Celebration of Life Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Roy B. Sharar, 61, of Bettendorf, will be held 10 AM Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday (today) at the Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. The family invites you to join them at the funeral home for a brief Prayer Service beginning at 4 PM Friday. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Roy died Thursday, May 6, 2004 at his home, surrounded by his family and his Shepherd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Genesis Hospice Care of VNA.
Roy Burton Sharar was born July 9, 1942 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Donald R. and Marjorie (Lande) Sharar. He graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport. On August 8, 1992, Roy was united in marriage to Susan J. Sievers Besch at Clifton Manor on the Marycrest campus.
He worked in sales for the Old Dominion Freight Line, retiring in 2004.
Roy enjoyed good music, fishing trips to Canada, being with friends and family, and special times with his grandson, Daniel Laird.
In addition to his wife, Susan, survivors include daughters, Sarah N. Sharar, Edina, MN; Gretchen G. Besch, Bettendorf; and Christina M. Hyatt, Omaha, NE; a son, Aaron J. Sharar, Edina, MN; his grandchildren, Daniel Patrick Laird and Lillian Mae Hyatt; his mother, Marjorie Fisher, Davenport; his father, Donald Sharar, Moline, IL; a sister, Kristine Gerischer, Cambridge, MD; two brothers, Donald M. Sharar, Blue Grass, IA, and Thomas N. Sharar, Morning Sun, IA; and many special friends and neighbors.

She was born May 1, 1926, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Helen (Jessen) and Marvin Turpin. She married Wilbur "Bill" Baltimore on June 15, 1947, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2000.
Gerry worked as the Deputy Recorder at the Scott County Court House in Davenport, retiring in January of 1987.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; P.E.O., Chapter GW; TTT, Chapter AF; and volunteered for the Genesis Auxiliary.
Gerry enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, gardening and being with her friends and family.
Survivors included her sons, William R. Baltimore and Thomas J. (Cherry) Baltimore, both of Davenport, IA; four grandchildren, Anne, Abby, Allison, Alexandra Baltimore.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

Mrs. Raymie was born March 4, 1919 in McComb, Missouri to George C. and Lori T. (Barnard) Johnson. She married Frank Raymie, Sr. May 12, 1962 in Davenport. He died December 28, 2003. She previously had been married to Earnest LeRoy Trettin.
Her early years were spent running the kitchen of The Par Four in Bettendorf and Strunks' St. Louis House in Davenport. She loved fishing and her grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter, Sandy Seitz of Lynxville, Wisconsin; son, Ron Trettin of Long Grove, Iowa; step-daughters, Joanne Raymie of Rock Island, lllinois, and Wanda Dennis of Davenport, Iowa; step-son, Frank Raymie, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Zelda Goodman of Missouri and brother, Pete Johnson of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Henry Wallace Trettin, five sisters and two brothers.

Deacon Joe Willie Morgan, Sr., 68, of Davenport, Iowa died Thursday, May 6, 2004 at his home. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 14, 2004 at Temple Baptist Church, 3526 N. Brady St., Davenport. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13th at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Deacon Morgan was born September 5, 1935 in Water Valley, Mississippi to Wilbert and Mary (Berry) Morgan. He married Carrie Louise McDowell August 12, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee.
He worked as a shipping clerk for Eagle Signal, Davenport, retiring in 1989. Following that he worked for Brach's Candy Company. In addition to serving as Deacon with Temple Baptist Church, he was a member of Churches United and, prior to his retirement, served as chaplain to the Scott County Jail. He was a 32 degree Mason with Hiram Lodge #19 and a past president of the Davenport Dads' Club.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie of Davenport; daughters, Cathy S. (Sam) Rucker of Water Valley, Mississippi, Elizabeth Ann Morgan and Sondra Kay Morgan, both of Davenport; sons, Joe Willie (Carylon) Morgan, Jr., Michael Edward Morgan, Patrick Dewayne (Andreica) Morgan, Sr., and Marcus Allen Morgan, all of Davenport; twenty eight grandchildren. Fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ruth Sisk of Rock Island, Illinois; brother, James "Duke" (Ethel) Morgan of Water Valley, Mississippi, Aunt, Julia Berry of Oakland, California, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a sister, three brothers, and his parents.

Roscoe W. Joiner, 79, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at First Baptist Church, 1401 Perry St., Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church toward the Sound Equipment Project or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
He was born January 31, 1925, in Plano, Iowa to Cloe (Wells) and Herbert Joiner. He married Margie Foster, daughter of Glen and Cora Foster on October 11, 1945, in Albia, Iowa. On June 27,1981 he married Helen (Willich) Schumacher, daughter of Edwin and Norma Willich, in Davenport, Iowa.
Roscoe worked construction until going to the Physical Plant as an electrician at the University of Iowa. He retired in 1987. He was a jack-of-all trades, a carpenter, electrician and a plumber. He shared his many skills generously by helping others and giving hugs of encouragement. He was a friend to all.
He was a member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church. His life's goal was to serve God and to help others.
Roscoe belonged to the Host Lions Club, Davenport and he and his wife hosted many foreign exchange students. He helped with Rebuilding Quad Cities Together formerly Hearts and Hammers, on several community projects.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughters, Connie (Carl) Wendland, Heber Springs, AR, Debra (Henry) Elliott, Mystic, IA, Roxanne (Jerry) Mortensen, Imperial, MO, Patricia (Jeff) Barnard, Northglenn, CO; stepsons, Timothy (Sandra) Schumacher, Davenport, IA, Michael (Deb) Schumacher, Altoona, IA; stepdaughter, Debora Randolph, Davenport, IA.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Golick, Centerville, IA, Marilyn (David) Koehler, Udell, IA; brothers, Royce (Gladys) Joiner, Plano, IA, Richard (Jeanne) Joiner, Plano, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Soppe, a sister and brother, Reba and Ronald (twins); a grandson and a nephew John Soppe.
Roscoe leaves behind his loving family and a host of friends in whose memories he will live always.

Theodore "Ted" V. Dvorak, 91, became an angel among us on May 10, 2004. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 13th at Christ United Methodist Church, 2330 W. 41st Street, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 12th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #26, Christ United Methodist Church, or CASI of Davenport.
Born in Tama, Iowa in 1912 to Joseph and Mary, he was an only child. He married Dorothy Karkosh in 1937 after they met at a dance. They were always "on the go", square dancing, attending church functions, playing bridge, golfing and taking trips all over the country.
A World War II veteran, he served in the Navy from 1944-1946. He worked as a foreman at Linwood Stone until he retired. He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post #26, a member of Elks Club, served on many committees at West High School during the 1960s and played on the men's golf league at Duck Creek for many years. He loved sports and was an avid Hawkeye fan, always cheering for those Hawks.
Always putting others before himself, his gentle, kind ways touched many who knew him. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, we will all miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Davenport; sons, Jim (Linda) Dvorak of Atlanta, Georgia and Tom (Jonnie) Dvorak of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Dean (Laura), Mickie, Jamie, Tammy (Billy), and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Cody, Ethan, Leslie Ann, Bailey, and Bryce; and a cousin Sue (Steve) York. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Lisa.

William "Bob" Knaack, 60, of Davenport, Iowa died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. Celebration of Life services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 14th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Mr. Knaack was born December 6, 1943 in Davenport to William H. Jr. and Lauvrense (Iverson) Knaack. He married Patricia Stout June 25, 1966 in Davenport. He served with the U.S. Army during Viet Nam.
Together with his sons he owned and operated Bob and Sons Truck Wash, Davenport, following his employment with the Davenport Fire Department. He was a member of Newcomb Presbyterian Church, Davenport. He loved to play with his grandchildren, spending quality time with friends and giving everyone a hard time, and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife, Patty, of Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Glenn Benge of Bettendorf; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jaclyn Knaack of Davenport; son, Brian Knaack and his fiancée Kathy Blumer of LeClaire, Iowa; grandchildren, Virginia Knaack, Tyler Benge, and Amanda Benge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carole and Ted Baker of Davenport, and Joann and Bob Wilder of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Becky was born January 4, 1943 in McGregor, Iowa to Lawrence and Phyllis (McMillin) Allyn. She married Donald Coobs February 14, 1962 in Garnavillo, Iowa. She was a homemaker who also worked in the Agricultural Department of Farm and Fleet, Davenport, for the last several years. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Dixon. Among her greatest joys was being with her grandchildren, bicycling with the "Country Peddlers" and bowling.

He was born May 10, 1916, in Liberty, Illinois, the son of Pearl (Balzer) and Andrew Longlett. He married Dorothy Jurgens on May 1, 1942, in Coatsburg, Illinois.
Floyd was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge; Eldridge Lions; Davenport Chordbusters and American Legion Post #26.
He served in U.S. Navy from 1943 through 1946.
Floyd retired from the Davenport Post Office in 1973, with 34 years of service.
He loved to fish; his daily cigar; watching "The Price is Right"; going to auctions and his family
Floyd is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; sister, Frances Edna Hyer, Liberty, IL; nieces and nephews; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell (Kathy) Longlett, Bettendorf, IA; Dennis (Brooke) Longlett, Davenport, IA; seven grandchildren, Eric (Tina) Longlett, Bettendorf, IA, Brad (Katie) Longlett, E. Moline, IL, Alex Longlett, Bettendorf, IA, Teresa (Bradford) Smith, Ames, IA, Krista Longlett, Eldridge, IA, Michael Larsen, and Shelby Bloomingdale; seven great grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Grace, and Dylan Longlett, Rachael and Alexandria Smith, and Matthew Longlett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Edith Witt.

Molly Marie Rankin, 17, of Bettendorf, Iowa died Saturday, May 29, 2004. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 3rd at Christs Family Church, 4601 Utica Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be 3-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 2nd at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to donate to the Heart Connection Oncology Camp and to Christs Family Church Youth Group.
Molly was born January 2, 1987 in Middleburgh Heights, Ohio to Kelly and Kathy (Schumacher) Rankin. She attended Mokapu Elementary, Kailua, Hawaii; Pleasant View Elementary, Pleasant Valley, Iowa; San Onofre Elementary, San Clemente, California; Mediapolis Junior High School, Mediapolis, Iowa; Bettendorf Middle School and was currently a junior at Bettendorf High School. Molly worked as an assistant for Scott Community College at the high school. She was active in Christs Family Church where she participated in the youth group and annual mission trips. She also participated in the schools Christian R.O.C.K. group and attended Heart Connections Camps. Molly enjoyed cooking, reading, dancing, listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. She loved children and practicing her Spanish. Her smile, spirit and laughter were infectious.
Survivors include her mother, Kathy Rankin of Pleasant Valley, and father and step-mother, Kelly and Lynn Rankin of Bettendorf; brothers, Kelly Patrick Rankin of Spokane, Washington and Nicholas Ryan Rankin of Pleasant Valley; grandmothers, Shirley Schumacher of Pleasant Valley, Deloris Rankin of Lockhart, Texas, Arline Lively of Davenport; grandparents, Rev. Bob and Marilyn Hamilton of Davenport; great-grandmother, Iva Terry of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; great-grandfather, Robert Fetterhoff of Huntington, Indiana, and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Molly was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Carrol Schumacher and John Rankin.
Molly had been adamant to her family that organ/ tissue donation be made for her. The Iowa Donor Network has told the family that her donation could benefit up to 80 people.

Evelyn Ruth Meyer was born May 24, 1921, in Odebolt, Iowa, to Anna (Bohlmeyer) and John Lietz. She married Fred Meyer February 20, 1945, in Sac City, Iowa. He died March 16, 1989. She was a homemaker. She never knew a stranger, and she loved to talk. Her world centered around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Rogers; son, Ronald Meyer; and grandchildren, Penny and Jim Frank, and Jason Mangels and fiance' Vickie Kearney, all of Buffalo, and Crystal Mangels, Davenport; and step-grandchildren ,Doug and Lisa Rogers, Moline; three great-grandsons, three stepgreat-granddaughters; sisters Amanda Saur, Davenport, Alma Trimmer, Lander, WY, Alvina Hokansen, Des Moines, Iowa, and Dorothy Bloom, Blue Grass; brothers Henry Lietz, Spencer, Iowa, Eldred Lietz, Lake View, Iowa, and Edward Lietz, Auburn, Iowa, and a special friend, Jan Carson, Buffalo.

Leo R. Entler, 81, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Davenport Lutheran Home, Davenport. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 A.M. Mr. Entler was born August 14, 1922 in Davenport, Iowa to Leo A. and Paula W. (Peshinski) Entler. He married Mildred Iverson in Davenport. She died in 1984. He worked as an assistant Lead Man in the machine shop of J. I. Case, Bettendorf, retiring in 1983 after 35 years. He was a member of Davenport Friends Church and enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Brad Lee and Cindy Entler, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marie Waters, all of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his wife, son Gary Lee Entler in 2000, and a brother Glen.

CHARLOTTE A. "CHARLIE" YOUNG
March 24, 1918 - June 3, 2004
Charlotte "Charlie" Young, 86, formerly of East Moline and Cordova, Illinois, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at the West Wing Care Center in DeWitt, Iowa.
There will be no services. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charlotte Ann Waggett was born March 24, 1918 in LaSalle, Illinois, a daughter of Thomas and Adeline (Hirsh) Waggett. On April 18, 1940, Charlotte was united in marriage to Oswald Edward Young. Mr. Young preceded her in death in 1987.
"Charlie", as she best known, was a part-time Post-Mistress at the Cordova Post Office for many years. She also had served as a volunteer member of the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include her daughters and sons in law, Linda and Allan Hanson of Hampton, Illinois, and Mary and Ron Scott of Silvis, Illinois; a son and daughter in law, Thomas and Jane Young of Tom's River, New Jersey; nine grandchildren: Amy Harris, Scott Hanson, Jenifer Hanson, Kathy Nino, Marcia Nino, Becky Schnack, Bobbi Jo Myetich, Christine Hoffman, and Catherine Weintraum.
In addition to her husband, Charlie was preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson, Shaun Tanner, and a sister, Norma Nebenzhal.

February 26, 1924 - June 13, 2004
Visitation: Friday, June 18, 2004, The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service Friday morning.
Services: Friday, June 18, 2004, 10 AM at Weerts Funeral Home
Cemetery: Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport
Alice M. McDonald, 80, of Muscatine, Iowa, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, as a result of an auto-pedestrian accident just south of Muscatine.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 18, 2004, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, Iowa. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Family.
Alice was born February 26, 1924, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Rosey (Lee) and George Channel.
She worked at the Oscar Mayer meat packing plant in Davenport, Iowa, retiring in 1981.
Alice enjoyed quilting, walking and traveling.
Survivors included her daughter, Carolyn E. "Sally" Mortimer, Muscatine, IA;five grandchildren, Patricia (Tom) Dennis, Muscatine; IA; Violet (Dennis) Cook, Keokuk, IA; Chris (Forrest) Glaspie, Muscatine, IA; Lamanda Boike, and her fiance' Bob; Tammy McDonald, Rock Island, IL; brother, Dutch Channel, Sidney NE; daughter-in-law, Janice McDonald, Rock Island, IL.
She was preceded in death by her son, George McDonald; three sisters and four brothers.
