CLARKSVILLE -- Raymond Ackerman, 69, of Clarksville, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at home from complications of a long-term cancer illness; survivors include his wife, June; three daughters, Mary Ann Hinders, Sandra Rae Miller and Pamela Jean Ackerman, all of Clarksville; five grandchildren; four sisters, Alma Sprague and Lois Sharp, both of Waterloo, Arlene Clark of Clarksville and Evelyn Beenken of Parkersburg; and two brothers, Ivan of Clarksville and John of Denver; he was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Rinerson; and an infant brother, Verle Lee; memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ, with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville; there will be no visitation; Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, is in charge of arrangements; memorials may be directed to the family; Mr. Ackerman retired from Rock Island Railroad in Clarksville in 1976 due to health.

MANCHESTER -- Joseph John Tucker, 84, of Manchester, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness; survivors include his wife, Doris; three sons, Jim of Monticello, Jerry of Earlville and Dick of Manchester; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Grace Miller and Dorothy Tucker, both of Monticello, and Luella Sternhagen of Hopkinton; and three brothers, Melvin of Monticello, and Eldon and Kenneth, both of Hopkinton; he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet; an infant granddaughter; a brother, Elmer; and a sister, Viola Moriarity; services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester, with burial in the church cemetery; friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester, where there will be a 5:30 p.m. Scripture service and a 6:30 p.m. rosary today; Mr. Tucker farmed in the Worthington, Monticello and Greeley areas until 1974; he worked for Hutchison Lumber, Delaware, for 10 years before his retirement.
