WATERLOO -- Virginia Davey, 86, of Kelseyville, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Sutter Lakeside Hospital, Lakeport, Calif., of natural causes.
She was born July 12, 1912, in Waterloo, daughter of William and Madonna Greenside Burton. She married Clarence Davey. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Davey was a schoolteacher for the Los Angeles School District for 25 years.
Survived by: a brother, Dr. Ralph Burton of Lakeport; and two sisters, Charlotte Hinson of Waterloo and Margaret Byers of Chula Vista, Calif.
Preceded in death by: a brother, Robert Burton; and two sisters, Minerva Riley and Jean Stuelke.
Graveside services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Calif. Chapel of the Lakes, Lakeport, is in charge of arrangements.

WASHBURN -- Ira D. Ellsworth, 74, of Manor Care Center, Waterloo, formerly of 314 Third St., died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at the center of natural causes.
He was born March 6, 1924, in St. Joseph, Mo., son of Ira and Laura Jackson Ellsworth. He married Betty J. Barman on Nov. 14, 1943, in Waterloo.
Mr. Ellsworth was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II in Italy and Brazil. He had worked at Schultz Manufacturing, Miller Medical and VGM Associates, retiring in 1996.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Richard D. of Washburn; two daughters, Becky Jo Hall of Sigourney and Cinda Sue Miller of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy of Mason City; and four sisters, Edna McDonald and Issolee Hunt, both of Califonria, Helen Bates of Arizona and Alice Tillman of Montana.
Preceded in death by: a brother, Lloyd; and two sisters, Cora McDonald and Velma Ellsworth.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories, both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Wednesday at the chapel.

WATERLOO -- John Paul Weber, 82, of 3720 Village Place, Apt. 5203, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Gilbertville, son of Frank and Elizabeth Nisius Weber. He married Dorothy A. Bovy on Oct. 8, 1941, in Eagle Center.
Mr. Weber farmed in the Orange Township area, retiring in 1982, and was a charter member of St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Survived by: his wife; a son, John of Dysart; four daughters, Joyce Ann Griesbach of Milwaukee, Wis., Janice Marie Schultz of Minneapolis, Linda Marie Craft of Ankeny and Carol Ann Pope of Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three sisters, Margaret Bovy, Betty Weber and Gertrude Gearhart, all of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by; a granddaughter; three sisters, Lucille Curran, Mary Vogel and Monica Williams; and three brothers, Bernard, Paul, and an infant, Robert.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 3 p.m. senior citizen's rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. LA PORTE CITY -- Mayme C. Gill, 94, formerly of 603 Main St., died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.
She was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Benton County, daughter of Henry and Anna Frahm Lassen. She married Frank J. Gill on Feb. 10, 1925, in Eagle Center and they later divorced.
Mrs. Gill was employed as a janitor at the La Porte City Elementary Schools and at the La Porte City Library. She was a founding member of the La Porte City Artist Association and was a local artist.
Survived by: three sons, Thomas of Fayetteville, Ark., Mark of Waterloo and Gregory of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Ann O'Connor and Marion Spence, both of La Porte City, and Karen McIntyre of Milton, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: two sons, Jack and James; four brothers, Ernie, Severt, Everett and LeRoy Lassen; two sisters, Elsie Brandt and an infant; and a grandson.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in West View Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Huisman Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service.

WATERLOO -- Pearl A. Ertl, 75, of the Western Home, Cedar Falls, formerly of 315 Walnut St., died at the home Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, of heart failure.
She was born April 21, 1924, in Ortonville, Minn., daughter of Louis and Sarah Coughlin Van Erem. She married John B. Ertl on June 8, 1946, in Des Moines. He died Jan. 28, 1965.
Survived by: a daughter, Louise Schmadeke of Waterloo; a son, John B. of Waterloo; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Wahl and Myrtle Schafer, both of Waterloo; and a brother, Bill Van Erem of Chicago.
Preceded in death by: a granddaughter; two brothers, Robert "Pinky" and Duane Van Erem; and two sisters, Inez DuCharme and Virginia Pardes.
Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

WATERLOO -- Duane Fraser, 70, of Chowchilla, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Madera Hospital, Madera, Calif., after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Bradford, son of Ronald and Clara Neubauer Fraser. He worked as a foreman in the cotton mills for years.
Survived by: his wife, Marie; a son, Ron of Livermore, Calif.; a daughter, Diane Baron of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren; his mother, Clara of Waterloo; and two brothers, Darrell of Imboden, Ark., and Donald of Buckeye.
Preceded in death by: an infant brother, Dwight.
Services: were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warden Funeral Home, Chowchilla.
WATERLOO -- Ardith R. Henderson, 43, of 250 Cottage Grove Ave., died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 16, 1955, in Waterloo, daughter of Edmond and Wilhelmina Richmond Austin. She married Mack R. Henderson on Dec. 24, 1977, in Waterloo.
Mrs. Henderson was employed by the Iowa Department of Corrections for 15 years as a residence officer.
Survived by: her husband; a son, Mack III of Waterloo; three daughters, Wilhelmina B., Mactonia J. and Mactonya J. Henderson, all of Waterloo; her father of Waterloo; her stepmother, Virginia Austin of Waterloo; three brothers, Joseph Austin of California, Kenneth Boyd of Waterloo and Myron Boyd of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Annie Butler of Atlanta, Ga., and Conchita Burkett of Baltimore, Md.
Preceded in death by: her mother; and three brothers, Jim and Kent Boyd, and Paul T. Austin.
Services: were 11 a.m. today at Payne Memorial AME Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Sanders Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

CEDAR FALLS -- Larry F. Mikesell, 57, of Clive, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Des Moines of heart disease.
He was born in Knoxville. He was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and was employed as a credit union examiner for the state of Iowa Credit Union Division for nearly 30 years.
Survived by: his wife; and a sister, Virginia Parker of Glendora, Calif.
Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home, Des Moines, with inurnment at a later date.

WATERLOO -- Joseph Mellen, 83, of Moberly, Mo., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, of at home natural causes.
He was born Feb. 3, 1916, in Bellville, Kan., son of Andrew and Arminta Stilwell Mellen. He married Harriet P. Bandfield on June 13, 1941, in Waterloo. She died in 1984.
Mr. Mellen retired from Orscheln Co. as a press operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survived by: two sons, Larry of Fulton, Mo., and Lynn of Keyville, La.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester of Tucson; and special friend, Judy Kirchhoff of Renick, Mo.
Preceded in death by: five stepbrothers, Leon, William, David, Earnest and Robert Fike.
Services: were Tuesday at Cater Funeral Chapel, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, both in Moberly.
WATERLOO -- Katherine Marie Stevens, 85, formerly of 2503 Randolph St., died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, of Mitchellville Care Center, Mitchellville, from a blood clot to the heart.
She was born July 22, 1914, in Independence, daughter of Carl and May Dusman Wolfe. She married Howard Stevens on Sept. 26, 1938, in Independence. He died April 18, 1997.
Survived by: a daughter, Nancy Huber of Ankeny; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bette Greco of Oelwein and Dorothy Ketchmart of Cheyenne, Wyo.
Preceded in death by: two sons, Jerry and an infant; a granddaughter; and two brothers, Herb and Carl Wolfe.

WATERLOO -- Nora E. Durns, 90, of Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the center of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 4, 1908, in Hartford, S.D., daughter of Anton E. and Sigrid "Sarah" Lilleland Anderson. She married John N. Durns on Dec. 15, 1929, in South Dakota. He died in 1967.
Survived by: three sons, John of Tucson, Jerry of Waterville, Wash., and Norman of Waterloo; a daughter, Betty Hundley of LeGrand; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Anderson of Marion and Norman Anderson of Idaho; and a sister, Alma Ritter.
Preceded in death by: three sons, Richard "Dick," Royce and Melvin; a daughter, Nora Lucille Stewart; a brother, Norman Anderson; two sisters, Gladys Forseth and Hilma Benning; and a granddaughter.
