson. A memorial fund will be established.

RAY, MARTHA, 86, of 7517 University Ave. in Cedar Falls, was born February 14, 1913, in Kjellrup, Denmark, the daughter of Michael and Petrea (Petersen) Christiansen. She came to the United States in 1922 when she was nine years old. Martha married Lynn R. Ray on June 16, 1934 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1976. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Nazareth in 1927. Martha died Monday, January 3, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.
She is survived by her two sisters, Christa Langskov of Cedar Falls and Elna Shaw of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband and parents; four sisters, Marie Olesen, Magna Olesen, Frederika Beck and Metha Hansen; and two brothers, Adolph Petersen and Martin Christiansen.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

RAY, SARAH M. BOLTZ was born April 8, 1929 in Brandon, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Grace (Roster) Marter. She married Elmer Boltz May 1, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1984. She married Arnold S. Ray December 3, 1994 in Waterloo, Iowa. Sarah was employed at Adam’s Grocery for 37 years retiring in 1991. She died Saturday, January 15, 2000 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, at 70 years of age.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold of Waterloo; one daughter, Linda Luck and her husband, Clyde Sr., of New Hartford; three grandchildren, Clyde Luck Jr., and his wife Carla, Michele Luck, and Marla Mashek; two great grandchildren, Chad and Conor Luck; one stepson, Larry Ray and his wife, Lana, of Red Oak, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Fecht and her husband, Al, of Bonne Terre, Missouri; four step grandchildren, Joseph Stacy, Tamara Lawsen, Kristen Hughes, and Johnathon Ray; four step great grandchildren, Jacob and Devon Stacy, Logun and Shawntel Hughes; one brother, Merv Marter of Viola, Minnesota, and one sister, Darlene Arrieta of La Quinta, California.Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and two brothers, Walt and Les Marter.
Services: Tuesday, January 18, 1999 at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church with burial in Beaver Grove Cemetery, New Hartford.

REESE, CLAIRE was born October 31, 1917 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Edward J. and Bertha (Klein) Quinn. She married Leonard T. Reese, the love of her life, on May 5, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1991. Claire was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory Academy in Waterloo. She died Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, at 83 years of age.
Claire is survived by her four daughters, Kay DeJaeger of Waterloo, Jacquie Reese of Rye, New Hampshire, Camilla Briggs of Denmark, Iowa and Bridget Daniel of St. Simons Island, Georgia; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, her brother, Russell Quinn of Chatsworth, California and her sister, Louise Kirsch of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a son, Jimmy P. Reese and a daughter, Dorothy R. Edeker; a great-grandson, Christopher Edeker; five brothers, Jim, Dick, Dale, Tom and Dr. John Quinn, and two sisters, Sue Kemp and Annette Wolff.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2000, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Sterling House, 5101 University Ave., Cedar Falls, Iowa 50613.

REESE, FRANCES I. "JEAN" , 80, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls. Jean was born May 26, 1923 at Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Raymond P. and Amy Helm. She married William Leach and he later preceded her in death. Jean married Glenn Reese on January 10, 1976 at Rochester, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2002. Jean was the secretary to the President of Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, Michigan and also worked for a Trust Company in Rochester, Minnesota. She later worked out of her home as a professional china painter. Jean was a past president of the Cedar Falls Woman’s Club. She also was a member of the National Association of China Painters and was a former officer with the Iowa China Painters Association.
She is survived by her two sons, William R. (Michelle) Leach of Naples, Florida and John G. Leach of Rochester, Minnesota; a step-son, Dennis (Margaret) Reese of Iowa City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jeffrey H. Leach of Naples, Florida, Erin A. Leach of Tampa, Florida and Barbara (James) Larson of Austin, Minnesota; a step-granddaughter, Lucy Reese of Iowa City; two great-grandchildren, BreeAnna and Autumn Larson of Austin, Minnesota, and three sisters, Mary Hays and Joyce Miskill, both of St. Joseph, Michigan and Florence Jones of Abilene, Texas.
Jean was preceded in death by both husbands and her parents; a sister, Ruth Gardner and a brother, James Helm.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church.

REESE, GLENN M. was born January 6, 1914 in Union, Iowa, the son of Burl S. Mackie and Ida Pearl Reese. He married Lalieth Prothroe on July 12, 1946 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 7, 1975. Glenn married Jean Helm Leach on January 10, 1976 in Rochester, Minnesota. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II. Glenn was a Service Administrator with John Deere & Company for many years, retiring in 1976. He later worked for many years for Iowa Diesel Injection Service in New Hartford, Iowa, retiring in 1990. Glenn was a member of the Elk’s Club in Waterloo, Iowa and the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. He died Saturday, November 16, 2002, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at 88 years of age.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Jean, of Cedar Falls; a son, Dennis (Margaret) Reese of Iowa City, Iowa; two step-sons, William R. (Michelle) Leach of Naples, Florida and John G. Leach of Rochester, Minnesota; a granddaughter, Lucy Reese of Iowa City, Iowa; six step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and a half sister, Burlene Keith.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, with intermenty at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

REINICKE, WILMA MARGARET WALTERS , was born on June 11, 1923 at Aplington, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Lena (Brinkman) Walters. She married Harold A. Reinicke on November, 11, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Wilma died on Saturday, January 9, 1999 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa at age of 75 years.
She is survived by her husband, Harold of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two daughters, Becky Geerdes of Cedar Falls and Ruth Mick of Waverly, Iowa; five grandchildren, Neil, Nathan, Nicolaus, Elizabeth and Leah; one adopted daughter, Rosemary Kreb and family of Hazelton, Iowa; one brother, Henry Walters of Charles City, Iowa and three sisters, Lela Uhlenhopp, Evelyn DeVries and Merna Koppedreyer all of Aplington, Iowa.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, George, Walter and Richard Walters and three sisters, Gertrude Sealman, Swanetta Haeffner and Dorris Druvenga.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 1999 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington, Iowa. Memorials to Christian Crusaders and Nazareth Lutheran Church.

REIS, DANIEL was born May 16, 1919 in Napoleon, North Dakota the son of Joseph and Mary (Kraft) Reis. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Daniel married Maxine Keinast on October 15, 1947 Aberdeen, South Dakota . He was employed with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Aberdeen for 30 years retiring in 1976. He was a life member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the 14th Armored National Association. Daniel died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo at the age of 81 years.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine, of Waterloo: two sons, Bruce Reis of Missoula, Montana and Mark Reis of Waterloo: 7 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters: 4 brothers, John of Aberdeen, Joe of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Al of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Mike of Anaheim, California; and three sisters, Margaret Dutenoffer of Aberdeen, Odelia Burgod of Long Beach, California, and Mary Reis of Denver, Colorado.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Peter Reis; and three sisters, Madge Anderson, Francis Reis, and Barbara Reis.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo with Military Rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

REKERS, THELMA M. was born on June 18, 1908 in Center Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Earl H. and Mary K. (Leech) Stingley. She married Russell V. Rekers on July 30, 1935 at the First United Methodist Church in Davenport, Iowa. Thelma was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and the University of Northern Iowa. She taught school at Buffalo Center, Whitten and at Peet Jr. High School in Cedar Falls for many years. Thelma was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Meriam Circle, Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, American Association of University Women and the National and County Retired Teachers Associations. She died Tuesday, December 15, 1998 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa at 90 years of age.
Thelma is survived by her sister, Faye Gowan (Al) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and two grandchildren, Scott Braucht (Mary) and Marcy Braucht both of Madison, Wisconsin; two great-grandchildren, Drew and Derek Braucht.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her son, Donald Rekers.
Private services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 21, 1998 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Memorials to Sartori Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

RELLIHAN, ROBERT “BOB” was born May 27, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Frank J. and Alice (Martell) Rellihan. He married Mary B. Cullen May 23, 1953 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Bob served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He received his B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa in 1949 and received Masters Degrees from Drake University in 1956 and from the University of Illinois in 1968. Bob taught public school in Iowa for 37 years including 30 years at Cedar Falls High School retiring in 1986. He was past President of the Cedar Falls Education Association. Bob died Monday, July 8, 2002 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo at the age of 78 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Cedar Falls; five daughters, Cindy Gomis of Cedar Falls, Denise (Kurt) Mattison of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Marcia Rellihan (Steve Styron) of Waterloo, Patty (Don) King of Cedar Falls, Anna (Eric) Schilling of Marco Island, Florida; twelve grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and one sister, Bernice Swift of Dubuque, Iowa. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald Rellihan and one sister, Evelyn Hubbard.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002 at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church, the UNI Foundation, or the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
