WATERLOO -- James M. McIntee, 74, of Richmond, Ill., formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at North Illinois Medical Center, McHenry, Ill., of natural causes.
He was born June 14, 1924, in Waterloo, son of Patrick and Mildred Stewart McIntee. He married Mary Brady on Nov. 20, 1948, in Osman, Wis. She died Feb. 22, 1985.
Mr. McIntee attended John Marshall Law School, Chicago, and was a practicing attorney in McHenry and Richmond from 1954 to the present.
Survived by: two daughters, Mary C. Riley of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Susan M. Schwieger of Cedar Falls; a son, William F. of Richmond; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Hansen of Darwin, Minn., and Margaret Marcks of Uncasville, Conn.
Preceded in death by: a sister, Katherine Peros; and two brothers, William and John.
Memorial services: 11 a.m. May 27 at St. Joseph Church, Richmond. Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, Richmond, is in charge of arrangements.

WATERLOO -- Omar A. Lett, 80, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at ManorCare Health Services from complications of Parkinson's disease.
He was born March 28, 1919, in Poplar Grove, Ill., son of Charles A. and Jennie Olson Lett. He married Grace "Helen" Kingman on Sept. 28, 1946, in Cedar Falls.
Mr. Lett was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 19th General Hospital in Europe. He attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and completed his graduate work at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He taught at Waterloo junior high and high schools for much of his 28-year career, retiring in 1976.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Steve H. of Mount Laurel, N.J., and Charles A. of Nixa, Mo.; three daughters, Jennifer Ann Lett of Haddon Heights, N.J., Cynthia M. Tanner of Fenton, Mo., and Marianne Grace Clark of Parkersburg; and 11 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: an infant son, Allan; and an infant brother.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church. Friends may call for an hour before services at the church. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. The casket will be closed. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.

GILBERTVILLE -- Marie Josephine Schares, 72, of 6339 Gilbertville Road, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at home of cancer.
She was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Milo, daughter of Henry and Rosa Yager Dittmer. She married Jerome V. Schares on Sept. 20, 1950, in Milo. He died Oct. 17, 1971.
Mrs. Schares and her husband farmed in the Gilbertville area.
Survived by: four sons, Larry, Kevin and Arnold, all of La Porte City, and Dale of Gilbertville; four daughters, Sister Roxanne Schares SSND of East Africa, Betty Conrad of Washburn, Karen Munson of Waverly and Janelle Blanchard of La Porte City; 16 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and a great-grandchild; five brothers, Albert Dittmer of Raymond, Jerome Dittmer of Lacona and Bernard, Sylvester and Gerald Dittmer, all of Milo; and a sister, Berniece Dittmer of Des Moines.
Preceded in death by: two brothers, James and Paul Dittmer.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, where there will be 3 p.m. Senior Citizen's rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

CEDAR FALLS -- Erin Olga Hallberg, 22, of Cedar Falls and McGregor, died Sunday, Oct. 3, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Prairie du Chien, Wis.
She was born Jan. 2, 1977, in Prairie du Chien, daughter of Lynn and Cathi Corlett Hallberg. She was a 1995 graduate of MFL MarMac High School and was a senior at the University of Northern Iowa.
Survived by: her mother and father, both of McGregor; a brother, Daniel Hallberg of McGregor; a sister, Audra Hallberg of McGregor; two stepbrothers, David Bacon of Winona, Minn., and Ryan Bacon of Garnavillo; and her grandparents, Ralph and Olga Corlett of McGregor, Marie Hallberg of McGregor, and Ray and Jeanne Werges of Garnavillo.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, rural McGregor, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home, McGregor, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
WATERLOO -- Marvel J. Frazee, 53, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 3, at Covenant Medical Center of cancer.
She was born Jan. 30, 1946, in Waterloo, daughter of Matthew and Esther Reyer Anderson. She married Harry E. Frazee on Nov. 24, 1986, in Dubuque.
Mrs. Frazee was a 1964 graduate of Waterloo East High School.
Survived by: her husband; three sons, Lance Kilby of Texas and Ralph and Raoul Kilby, both of Waterloo; two stepdaughters, Dawn Frazee of Waterloo and Kristy Frazee of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Mike Anderson of Waterloo and Randy Anderson of Woodward; and two sisters, Marilyn Frank of Waterloo and Marge Amos of New Hartford.

CEDAR FALLS -- Mattie J. Jungling, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 2, at Parkview Garden Care Center, Waterloo, of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Butler County, daughter of Wubbo and Minnie Ahlers Jans. She married John W. Jungling in 1939 in Waverly.
Survived by: her husband; two sons, Henry of Fredonia, Wis., and Jim of Fruitland, Idaho; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Jans of Parkersburg.
Preceded in death by: three brothers.

JANESVILLE -- Elaine Ruth Johnson, 66, of Janesville, died Sunday, Oct. 3, at home from complications of cancer.
She was born June 19, 1933, in Oelwein, daughter of Elston and Neva Gleason Chapin. She married Merwyn E. Johnson on June 29, 1952, in Janesville.
Mrs. Johnson was past president of UMW and of Bremer County Girls 4-H. She also gave organ and piano lessons in Bremer, Black Hawk and Chickasaw counties for 40 years.
Survived by: her husband; a daughter, Kristi Danielson of Spring Grove, Minn.; three sons, Kirk and Eric, both of Allison, and Aaron of Janesville; seven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and a stepgreat-grandson; and three brothers, Stan Chapin of Waterloo, Mark Chapin of Bozeman, Mont., and Gordon Chapin of Corwin Springs, Mont.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Janesville United Methodist Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. WATERLOO -- Roger Dennis Knudsen, 52, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 4, at Allen Hospital of cancer.
He was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Fremont, Neb., son of Dennis C. and Ada M. Fauss Knudsen. He married Rhonda Ann Guttau on Jan. 3, 1969, in Treynor.
Mr. Knudsen had been employed by the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as manager of technical services since 1969. He was a graduate of Milford Technological School, Milford, Neb.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Chris of Des Moines and Jeff of Waterloo; a daughter, Debbie Knudsen of Waterloo; a grandson; his mother and stepfather, Ada and Don Brown of Fremont, Neb.; and a sister, Diann Tompkin of De Forest, Wis.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Orchard Hill Reformed Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation also from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and for an hour before services at the church.

JESUP -- Rocky R. Fratzke, 39, of Jesup, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in Las Vegas following a heart attack.
He was born Aug. 2, 1960, in Waterloo, son of Robert W. and Eleanor J. Harting Fratzke. He married Dawn L. Jeske on July 23, 1983, in Eldora.
Mr. Fratzke was a 1978 graduate of Jesup Community High School and graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology, Waterloo. In 1978 he worked in the hog-buying department at Rath Packing Co., Waterloo, then was employed by Fairchild Feed and Supply Inc., Winthrop, as a hog buyer. He then worked as an independent buyer through Timber City Livestock, Independence, before becoming an in-house plant hog buyer for IBP inc., Waterloo. He was currently employed as a hog buyer for Wiechman Pig Co. and the Hormel Co., managing the La Porte City buying station. He also farmed and was president and part owner of Hill Top Hogs Inc., Jesup.
Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Jenna and Kayla Fratzke, both at home; his parents of Jesup; two sisters, Ronda Fratzke of Jesup and Robin Peterson of Center Point; paternal grandmother, Grace Fratzke of Jesup; and maternal grandmother, Dorothy Harting of Jesup.
Preceded in death by: grandfathers, Kurt Fratzke and Walter Harting.

WATERLOO -- Dorothy Kowall, 77, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah, of natural causes.
She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Waterloo, daughter of Glenn and Mildred Smith. She married Dr. Rex Smith. He preceded her in death.
Survived by: two daughters, Kimberley Rankin of Barrington, Ill., and Barbara Treschitta of Salt Lake City; and two grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: an infant sister, Marion Smith.
Services: were handled by Garner Funeral Home, Salt Lake City.
WATERLOO -- Lori Ann McCann, 38, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Allen Hospital; the cause of death is pending an autopsy report.
She was born Nov. 3, 1961, in Waterloo, daughter of Joseph and Betty Reed McCann. She had worked at state parks in Missouri.
Survived by: a sister, Linda Kay McCann of Arkansas; two brothers, Jimmy McCann of Waterloo and Randy Eugene McCann of Phoenix; and her second mother, Alice Wiese of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Steve James and Ronnie Lee McCann; and a sister, Diane Lou Zimmer.
Memorial services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Family Funeral Care, where the family will greet friends for an hour before services. Private burial was in Garden of Memories.
