Visitation: Friends may call after 11 A.M., Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where the family will be present from 1 P.M. until the time of service.
Funeral Service: 2 P.M., Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral serivce on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those left to honor Carroll's memory are his wife, Patricia of Newton; son, Christopher S. (and Christine) Peery of Newton; his daughter, Lori D. (and Craig) Davis of West Des Moines, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, James Sutton, Rose Davis, Craig Davis, Jr. and Claire Peery; and his nephew, Craig Sparks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Pearl B. (Zickle) Peery and his 2 sisters, Lorene L. De Kock and Leah V. Sparks.
Carroll worked for 24 years for the Iowa Department of Transporation in Highway Maintenance, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a memeber of the Masonic Monumental No. 311 Lodge in Galesburg.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in the 2nd Armored Division during the Korean War.
Memorials to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church may be left at the church or at the funeral home.

Franklin C. "Frank" Pellett
October 20, 1930 - August 04, 2004
Newton, Iowa
Visitation: Friends may call from 1-4 P.M., Sunday, August 08, 2004 at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 1-4 P.M., Sunday with a coffee time in the social room at the funeral home.
No funeral services are scheduled. Frank's body will be cremated following the visitation on Sunday.
Those left to honor Frank's memory are his wife, Denise of Newton; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Flint and Nancy Jane Pellett of Urbana, Illinois, Dirk Pellett of Scotts Valley, California, Brant Pellett of Los Angeles, California, and Chert and Cheryl Pellett of Highland Village, Texas; his 2 daughters, Jeanne Lundberg of Newton, Iowa, and Kay and Will Eberhart of Urbana, Illinois; 9 grandchildren and his great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, David and Janice Pellett of Narragansett, Rhode Island; his sister, Susan Penn of Manhattan, Montana; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kent and Marie (Summerbell) Pellett and his first wife, Beverly (Steigerwalt) Pellett in 1985.
Frank was a graduate of Hudson High School in Hudson, Iowa and a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Frank was a member of the Metz Church in rural Newton, Iowa and of Sugar Grove Grange. He was a part of the Environmental Action Group that started the Newton Recycling Center. Frank started the first Prairie Flower Preserve in Iowa along Highway 6 west out by his nursery. He had worked for the U. S. Forest Service in the late 1950's in the states of Washington and Oregon. Frank and his crew planted over one million pine trees during the time that he worked.

Gladys J. Beukema
March 23, 1929 - January 18, 2007
Newton, Iowa
Visitation: The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, 210 N. 2nd Ave. E. in Newton.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
Those left to honor Gladys's memory are her two sons, Mike (Sue) Beukema of Newton and Paul (Elizabeth) Beukema of Hammond, Wisconsin; her daughter, Janie (Rick) Haunsperger of Newton; five grandchildren, Jeremy Beukema and fiancée, Jill Helscher; Jennifer and Julie Beukema; and Haley and Garrett Beukema; her two sisters, Helen Bates of Newton and Gertrude Van Sickel of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerrit and Jennie (Janssen) Loff; husband, Wayne in 1998; and brother, Cornie Loff.
Gladys was a graduate of Newton High School in 1947.
Gladys has lived in rural Newton since 1940. On February 14, 1950, Gladys was united in marriage with Wayne Beukema at the Otley Reformed Church in Otley, Iowa. She was a farmer’s wife and homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church; Amboy Grange; and Jasper County Farm Bureau. Gladys loved farming, flowers, and her family and friends.
MEMORIALS to the Amboy Grange or to the Jasper County Fair may be left at the funeral home.

August N. DeVault
August 21, 1914 - January 20, 2007
Newton, Iowa
Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 P.M., Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 1 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2007 at the funeral home.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Those left to honor August's memory are his wife, Betty of Newton; son, Darrell (and Ellen) DeVault of Waterloo, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Amy (and Jim) Straub of Waterloo, Illinois, Sarah (and Dale) Meyer of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Wendy DeVault of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Joy (and Mike) McCole of Defiance, Missouri; his 8 great-grandchildren, Srephanie, Andrew, and Matthew Straub, Sean and Macy Meyer, and Emily, Kevin, and Isabel McCole; 3 sisters, Rhoda Walker of Vinton, Iowa, Edna Langham of Des Moines, Iowa, and Goldie Eldridge of Rhodes, Iowa; and his brother, Vern DeVault.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Ralph, Elza, and Harvey DeVault.
August was a farmer, truck driver, and worked at Holland Plastics in Gilman, Iowa.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Gary Pierson
February 23, 1940 - August 14, 2004

Those left to honor Gary's memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Shannon Pierson of Newton; daughter, Mindy Becker of Newton; his 9 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donny and Joann Pierson of Ottumwa, Iowa; and his sister and brother-in-law, Maria "Skip" and Kermit Smith of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lisa Bucklin and brother, Larry Pierson.
Gary worked in the factory for the Maytag Company for 26 years, retiring in May of 1992.
He was a member of the UAW Local 997 Retirees Union.

Those left to honor Dorothy's memory are her 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Ronald Vogt of Lincoln, Nebraska and Helen and Channing Robinson of Yale, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; and her 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Howard in 1977.
Dorothy graduated from Newton High School in 1935.
She worked at Denniston and Partridge Lumber Yard from 1936-1940 and at Newton Manufacturing Company from 1957 until retiring in 1977.
Memorials to the First Lutehran Church, Hospice of Jasper County, or Good Samaration at Park Centre may be left at the funeral home or at the church the day of the service.

Karen S. "Suzie" Wickliff
January 27, 1946 - January 24, 2007

Those left to honor Suzie's memory are her sister, Norma Jean Wickliff of Urbandale, Iowa; sister-in-law, Betty Wickliff of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and nieces and nephews, Brenda Johnson, Connie Johnson, Joey Nichols, Derek Wickliff, Jean Johnson, Connie Jo Nichols, and Mary Etter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred (Johnson) Wickliff; brother, Leslie Wickliff; her sister, Joyce Nichols; and nephew, Steven Nichols.
Suzie was an independent owner/operator of Wickliff Trucking for 30 years.
She enjoyed NASCAR and loved animals, espcially dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lee Roy Gragg; her 3 sisters, Mary Margaret Gragg in infancy, Shirley Sager and Leitha M. Jenkins in July of 2004; and a niece and a nephew.
Patricia was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1655 Women's Auxiliary.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers and her pets.

Those left to honor Gene's memory are his 3 sons, Harold (and Debbie) Schmidt, Daniel Schmidt, and Tom (and Lisa) Schmidt, all of Baxter, Iowa; daughter, Alisha (and Dan) Meyer of Newton, Iowa; his 16 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Larry (and Janice) Schmidt of Baxter and Leland "Pete" (and Laura) Schmidt of Portland, Tennessee; his 3 sisters, Nadien Dee of Baxter, Margaret (and Chuck) Swalwell of Newton, and Joan (and Bert) Smith of Newton; longtime friend and companion, Loretta Stubbe of Marshalltown; and his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Jack, Charles, and Dick Schmidt; and his 2 sisters, Leona Fahrney and Esther Shattuck.
Gene was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in baxter for 53 years.
He was a production worker for 31 years with the Maytag Company, retiring in 1981. After retiring from Maytag he worked for 5 years for the Baxter Schools.
Memorials in Gene's name may be left at the funeral home or the church the morning of the service.

Zach Tyler Pline
February 21, 1989 - January 25, 2007

Those left to honor Zach's memory are his parents, Scott and Beth Pline of Newton, Iowa; sister, Katelyn Pline of Newton; 3 brothers, Josh Pline and his family, Amber, Dylan, and Lexi, formerly of Newton, Corey Pline, formerly of Newton, and Caleb Pline of Newton; his grandparents, Ronald and Gloria Pline of Dubuque, Iowa; and many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Spencer Pline in 2005 and maternal grandparents, Aileen and Jim Bedell.
Zach was a lifelong resident of Newton, Iowa and was a junior at Newton High School.

Marjorie Maxwell

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford Leroy "Roy" and Edith (Longren) Faidley; husband, Leon in 1989; and her 4 brothers, Darrell, Lloyd, Myron, and Loren Faidley.
Marjorie graduated from Colfax High School in 1940 and attended Simpson College to receive her teaching certificate.
She was a member of Ashton Chapel where she taught preschool Sunday School for 60 years and Vacation Bible Schoool each summer. Marjorie also headed up the Memorial Day program for 35 years at Asthon Cemetery.
