GRUNDY CENTER -- George Frost Wilheim, 84, of Grundy Center, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at the extended care unit of Grundy Memorial Hospital of natural causes; survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Anne; and a brother, Harold "Curt" of Cincinnati; private family services are planned; Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, is in charge of arrangements; memorials to the George F. Wilheim Trust in care of Grundy National Bank; Mr. Wilheim graduated from Iowa State University in 1937, and after graduating went to work for R. S. Bacon Veneer Co., becoming executive vice president of the firm in 1945; in 1963 he led an employee buyout of the firm, becoming its chairman.
SHELL ROCK -- Arlo H. Walters, 86, of Shell Rock, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center from complications of Alzheimer's disease; survivors include his wife, Lillian of Waverly; a son, Gordon of Waverly; a stepson, Tim Allen of St. Cloud, Minn.; three stepdaughters, Sheila Albrecht and Penny Marlette, both of Shell Rock, and Deb Hamilton of Waverly; five grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose; a son, Dennis; and a sister, Esther Christophel; services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Shell Rock; friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday; visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church; memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be established at a later date; Mr. Walters farmed, worked for Larkin Construction Co., and later worked at the Shell Rock elevator until retirement.
