Alvin L. Petersen, 77, of Bettendorf, Iowa died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services, Davenport, IA.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 19th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 18th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, IA. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport.
Alvin was born in Council Bluffs, IA to Louis W. and Edna (Larsen) Petersen. He married Marie D. Ullerich on June 9th, 1956, in Vinton, Iowa.
Alvin worked as the assistant manager of the Social Security Administration Office in Davenport for 34 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of Lutheran Laymen’s League; currently president of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and had held many offices within the church. He enjoyed spending time with family, softball, golf and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Marie, Bettendorf; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Douglas Spoerre, Morristown, TN, Sharon and William Bauer, West Des Moines, IA; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Donna Petersen, Olathe, KS; six grandchildren, Kristin and Shelly Spoerre, Christopher and Sara Bauer, Haley and Christian Petersen;
stepmother, Pearl Petersen, Keosauqua, IA; sister, Phyllis Carey, Princeton, KS; brother, Donald Petersen, Prescott, AZ and step-brother, Louis Petersen, Jr., Keosauqua, IA.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents.

Veronica “Fronie” Wulf, 94, of Davenport, Iowa died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Celebration of Life services will be 1:00 PM Friday, May 30, 2003 at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport.
Mrs. Wulf was born October 2, 1908 in Davenport to Bernard and Clara (Spring) Friedholdt. She married Walter Wulf July 3, 1930 in Davenport. He preceded her in 1974.
She was a homemaker who was a Sunday school teacher and superintendant at Zion Lutheran Church for over 25 years. She was a life long member of Zion and active in the Dorcus Circle and Mary Martha Circle at the church. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Robert E. and Joann Wulf, Davenport, with whom she made her home, grandchildren Michael E. Wulf and his wife Deborah and Ceryl Mannhardt and her husband William, great-granddaughters Megan and Emily, and sisters and brothers-in-law Hazel and Robert Cowles, Davenport, and Anita and Gaylord Steffen, Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by a sister Agnes and a brother Bernard.

William L. “Bill” Bromell, 89, of Davenport died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Crest Health Care, Ridgecrest Village, Davenport, Iowa. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 21st at Koning Chapel, Ridgecrest Village, Davenport. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M. Friday, June 20th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, and 9-10:00 A.M. Saturday at Koning Chapel prior to service time. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Davenport or Koning Charitable Fund, Ridgecrest.
Mr. Bromell was born December 29, 1913 in Tipton, Iowa to Harry N. and Mertie E. (Bell) Bromell. He married Wilma M. Smith June 3, 1933 in Tipton.
He was parts and service manager for All Wheel Drive, Davenport for 28 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed sports, repairing cars, and his family.
Survivors include his wife Wilma, Davenport, sons and daughters-in-law Max and Jeanne Bromell in Mesa, Arizona and Jerry and Marlene Bromell, Grand Mound, Iowa, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Marie was born July 3, 1922 in Davenport, Iowa to George and Elsie (Merten) Day. She married Charles F. Specht, September 20, 1941, in Davenport, Iowa. He died August 25, 1996.
She was employed as a matron at Williams Jr. High in Davenport for 10 years retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; LCW; Hannah Group; Honorary member SIPPI; Tri-L; Sam Travel Club; member of V.F.W. Auxiliary, Davenport; and King’s Daughter’s.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlene Paper of Bettendorf; son and daughter in law, Philip and Judy Specht of Davenport; 6 grandchildren, Angela Rose (Tim) Schlie, Kate Renee (Sean) Wright, Jason Philip Specht, Christina Lee Specht, Derek Charles Paper and Caroline Colista Laures; and a brother and sister in law, Gerald and Bea Day of Guam.
She was preceded by her husband; a daughter, Lori Laures (1991); a sister, Deanna Rindler and a brother, George Day.

Thomas S. Tunison, 63, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of LeClaire, IA, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Celebration of Life services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 9th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 1:00- 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Tunison was born April 19, 1940, in Davenport to Harold C. and Ruth (Schumaker) Tunison. He married Sharon Lupton December 27, 1964, in Davenport. He served his country with the U.S. Army as a crew chief in the 5th Aviation Battalion.
Mr. Tunison was a graphic arts designer with U.S. Weapons Command, Rock Island Arsenal and a production coordinator with the Deere and Co. advertising department. He started his own business in 1985, Tom Tunison Graphics Associates, retiring in 1996 due to illness.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Ambrose College and was a 25 year member of Zion Lutheran Church, Princeton, where he taught Sunday school. He loved the outdoors and demonstrated a great reverence for nature. He was a dynamic and caring man with a soaring spirit and love for all around him. He loved his family and was a friend to all he met.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, Davenport; daughter Erica and her partner, Amy, Western Illinois University; son, Buckley Tunison, Davenport; and sister and brother-in-law Susan and James Carson, Moline, Illinois. He will be missed by his three nieces Patti Olsen, Cindy Fowler and Pam Carson, his nephews Mark and Matt Schoenfelder, his cousin and friend Ron Waits and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Peter.

Andrew C. “Tip” DeNike, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 14th at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Davenport, Iowa. A Gathering will be held from 4-7:00 P.M., Friday, June 13th at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, IA.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral or The Leukemia Society of America, INC.
Andrew was born November 1, 1929, in Ontario, Canada to Andrew Murry and Thyra (Ketcheson) De Nike. He married Kristin Apking on November 21, 1998, in Bettendorf, Iowa.
He was passionate about his career as a pharmacist. He worked for many years at Swedman Pharmacy in Kewanee, IL and later at Eagle Pharmacy in Davenport. He never had a customer that didn’t make him smile.
Andrew was a member of the “I” Club from the University of Iowa. He was an enthusiastic Hawkeye fan, loved to play golf and spend time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Kristin; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Ouellette, Princeton, IA; son, Scott DeNike, Bettendorf, IA; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Cindy DeNike, Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Teresa and Cory Ouellette; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ted Cochrane, Ontario, Canada; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Helen DeNike, Doug and Ruth DeNike all of Ontario, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife Bonnie DeNike.

She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and gardening.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Ted, Blue Grass, IA; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn (Ray) Lee, Viola, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis (Laura) Bishop, Bellevue, IA and Dewey (Terri) Bishop, Davenport, IA; nine grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Emory (Mary) Kellums, Davenport, IA.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gene, in 1948.

Rachel was born February 5, 1985, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Therese (Manning) and Merle Wiese.
Rachel was a student at Scott Community College. She was an active tutor at Hayes Elementary School of Davenport in addition to working as shift manager at PAPA Murphy's Take N' Bake Pizza.
She was a member of the Quad Cities Vineyard Christian Fellowship, Davenport. Rachel enjoyed playing the guitar and piano, singing, and softball.
Rachel is survived by her parents, Therese and Merle Wiese, Davenport; sisters, Anna M. Wiese, Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA, Lydia M. Wiese, 16, at home; brother Seth M. Wiese, Rock Island, IL; grandparents, Everett and Norma Manning, Rock Island, IL.

Barbara L. Tunis, 42, of Bettendorf, Iowa died Monday, September 8, 2003, at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.

Barbara was born March 4, 1961 in Davenport, Iowa to the parents Isabelle (DesPlanques) and Max Lapsey, Sr. She married Scott Tunis on June 12, 1980 in Davenport, Iowa.
She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Firstar Bank in Davenport; in Real-estate sales with Grampp Realty, Bettendorf; and as office manager at CML USA, Davenport.
Barbara was a lifetime member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and former member of its choir and was a Bell Ringer.
Barbara loved her family and friends. She enjoyed music, the outdoors and loved to watch sunsets.
Survivors include her husband, Scott; sons, Brian and Brenton, at home; brothers Max Lapsey, Jr., Davenport, IA, Danny Lapsey, Davenport, IA, Joey Lapsey, Tierra Verde, FL; and mother, Isabelle Lapsey, Davenport, IA.

Faye was born December 10, 1912, in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of Edith F. (Smith) and Earl P. Martin. She married Theodore W. Campbell in Burlington, Iowa on October 26, 1933. He preceded her in death November 20, 1995.
She was employed by Howard Jewelers of Davenport as a sales clerk.
Faye was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Silver Cross Circle, Kings Daughters, Marthas Circle and the Royal Neighbors of America.
She enjoyed having tea with her friends.
Survivors include Fayes nieces, nephews and close friends.
Faye was preceded in death by her two sisters and brother.

Mary Ann Marks was born August 23, 1932, in Elgin, Illinois the daughter of Catherine (Benedict) and Joseph Marks. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Richard Hensel in 1952 in Lyons, Iowa (Clinton).
She was employed by Rod Fitch Sporting Goods (Clinton), Mast Development (Davenport), the Quad City Times in the Advertising Dept. and Office Manager for Dick Hensel Realty.
Mary Ann was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed bowling, golf and bridge. She was an excellent cook and loved The Food Network. Mary Ann and Dick enjoyed attending U.S. Naval Destroyer conventions.
Mary Ann was devoted to her family. Her survivors include: her husband, Richard (Dick); son and daughter-in-law, Jim (Kim) Hensel, Solon, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Terri (Tom) Miller; Davenport: grandsons, Lee, Kevin and Mark; granddaughters, Valerie, Kate, Tori and Betsy; one great-grandson, Brock; sister, Virginia (Arnold) Randone, Davenport; brother, Josh (Jeannie) Marks, Mt. Airy, GA; brother-in-law, Lew Throssel, Eldora, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Barb Hensel, Indianapolis, IN, Eric and Joann Hensel, Dallas, TX, Tom and Judy Hensel, Sabula, IA, Jan and Mike Kreuger, St. Louis, MO; mother-in-law, Elfrieda Hensel, Clinton, IA.
