WINTERS, JUDITH "JUDY" KAY was born June 28, 1944 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin M. and Ardath L. (Rohrer) Hall. She married Robert “Bob” M. Winters on May 2, 1964 in Waterloo. Judy was a 1962 graduate of Waterloo East High School and worked at Neal’s Fashions in Waterloo for several years. She also was a volunteer for the Allen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 10 years. Judy died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, at 57 years of age.
She is survived by her husband, Bob of Waterloo; her son, Troy M. Winters and her sister, Becky Platte, both of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the Allen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Wirth, Eugene “Gene” Ross died Sunday, June 16, 2002 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa after a 23 month battle with lung cancer. Eugene was born in Waterloo, Iowa June 25, 1926, son of Ross L. and Elsie Krueger Wirth. He attended Waterloo schools, graduating from East High in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was recalled during the Korean War each time as Radio Dispatcher on a Destroyer. He was united in marriage to Darlene Worley on April 2, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa. He worked for Northwestern Bell, US West, Quest for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was the Manager of Central Offices in NE Iowa.
Eugene (Gene) is survived by his wife Darlene; two sons, David Eugene and Carol, his wife, and children Andrew and Allie Wirth; Dr. Michael Jay and Laurie, his wife and children Megan and Kelly Wirth; and one daughter, Cindy Lou and her husband Dr. Dick Nemmers and children, Ben and Jamie Nemmers. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Frances Manahl.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be given to the Cedar Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
WIRTH, SHIRLEY A. 74, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa. She was born May 28, 1930 at Waterloo, the daughter of Clyde G. & Mina M. (Latimer) Harden. She married Robert E. Wirth April 20, 1958 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death January 15, 1975.
Survivors include her son, Blane (Janet) Wirth of Shakopee, Minnesota; her daughter, Monique (Richard) Heddens of Cedar Falls; one grandson, Jared (fiancée Patricia Campbell) of Cedar Falls; and her sister, Wanda (Robert) Newby of Cedar Falls.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at Nazareth Lutheran Church with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund will be established.
WOGENS, VONEE HEIL was born September 1, 1913 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Leo and Grace (Parr) Heil. She married Carroll A. "Chick" Wogens on November 29, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1990. Vonee was a secretary at the University of Northern Iowa for many years, and was an active member of Tri-T, Alpha Phi Society and the Cedar Falls Woman's Club. She died Saturday, May 26, 2001 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at 87 years of age.
Vonee is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Budlong of Cedar Falls and Charlene Davis of Columbia, South Carolina, and four grandchildren, Blair, Ryan, Austin and Scott Budlong. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Memorial services were 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church, with inurnment at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church and the Salvation Army.
WOLF, DONALD E. was born December 30, 1925, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Lidia (Garland) Wolf. He married Dorothy E. McRoberts July 31, 1948 at South Sioux City, Iowa. He worked for Illinois Central Rail Road as a carman for forty two years. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Donald died Monday, October 13, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa, at the age of 77 years.
Donald is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sons, Robert Lynn (Sandra) Wolf of Cedar Falls, Iowa and John Raymond (Wendy) Wolf of Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Sandra Marie Burch of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Sharon Kay Russell of Evansdale, Iowa; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grand children; one brother, Richard (Christa) Wolf of Waterloo and one sister, Juanita Flancha of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wilbur Wolf and one great grandchild, Samantha Tigges.
Funeral services were Thursday, October 16, 2003, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family.
WOODRUFF, MARGARET was born, March 16, 1903, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Anne (Rasmussen) Michaelsen. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1920. Margaret attended ISTC (UNI) after which she taught schools in Chickasaw County for five years. She graduated from Gates Business College in 1926 and then began her employment at Herrick Refrigerator Company of Waterloo. She worked there from October of 1926 to June of 1972, retiring as assistant sales manager. Margaret married Theodore (Ted) Woodruff November 15, 1975. He preceded her in death December 27, 1986. Margaret died, Sunday, October 5, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, at the age of 100 years.
She is survived by her step daughter, Norma Sue (Bill) Pfeiffer of Indianapolis, Indiana and nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Thorvald, Theodore, Harold and Martin in infancy; three sisters, Thyra Dixon, Dagmar Pedersen and Maren in infancy.
A Prayer Service was 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Lutheran Home Chapel and a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the church or the Lutheran Home.
WOODS, GERTRUDE A., 50, of Davenport, died Monday, February 12, 2001, at her home. Cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy. Gertrude was born March 22, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of L. D. “Bud” and Synnove (Petersen) Woods. She was a Media Specialist at Wood Elementary School in Davenport.
Gertrude is survived by her parents of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her sister, Melissa McCulley.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2001 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. A memorial fund will be established. Inurnment will be at a later date.
WOODS, LORENZO "BUD" was born July 6, 1929 at Cambridge, Iowa, the son of John & Chjoldvor (Braun) Woods. He married Synnove Petersen August 29, 1948 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Bud was employed by John Deere & Company at the John Deere Experimental Farm for many years. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, he square danced with the Promenaders and the Haylofters, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Bud died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home at 74 years of age.
Survivors include his wife, Synnove Woods, of Cedar Falls; one brother, Robert (Marie) Woods, also of Cedar Falls, and many nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Melissa McCulley and Gertrude Woods; one sister, Kathy Weltruski and one brother, Sam Woods.
Services were 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2004 at First United Methodist Church with cremation following the service and inurnment at a later date at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund will be established.
WREDE, WILLIAM "BILL" F., 75, of Hudson, Iowa, died at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa on Sunday, April 18, 2004. He was born September 12, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Elmer and Edna (Wohlsdorf) Wrede. He married Florence Ann Gutknecht October 30, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson. He worked for Mead Container (Weyerhaeuser Company) Waterloo, Iowa for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He then worked for Land O’ Lakes in Hudson, retiring in 1990.
Bill is survived by his wife, Florence of Hudson, Iowa; two sons, Steve (Gretchen) Wrede of Denver, CO. and Ross (Renee) Wrede of Beaverton, Ore.; one grandson, Philip Wrede of Denver, CO.; two brothers, Jacque (Shirley) Wrede of Coarsegold, CA. and Robert (Darlys) Wrede of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, LaDonna Patterson of Waterloo, Iowa and Doris (Earl) Shepard of Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, Iowa, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to Cedar Valley Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church.
WYMORE, KENNETH R. "DICK" was born January 8, 1924 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Kenneth R. and Ellen C. (Welch) Wymore. He was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and served as a corporal in the 29th Division Headquarters Military Police during W.W. II. Dick was a veteran of the Middle Eastern, African and European military campaigns, and was present during the D-Day Invasion at Normandy, France. Following the war, he married Elma Weltz on April 4, 1948 at Grace United Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Dick was an assistant manager for S.S. Kresage Department Store in Waterloo and Streator, Illinois; was a route salesman for Jewel Tea; owned the Mobil station at Rownd St. and Hwy. 218 in Cedar Falls and was a driver for H & W Motor Express for 27 years, retiring in 1985. He was a lifetime member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and the D.A.V. of Webster City, Iowa. Dick was also a member of the 29th Division Retirees and the Teamsters Local 844. He died Friday, December 1, 2000, at Cedar Falls Healthcare Center, at 76 years of age.
Dick is survived by his wife Elma of Cedar Falls; his two sons, Kenneth R. Wymore II of Waterloo and Scott J. Wymore of Stout, Iowa; his daughter, Alice E. Neith of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and five brothers, Keith and Roger Wymore, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ronald Wymore of Ottumwa, Larry Wymore of Clearwater, Florida and Robert Wymore of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents.

YARGER, WRAY L. 81, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center. He was born October 20, 1922 at Massena, Iowa the son of Neal & Belva (Hawks) Yarger. He married Helen Way September 7, 1940 at Grant City, Missouri. Wray served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a Sales Engineer for Kies Electric in Waterloo for 29 years retiring in 1985. Wray taught for the Junior Engineering Society at Cedar Falls High School, was a life member of the Elks Club, and was also a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Yarger, of Cedar Falls; four daughers, Carolyn Jones of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Janet (Larry) Fish of Minden Nevada; Diane (Brian) Foster of Auburn, California; Julie Manning (Bob Manning), both of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Andrea & Teresa Jones and Andrew & Lexa Mannining; and two brothers, Glen Yarger of Boone, Iowa and John Yarger of Massena, Iowa. Wray was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mildred Follman.
Memorial services were 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2004 at the Western Home Chapel with inurnment at a later date in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the Western Home Communities.
YOUNG, MARCELLA MARIE was born June 24, 1925 in New Hartford, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Edna (Church) Shoemaker. She married Duane Simpson in 1943 in Texas and they were later divorced. She married Frank Young September 19, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa. Marcella was employed at John Deere for 33 1/2 years retiring in October of 1981. She died Monday, November 1, 1999 at her home at 74 years of age.
Survivors include four sons, Harry Simpson, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Robert Simpson, Wells, Maine, Richard Kramer, Traer, Iowa, and Kenneth Young, Cedar Falls, Iowa; one daughter, Carolyn Young, Cedar Falls, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, one stepson, Paul Young, Camden, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Leila Dolon, Phoenix, Arizona, and 6 step grandchildren. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one stepdaughter, Linda Young.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 1999 at Valley View Baptist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the church.
YOUSEFI, DR. MAHMOOD, PhD, was born September 27, 1939 at Naragh, Iran, the son of Hassan and Najmieh (Fazeli) Yousefi. He married Rachelle LeRoux on July 20, 1968 in Nevada. Dr. Yousefi was a graduate of Cal State University, Sacramento, and received his masters and doctorate from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He was the Department Head of the Economics Department at Pah Lavi University in Shiraz, Iran. He was a Visiting Professor in Economics at the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado, and Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He was Full Professor in Economics for 18 years and served as acting assistant vice president for Academic Affairs at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Dr. Yousefi died Thursday, December 9, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, at 60 years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Rachelle Yousefi of Cedar Falls; his children, Michael of Davis, California and Carolyn Yousefi of Rio Vista, California; his mother, Najmieh Yousefi and his brother, Ahmad, both of Tehran, Iran; and his sister, Saghar Yousefi Sahrai of Orangevale, California. Dr. Yousefi was preceded in death by his father, Hassan; two brothers Namat and Shapour Yousefi; and a sister, Iran Yousefi.

ZEARLEY, LAVERA E. was born February 14, 1919 at Strawberry Point, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Lena (Pfranger) Niehaus. She married Earl D. Zearley on February 9, 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa. LaVera worked at the former Waterloo Concrete, Smith Candy and Wood Products companies before retiring in 1968 as Vice President of Courtesy Finance Company in Waterloo. She died Sunday, December 13, 1998 at her home in Waterloo at the age of 79 years.
LaVera is survived by her husband Earl, of Waterloo, one step-son Lary, of Waterloo and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Thelma Schuchmann and three brothers, Louis, Raymond and Bernard Niehaus.

ZIKUDA, HELEN A. was born July 26, 1913 in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel C. and Ida F. (Bergman) Kratz. She married Jerry J. Zikuda on April 20, 1940 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1984. Helen worked in the cafeteria at East Waterloo High School for twelve years, retiring in 1974. She died Friday, February 22, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at 88 years of age.
Helen is survived by her son, J. D. Zikuda and his wife Syb of Atlantic, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jennifer D. Zikuda and Jessica D. Zikuda, both of Atlantic, and Justine D. Zikuda of Des Moines, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Parker and Cora Zikuda, and two sisters, Loretta Mustard of Yakima, Washington and Dorothy Slifka of Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two sisters, Mae Vernette Kratz and Marjorie Bronner and three brothers, Leonard, Glen and Roger Kratz.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2002, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. A memorial fund will be established.
Zimmer, Donald “Ernie”, 53, of 7825 Ford Road died Sunday, April 14, 2002 at his home of natural causes. He was born December 26, 1948 in Charles City, Iowa the son of Donald V. and Katherine (Simmons) Zimmer. Mr. Zimmer graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, and was employed at Kay Park Industries in Janesville.
Survived by: his partner, Judy Holm of Cedar Falls; her son, Darald Holm at home; two sons, McCaine of St. Louis, MO and Damon of Overland Park, Kansas; a daughter, Alana Zimmer of Minneapolis, MN; two brothers, Michael Wheeler of Ashburn, VA, and David Zimmer of Mabel, MN; and four sisters, Deborah Hughes and Renee Russett, both of Frankville, Iowa, Kim Hageman of Cresco, Iowa, and Lesia Stuelke of Cemter Point, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Terri and Tammi, both in infancy.
