Funeral services for John who died at home Monday will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Tonini Chapel.
John worked for RTL Equipment. He will be missed by his loving wife of 17 years Judy, his sons, John Leedy and Matt Williams, a sister, Dorothy Schatzberg, a brother, David Leedy and a large extended family.
James Allen Kolner
Des Moines
James Allen Kolner, 59, died June 10,at Kavanagh House on 56th Street. A memorial gathering will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd. in Clive.
Jim was born in Chicago in 1947. In the 1960's, he pursued an Electrical Engineering major at the University of Iowa. He served in the United States Navy in 1967-69 aboard a ship in the Mediterranean during the Vietnam War. He then returned to Iowa City and worked on the team that developed the Hawkeye Satellite which was launched in 1978. He worked in commercial computer sales/service in the 1980’s and later managed IT service teams in several companies in Des Moines, Denver and Louisiana.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Hodge; his sister, Kathy Godard of Ashland, OR; his stepdaughter, Penny Layish of Columbus, OH; his granddaughter, Ellie of Columbus; and his son, Brian Kolner of Duluth, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kavanagh House Hospice, 56th Street, Des Moines.
John Consolver

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM May 8, 2006 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation will be 3 to 8 PM with a 7 PM Wake service May 7th at Tonini Chapel for John Consolver, 79, who passed away May 5, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center.
John was born on Des Moines south side to Lee and Mary Consolver October 21, 1926.
He served his country during WWII in the Navy.
John was an over the road truck driver, retired from Allied Building Products and was a career entrepreneur, he was a courier for Iowa Title Company after retirement. John loved spending time with his family and friends, camping, fishing, gardening and dancing.
John will be missed by four children; Patty Consolver, Bev (Dennis) Belieu, Sheryl (Kevin) Burch and John (Jeannette) Consolver, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grand children and a long time companion Helen Schooler. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane (Whitehurst) in 1995.

Visitation for Hope Brooker, who passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Tonini Chapel. She is survived by her sons, Bruce, Ron (Charlene), Ken (Karen), Charles (Nancy); and eight grandchildren.

James Willis Bingman, 95, died June 12 at the Madrid Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Dallas Center. Willis is survived by wife, Cleeta; sons, Paul (Suzanne), formerly of Waukee and Jim (Rhonda) of Madrid; daughters, Gay Mann of Milford and Vicki (Lance) Harmon of Madrid; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Madrid Volunteer Fire Department or Madrid Home.
Mary Tometich
Altoona
Mary Tometich, 78, passed away at CLC of Altoona. A mass of christian burial will be held on Wedneday, at 10 a.m. at the Saints John & Paul Catholic Church in Altoona. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care University Chapel on Tuesday, with a wake service at 6 p.m. Mary was born in Numa, Iowa. She was a retired book keeper from the Hotel Fort Des Moines.
She will be missed by her brother, J.J. "Tommy" (Doris) Tometich, West Des Moines; one sister, Anna Easley, Rochester, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Mildred, and her brother, Joe of Moline, Illinois.
Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to her church.

John (Jack) Strodtman, 80, died of Cancer, Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jeanine; two sisters; two sons; a daughter-in-law; and three grandchildren.
Mildred Lee

Mildred Alice Lee, 93, died Thursday May 4, 2006 at Valley View Village. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m.on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Westkirk Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Michigan.
Mildred Alice was born in Ludington , MI. and resided in Waterford, MI as well as Des Moines. She managed an apartment complex until the age of 76, was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Waterford, and a member of the Harvesters. She wrote poetry and enjoyed knitting.
Mildred’s immediate survivors include her daughter Kay (Richard) Cunitz, from Clive, IA; her son, Kenneth (Chris) Lee, from Grand Haven, MI.; 3 grandchildren, Karen (Bob) Stopek, David Cunitz, and Ken (Erin) Lee; along with five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernest M. Lee in 1993.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Valley View Village.
James A. Schulte
West Des Moines
James A. Schulte, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday June 10th, after a brief illness with cancer of the lung. It was Jim's wish for his body to be donated to Des Moines University. Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 1627 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines. A memorial gathering will be today , June 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 13, at 11 a.m.
Jim was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1920 to Bernard and Belle Schulte. He attended the University of Minnesota and served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII.
Jim had an extremely successful career with NCR that spanned 42 years until his retirement as District Manager in 1987. One of the highlights of his career was his role in the development of the debit card concept.
He was active in Rotary, President of Golden K Kiwanis, President of the Kiwanis Foundation for twelve years, and awarded for his fundraising efforts. Jim was an avid golfer and longtime member of Des Moines Golf and County Club. He enjoyed large family gatherings, vacations with friends and family, a lake home in northern Wisconsin, and winter retreats in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Jim is survived by his "bride" of 61 years, Kathleen (Kay) and was the proud father of nine children: five sons and four daughters, Patrick (Julie) of Des Moines, James E. of Minneapolis, Paul (Sue) of Madison, Steve (Joanne) of San Jose, Robert (Vicky) Santa Ana, Kathy Condit (Mike) of Madison, Peggy Fullmer, (Robert) of Milwaukee, Mary Jo Brink (Eduardes) of Los Angeles, Sharon Stremke (Kirk) of Eden Prairie. Jim is further survived by 22 grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
On behalf, the family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the caring and devoted medical staff of Des Moines Veterans Memorial Hospital.

His devotion to family and unique personality will be truly missed by all who knew him. His children will treasure his memory and value the many lifelong lessons he provided.
John W. Carr
Des Moines
John W. Carr, 92, of Heather Manor died there of complications of Parkinson's disease on Sunday evening, May 7, 2006. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be held this Saturday morning, May 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral downtown.
Mr. Carr was born in Algona and had lived in Des Moines for 72 years. After graduating from Ellendale High School in Minnesota, he attended AIB in Des Moines and worked briefly at the State Capitol before joining the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a railway mail clerk for 30 years. He then earned a CLU and had a second career as a life insurance salesman, retiring in 1990. A champion handball player in his young manhood (three-time state singles trophy winner in the 1940s), he coached and mentored generations of Iowa handball players well into his old age.
He is survived by three sons, Bruce of Des Moines, Dale of Groningen in the Netherlands, and Scot of St. Louis; daughter-in-law Vickie Cossel of Des Moines; one sister, Betty C. Williams of North Little Rock, sister-in-law Mildred C. Heaberlin of Des Moines, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Winifred, two sons, a brother, and two sisters.
The family will receive friends following services Saturday at the cathedral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Des Moines YMCA Partner with Youth program.
Jeanette E. Beams

Jeanette E. Beams, 91, was sent to the Lord on May 19, 2006.
A visitation will held on Thursday, May 25, at Brooks University Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Celina, Ohio.
Jeanette was born on September 4, 1914 in Indiana to John and Anna Niblick. She loved sports, particularly Hawkeye football and basketball.
She is survived by her brother, Clarence Niblick and wife Gernadine of Florida, her son Frank Beams of Des Moines, grandsons Ryan Beams of Falls City, Washington, Christopher Beams of Los Angeles, California, two great grandchildren, Alyona and Yevgeny Beams of Falls City, Washington, and longtime companion Miles Ripberger of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Babe Beams, parents, John and Anna Niblick, two brothers, Eugene and John Niblick, and two sisters, Lucille Smith and Helen Niblick.

Muriel Jane Sharp
Knoxville
Muriel Sharp, 84, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the Westridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Knoxville. Memorial services will be held Friday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville, with burial in Graceland Cemetery. Mrs. Sharp has been cremated.
Muriel is survived by her husband, Harry; children, Jerry of Knoxville, Don (Kathy) of Des Moines, Rick (Donna) of Eldridge and Ted (Judy) of Knoxville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Viola Knapp, Edna (Charles) Nelson and Lucille (Joe) Urias and brothers, Ray VanderLinden and Dale (Judy) VanderLinden.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Thursday at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or to the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden.
