WATERLOO -- Merton "Pat" L. McDougall, 85, of Waterloo, died at home today, Feb. 13, 2003, from a sudden illness; services pending with Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, 233-3393.

WATERLOO -- Wallace "Wally" M. Lown, 81, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Rosewood Estates of natural causes; services 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery; full military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31; visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, 233-3393, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil; visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

WATERLOO -- Roberta Verne Oxenford, 101, of Rosewood Estate, formerly of Scranton, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Allen Hospital; services 2 p.m. Saturday at Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home, Scranton, (712) 652-3350, with burial in Scranton Township Cemetery; visitation 11 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home; memorial fund has been established and may be sent to the funeral home, 906 Grant St., Scranton 51462; a niece, Lucille Burow of Waterloo, is a local survivor.

WATERLOO -- 1st Sgt. Thomas "Dick" Beaumont, 77, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Allen Hospital of natural causes; services tentatively set for Feb. 21; arrangements handled by Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, located at the corner of Ansborough Avenue and San Marnan Drive, 232-3235; memorials to the family.

CEDAR FALLS -- Janis J. Alexander, 69, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Western Home Communities Martin Center of natural causes; family-directed memorial services 2 p.m. Saturday at the Western Home Communities Chapel, with inurnment at a late date in Noll Cemetery, Columbia City; the family will receive friends in the East Solarium of the Western Home following memorial services; Richardson Funeral Home, 266-3525, is in charge of arrangements; memorials to Western Home Communities.

LA PORTE CITY -- Frances C. Anderson, 90, of 1073 X Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, after a brief illness; services 1 p.m. Friday at Huisman Funeral Home, (319) 342-3131, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City; visitation 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home; memorials to the family for various charities.

Hickman, 39, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Allen Hospital; memorial services tentatively set for Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 232-3235, located at San Marnan and Ansborough, with inurnment at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

OELWEIN -- Myrtle R. Fitzpatrick, 97, of Oelwein, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Oelwein Health Care Center after a short illness; services 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, both in Oelwein; visitation 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, (319) 283-4922, with a 4 p.m. rosary by Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a 7 p.m. parish Scripture service; memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic School, Oelwein.

POSTVILLE –- Ernestine W. Haltmeyer, 92, of Postville, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Waukon, after a brief illness; services 10:30 a.m. Friday at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, with burial in the Postville Cemetery; visitation 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, (563) 864-7252.

CHARLES CITY –- Mary Damjanovic, 83, formerly of rural Charles City, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Faith Lutheran Home, Osage; services 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Charles City; visitation an hour before services Friday at the church; Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, (641) 228-4211, is in charge of arrangements.
