Peggy Evelyn Thompson, 90, formerly of the Iowa Quad Cities, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center, West Branch, Iowa after an eight year battle with Parkinson's. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 19th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1705 E. Locust, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7:30 P.M. Friday, June 18th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Those serving as pallbearers are Bill Churchill, Tom Clifton, George Straetker, Joe Imhoff, Andy Trosen and Mark Zogg. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Branch, Carl Hayden and Bill Trent. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport, Mulford Evangelical Free Church, Muscatine, or Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center, West Branch, Iowa.
Mrs. Thompson was born April 21, 1914 in Alma, Iowa, the eldest daughter of Arnold and Ann (Rueckert) Miller. She married Dr. J. Clay Thompson December 7, 1935 at Mulford Evangelical Free Church, Muscatine, Iowa. He died November 27, 1995. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother throughout her life. She resided in Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa most of her life where she was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was a member of the church choir for many years.
Mrs. Thompson worked at Service Rubber in Rock Island, Illinois during World War II and was the office manager in her husband's clinic until his retirement. In her later years, she moved to Muscatine, Iowa to live with her daughter, Mary Ann Zogg. She resided at Crestview Nursing and Rehab for the past year.
Survivors include her only daughter, Mary Ann (Chris) Zogg of Muscatine, Iowa; grandson, Mark (Carla) Zogg of Grant, Alabama; granddaughter, Beth Zogg Kellett and great grandchildren, Christian and Callie Kellett, all of North August, S. Carolina; nieces Nancy Keel of Muscatine, Iowa and Rev. Jane Keel of Burlington, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her only sister, Lorraine "Jimmy" Keel.

She was born September 27, 1935, in Lowden, Iowa the daughter of Leona (Schroeder) and Raymond Pancratz. She married Ronald C. Rietz on June 10th, 1956, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death July 15, 2000.
Rosemary graduated from Davenport High School in 1954. She was a homemaker for many years and later worked as a cook at West High School in Davenport for seven years.
She enjoyed gardening and sewing but most of all she loved being with her family.
Survivors included her daughters Rhonda (James) Brockmann, Walcott, Robin (John) Kubat, Bettendorf, Rita (Mike) McMahon, Davenport; sons, Richard Rietz, Davenport, Roger (Mary) Rietz, Walcott, Randal Rietz, Davenport; grandchildren, Kale, Benjamin and Tenley Brockmann, Lindsey and Logan Kubat, Mindy, Ashley and Brandon Rietz, Brianna, Mikita and Ian McMahon; brothers, Frank (Marge) Pancratz, Eldridge, and James Pancratz, Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Wesley Pancratz.
SHIRLEY J. MYERS
April 26, 1933 - July 29, 2004

Shirley J. Myers, Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Genesis Medical center West campus. Shirley Jeannette May was born April 26, 1933, the daughter of Thomas W. and Lulah K. (Sevits) May in Putnam County, Missouri. Both the May and Sevits families were original pioneering families in Adair and Putnam Counties, Missouri.
She was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville, Missouri, and attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. Private burial services for family and close friends will be held in Kirksville, Missouri on Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Hazel Creek Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at Hazel Creek Cemetery. Weerts Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Playle Funeral Home Kirksville, is in charge of burial arrangements.
Shirley received her bachelors (1970) and masters (1971) degrees from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and, following several years of secondary teaching in Missouri and Illinois, she was involved for the next 22 years in university administration with St. Louis University, Western Illinois University, and most recently Marycrest International University, until its closing in 2002. She pursued postgraduate study and lifelong learning and was a member and officer of many professional organizations.
Shirley first married Basil E. Riley in 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri. In 1973 she married Kenneth L. Myers in Waterloo, Illinois.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa K. (Riley) [Mrs. Stephen J.] Lynn, Davenport, and her son, Clifford D. Myers, St. Louis; grandsons Adrian W. Lynn [Melanie], Minneapolis, MN, and Neil P. Lynn [Amy], Victorville, California; three brothers, C. Thomas May, Boston, Massachusetts, Robert May, Kirksville, and Ted E. May, Jefferson City, Missouri; one sister, Rowena Pope, Circle Pines, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, two in infancy. Jerry D. "Corky" Baker, 64, of Davenport, died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at his home. Memorial Services will be at Chuck's Tap, 1731 W. 6th Street, Davenport, on Friday, August 6 at 4:00 p.m.
Mr. Baker was born December 22, 1939 in Davenport to Helen (Baker) and Donald Robert Baker. He was the owner of C. Baker Trucking Company, Davenport.
Mr. Baker loved boating, riding his lawn tractor, and classic cars.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Hoover; a son, Jerry R. Baker and fiancé Kelly; a sister, Lisa (Eric) Bowen, all of Davenport; a brother, Donald Baker of Illinois; and four grandchildren, Eric, Brandi, Nicole, and Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tammy.
DAVID M. ACKERLAND

David M. Ackerland died on July 30, 2004.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

David was born on August 28, 1946, in Park River ND. He was the seventh child born to George and Edith (Mastry) Ackerland. David moved to the Quad-City area in his early teens. On August 8, 1964, David married Geraldine Griffin, his wife of 40 years. Together they raised five children; three sons, Michael Ackerland, Matthew & Brianne Ackerland and Gerald & Rachel Ackerland, all of Davenport; and two daughters, Constance & Ramon Terronez of Bettendorf, and Gretta & Jerry Hooper of Davenport. He had eleven grandchildren who were very special to him; Nicholas, Noah, Jordan, Jessica, Victoria, Vivian and Haley Ackerland, Eric and Evan Terronez, and Alexis and Olivia Hopper.
David was President of David Ackerland Construction, Inc, which he ran with the help of his wife and partner Geraldine for 38 years.
David will be missed greatly by his wife, children, family, friends and one very special friend, his little dog Buddy. Buddy was seen, almost daily with David in his truck going through McDonalds drive through to get coffee and breakfast.
David is survived by his wife, Geraldine; his three sons, Michael, Matthew and Gerald; two daughters, Constance and Gretta; parents, George and Edith Ackerland of Moline, IL; two brothers, Harold (Lynn) Ackerland and Donald (Cheryl) Ackerland all of East Moline, IL; three sisters, Myrna State of Sarasota, FL, Jana (Jorge) Diaz of Davenport and Julie (Maynard) Madora of Creston, IA.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Gary, Harlan, and Randy Ackerland.

Lynxville, WI --- Carl Michael (Mike) Seitz, 43, of Lynxville, Wisconsin, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, August 6, 2004, in a boating accident in Lynxville.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 13, 2004, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 12, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, Iowa.

Mr. Seitz was born September 12, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa to Carl Walter and Donna Jean (Clough) Seitz. He married Sandra L. Raymie on August 20, 1983, in Donahue, Iowa.
He was a member of Ironworkers Local Union #111, of Rock Island, Illinois for 17 years. He currently worked for Nelson Hardwoods in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
He enjoyed life, family, friends, fishing, hunting and music. His pride and joy was his grandson Tyson. He enjoyed anything that would get him outdoors or that he could build with his hands.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Seitz, Lynxville, WI; his son and best friend, Michael, Lynxville; his grandson, Tyson; his daughter-in-law, Amanda J. (Jones) Seitz, Lynxville; mother, Donna Jean (Clough) Seitz, Davenport, IA; and a brother William Seitz, Grand Mound, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl Walter Seitz and his grandparents.

Mary E. Buckley, 81, of River Grove, Illinois and formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, August 05, 2004 at the West Lake Hospital in Melrose Park, Illinois.
Private graveside services for the family will be held at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Elizabeth Bacon was born April 24, 1923 in Lebanon, Missouri, a daughter of Ivan G. and Mollie L. (Scott) Bacon. She was united in marriage to Roy L. Buckley on October 13, 1945 in Elkater, Iowa. Mr. Buckley preceded her in death April 17, 1999.
Survivors include her sister, Ruth Davis, of River Grove, Illinois; and a brother, Glen Bacon, of Lebanon, Missouri; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Tena.

Hattie Goettsch, 98, of Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Silver Crest Assisted Living, Davenport. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 7th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-8:00 P.M. Friday, August 6th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Mrs. Goettsch was born September 17, 1905 in Sheridan Township to William and Bertha (Arp) Stoltenberg. She married Orey H. Goettsch January 12, 1927 in Davenport. He died August 3, 1990. She and her husband farmed near Eldridge. She also worked in the coffee shop and cafeteria of the former Mercy Hospital, Davenport. She enjoyed all her family and their activities, including playing cards.
Survivors include sons, Gordon W., Sr. (Arlene) Goettsch of Long Grove, Iowa, Robert H. Goettsch and Larry O. (Janet) Goettsch, all of Eldridge, Iowa; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Peter Stoltenberg of Davenport. She was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.

Thursday, July 15th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 5-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 14th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Mr. Merry was born October 18, 1925 in Muscatine, Iowa to Charles F. and Bessie (King) Merry. He married Barbara C. Osborn July 11, 1946 in Davenport. He was a carpenter in the Quad City area for over 50 years, which he enjoyed immensely, as well as all sports, and especially the "Cubs". He was a member of Newcomb Presbyterian Church, with which he was an elder, and also a member of Carpenter Local Union # 4, Davenport.
Survivors included his wife, Barbara "Coleen"; sons Glenn "Gregory" (Diane) Merry, of Davenport, and Jeffrey "Michael" (Donna) Merry of Knightsen, California; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Edgar P. Dhuyvetter, 92, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at his home.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 A.M. at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa. Weerts Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born March 8, 1912, in Belgium to Hector and Clementin Dhuyvetter. He married Edith Eileen Keller on October 1, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa. She preceded him in death January 11, 1995.
Edgar was a cabinetmaker by trade. During WWII he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois. Following the war, he worked at M. L. Parker Department store, and later worked at Lou Stegel Furniture, retiring in 1977.
He was a long time member at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport. His crowning life achievement was carving much of the Altar at Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his sons, Michel K. "Shell" Dhuyvetter, Davenport, Iowa and Gregory E. Dhuyvetter, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In addition to his wife, Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Leonard Dhuyvetter.

Albina Bowen, 93, of Milan, Illinois died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Illinois.

She was born December 15, 1910, in Livingston, Illinois, one of twelve children born to Emilya (Hazucha) and John Urban. She married Harry Martine Bowen September 13, 1941, in Livingston, Illinois. He preceded her in death August 9, 1963.
Albina was a lifelong member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, most recently St. Matthew in Milan, Illinois.
Albina was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Outside of the home, she worked at the University of Chicago's cafeteria. While in Britt, she helped her husband run the Candy Kitchen and later worked at the Dummett Bakery. She retired in 1970.
She was happy and especially proud that her two daughters graduated from college and attended church faithfully. As an adult Albina enjoyed crocheting, dancing, embroidery work, going to Intouch Day Center and remembering special funny memories of her childhood.
Survivors include her daughters, Kitty Dornbier and Karen Higdon, both of East Moline, Illinois; grandson, Scott Higdon, Davenport, Iowa; brothers, John Urban, Carlinville, Illinois, Frank (Vanita) Urban, Sun City, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Albina was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and four brothers.

She was born March 11, 1924 in Muscatine, Iowa to Nettie (Wagner) and Frank Harris. She married Edward J. Hakes July 2, 1940 in Muscatine, Iowa. He died August 21, 1993.
She retired as a cook from the Masonic Home, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Interests include gambling, crafts, cooking, animals, dolls and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Cecelia M. and William Kale of Davenport, Iowa; sons and daughter in laws, Les L., Houston, Texas, Robert E. and Dena of Biloxi, MS, David L., Richard D. and Betty, Bryon S., and Jeff D. all of Davenport, Iowa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Tillberg; a great grandson, Jacob; a brother, Wilbur Harris; and four sisters, Florence, Mable, Zelda and Betty Anne.
