Wayne D. Patton, 90, of 12201 Lark Ave., Rockwell, Iowa, passed away Tuesday Feb. 24, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 27, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Memorials may be made to the Mercy Cancer Center.
Wayne was born June 14, 1913 at Mason City the son of Dan and Etta Patton. Wayne attended rural Clear Lake School. He farmed with his father south of Clear Lake and continued to farm north of Burchinal on the Patton farm, which is close to being a century farm.
Wayne enjoyed his family, going to the movies on Saturdays, and reading the newspaper. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church at Mason City.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Fayne Huntley of Mason City; half-sister, Betty Gilbert, of Mt Pleasant, Iowa; four nephews, Ken Huntley and his wife, Bettie, of Waterloo, Iowa, Keith Huntley and his fiancée, Gloria, of Clear Lake, Ron Huntley, of Clear Lake, Wayne Huntley and his wife, Marge, of Rockwell as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
His parents and an infant sister preceded him in death.
Harriet Naomi Miller died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan, Iowa. She attained the age of 83 years, three months and two days.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with pastors Gundar Lamberts and Jim Warren. Interment was in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Harriet was born the daughter of Clarence S. and Jessie L. Saunders Swartz, on Nov. 23, 1920 in Gilmore City, Iowa. Harriet grew up in Perry and graduated as valedictorian in 1938. After high school she worked for the Perry Daily Chief as a society editor.
Harriet was united in marriage to Ken Miller on Oct. 5, 1942 in Yuma, Az. Her first years of marriage were spent as an Air Force wife living in different places in the western U.S. After Ken was discharged from the service they moved and made their home in Dallas Center, Iowa where their children were born. From 1953 - 1970 Ken and Harriet were editors and publishers of the Armstrong Journal and the Ringsted Dispatch. While in Armstrong, Harriet was active in the church choir, the American Auxiliary, and attended all sports activities as sports editor for the Journal. In 1970 they moved to Mason City where she worked for Dwyer Aircraft until 1980. For one year she worked in the pharmacy at North Iowa Medical Clinic. Harriet was a member of the United Methodist Church, a volunteer at North Iowa Medical Clinic in Mason City, and was very involved in Sweet Adelines.
Harriet retired in 1981 and she and Ken spent their winters in Florence, Az. Because of poor health, Harriet and Ken moved to Harlan in 1997 to be close to their daughter, Barbara. Harriet resided at Elm Crest for almost two years.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Wirtjes and her husband, Gary, Harlan; her son, Barry Miller and his wife, Barbara, Olean, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Betty Jane Lovejoy, Pasadena, Calif.; brother-in-law, Bernard Miller, Glendale, Calif.; six grandchildren, Christopher Wirtjes, Melissa and her husband, Paul Scholten, Mia wirtjes, Nadine Dyskant-Miller, Raymi Dyskant and Erek Dyskant; one great-grandson, Aiden Scholten; other relatives and many friends.

Robert Lee Nutting, 72, of 1511 N. 23rd St, Clear Lake, passed away Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at the First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams, Mason City with the Rev. William Kanne officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Family suggests memorials to Robert L. Nutting memorial fund.
Robert was born the son of Rolland and Dee (Peterson) Nutting in Vichy, Mo. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1949 and then from Mason City Jr. College. While in high school and college he was an accomplished athlete.
Following school he entered the service and served in the US Navy during the Korean War on a submarine as a machinist. He married
Patricia O'Neil in Mason City.
Bob moved back to Mason City following the service and started his career serving in many capacities for Armour including plant manager and superintendent in various plants. He retired in 1993. Bob also worked part-time for Snell's Ambulance and as a mechanic for Snell's for 20 years.

Norma (Huntley) Boehnke Aug. 7, 1992 in Mason City. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, going to races, being a fan of the Hawkeyes and Vikings and he especially enjoyed his poodles. Bob was a very devoted husband and family man
He was a member of First Christian Church, Mason City and the Clear Lake V.F.W.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife, Norma, Clear Lake; granddaughter, Elizabeth Fischbeck, Mason City; children, Marilyn Tecklenburg and her husband, Jeff, Muscatine, Iowa, and Jim Boehnke and his wife, Renee', Clear Lake; son-in-law, John Fischbeck and his wife, Donna, Mason City; nine grandchildren, April Schmitz and her husband, Dale, Jennifer Tecklenburg, Matthew Tecklenburg and his wife, Mandy, Emily Tecklenburg, Brooke Ewing, Evan Tecklenburg, Kelsey Boehnke and Andrew Boehnke; four great-grandchildren and his aunt, Martha Nutting, Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Patricia; daughter, Rhonda Fischbeck; son, David Nutting and sister, Alene Estep.

Randal (Randy) Scott Coyier, 41, of 302 2nd St. N.E., Mason City, Iowa died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 11, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess and Lay Assistant Dick Scott officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5-7 p.m., at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake and then one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Family suggests memorials to the Randy Coyier Memorial Fund.
Randy was born July 21, 1962 in Mason City, the son of James and Valera (Rooks) Coyier.
Randy began his special education in Mason City and then moved to Comprehensive Systems in Charles City. He later moved to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake and has spent the last seven years, due to his health, in Good Shepherd Health Care, Mason City
He enjoyed listening to country music, especially Kenny Rogers, collecting caps, Smurfs and watching sports with his father. On Sunday mornings he enjoyed watching the "Sunday Morning Show" with Charles Kuralt. He enjoyed being around small children and animals. Over the years he enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and winning medals.
Randy will be sadly missed by his father, James Coyier and his wife, Phyllis, Albertville, Minn.; his mother, Valera (Val) Hovelson and her husband, James, Clear Lake; his sister, Dawn Brosdahl and her husband, Jody, Thornton, Iowa; step-sisters, Lisa Nelson and her husband, Neal, Belmond, Iowa, Ann Brown and her husband, Chris, Dahlonega, Ga. and Lisa Wilson and her husband, Scott, Alexandria, Minn.; two step-brothers, Sean Oudekerk and his wife, Karen, Zimmerman, Minn. and Tony Oudekerk, Burnsville, Minn.; two nephews, Tad and Trent Brosdahl; his godmother, Marjorie Toft, Savage, Minn. and godparents, Gary and JoAnn Hughes, Peoria, Az.; two step-grandmothers, Lorraine (Rooks) Woiwod, Clear Lake, and Vida Hovelson, Clear Lake, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wesley and Evelyn Coyier; maternal grandfather, Raymond Rooks; aunt, Ramona Calhoun; two cousins, Shelley and Gary and godfather, David Toft.

Joann Hokel, 68, of Webster City, Iowa, died Monday, March 8, 2004 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with the Rev. John Grebner and the Rev. Doug Tiffany to officiate.
Joann Kirstine Steege, daughter of Glen and Ellen Villadsen Steege was born on July 5, 1935 at Clear Lake. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953. On March 7, 1954, she married
Harold G. Hokel at Clear Lake. The couple resided in Webster City.
Mrs. Hokel was employed in past years at the As You Like It Gift Shop and the Hallmark Store, both in Webster City.
In addition to her husband, Harold, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Karl and Vicki Hokel of Webster City, Kyle and Kim Hokel of Sheboygan, Wis. and Kurt Hokel of Shawnee, Kan.; two granddaughters, Megan and Tiffanee Hokel; a brother, Keith Steege and a sister, Alice Nielsen, both of Clear Lake.
Mrs. Hokel's activities included The Webster City HospitalAuxilary, member and past president of theWomen of the W.E.L.C.A. of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a Sunday school teacher and member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir and Mary Martha Church Womens Circle. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and needlework.
Richard (Dick) Oulman, 82, of 510 Buddy Holly Place, Clear Lake, died Monday, March 8, 2004 at his home.
Memorial service was held Saturday, March 13, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Inurnment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. Military honors were provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Family suggests memorials to Richard Oulman Memorial Fund.
Dick was born June 8, 1921 in Rock Falls, Iowa the son of Nathan R. and Alma Julia (Howe) Oulman. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1941 and was a member of the 1940 Mason City basketball state champion team, which was known as the Fab 5.
Dick served in the United States Navy during WWII on a submarine, the U.S. Tuna, as an electrician.
Dick married
Elizabeth Shovein on Nov. 27, 1945 in Mason City. He worked with his mother in the real estate business. In 1955 he built and operated Melodee Lanes in Clear Lake. In 1965 they moved to Florida and then returned to Clear Lake in 1977 where he again owned and operated Melodee Lanes until his retirement.
He enjoyed gardening; watching sports, especially the Cubs and family get togethers.
Dick is survived by three children, Stephen Oulman and his wife, Kathy, Mason City, Julia Oulman, St. Paul, Minn. and Patricia Berge and her husband, James, Clear Lake; his brother, Gene Oulman and his wife, Vi, Owatonna, Minn.; eleven grandchildren, Beayonka Poulson and her husband, Tim, Jill Oulman, Annie Kollman, Jonathon Kollman, Casey Oulman, BriAnne Kollman, Kelly Geerlings and her husband, Jonathan, Keri Oulman, Teayona Oulman, Nathan Oulman and Carlos Oulman and six great-grandchildren, Trysten Swanson, Kyren Valentine, Myah Brierly, Skylar Blunt, Kein Valentine and Avery Geerlings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Theodore "Ted" Saucke, 87, passed away Sunday, March 7, at Heritage Care Center, Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, March 15, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. A graveside remembrance service was held at the Gowrie Cemetery, Gowrie, Iowa.
Theodore Henry Saucke was born Sept. 14, 1916, the son of Marie Schnormeier Saucke and Henry Saucke. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a graduate of American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ted married
Beatrice Hanson on June 28, 1942 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie. He was in the retail hardware business in Clear Lake for many years, and built numerous residences in the Clear Lake area, and also travel trailers in Elkhart, Ind. He took pride in providing years of fireworks entertainment for Clear Lake's July 4 celebrations and other local activities. Along with his wife, Bea, he enjoyed his hobbies of riding motor scooters, riding Harleys and flying their Cessna.
His surviving family includes his wife, Bea; daughters, Linda (Tom) Sage of Mason City, Lois (Serge) Saucke-Lacelle of Montreal/Sherbrook, Quebec, and Rhonda Saucke of Clear Lake. His grandchildren are Renay (Tom) Nestvedt, Mason City, Matt (Jessy) Sage, Chicago, Ill. and Erin, Amy and Eric Saucke- Lacelle, all of Montreal/Sherbrook, Quebec. Tyler and Justis Nestvedt, Mason City, are his great-grandchildren.
Also left to mourn his passing are his five sisters, LaVern Urelius, Farnhamville, Iowa, Aneta Nelson, Greenfield, Iowa, Cletis Nutting, Mesa, Az. Inez Estlund, Atlanta, Ga. and Imogene Rohovit, St. Paul, Minn. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Evelyn, and brothers, Omar and Orlan.
The family requests memorials may be given to the Theodore Saucke Memorial Fund.
Kimberly Ann McLaughlin, 32, of 411 22nd St SW, Mason City, died Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Fairview-University Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.
A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Michael J. Podhasky, officiating. Private interment was in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Kimberly Ann McLaughlin was born April 19, 1971 at Luke Air Force Base, Glendale, Az., a daughter of Thomas and Mary Jo (Kiefer) Keenan. Moving to Iowa in 1979, Kim attended school at Oelwein, and was a 1989 graduate of Oelwein High School. She attended NIACC and later graduated from La James College, Mason City.
Kim was an instructor at La James College, for two years. She joined Younker's Hair Salon, Mason City and later became a counter manager for Estee Lauder in Younker's cosmetic department. While at home she enjoyed being a Mary Kay representative.
In 1998 Kim developed Primary Pulmonary Hypertension and was awaiting a double lung transplant. Over the years, she did much to raise organ donor awareness and upon her death, became a tissue donor. Kim and her husband, Todd, placed many vending machines in the Mason City area, giving a portion of the proceeds to the Iowa Donor Network.
Kim devoted herself to spending time with her daughter, Taylor and husband, Todd. Her friends were important to her and gave her much support, keeping her spirits up with coffee get-togethers at favorite spots and games of bunko.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City.
Kim is survived by her husband, Todd, and daughter, Taylor, Mason City; her parents, Thomas and Mary Jo Keenan, Clear Lake; in-laws, Larry and Jean McLaughlin, Mason City; two brothers, Michael Keenan and his wife, Sharon, Grimes, Iowa and Christopher Keenan and his wife, Teri, Tiffin, Iowa; maternal grandfather, Robert Kiefer, Clear Lake; a niece, Alison Keenan; a nephew, Sean Keenan; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Marjory Kiefer and paternal grandparents, John and Edna Keenan.

Linda Jean Constien Amundson, 45, of 1307 W. 7th Ave N., Clear Lake, formerly of Green, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2004 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. Memorials may be given to the Linda Jean Amundson Memorial Fund.
Linda was born Dec. 1, 1958, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Francis Henry and Joyce (Otto) Constien. She attended and graduated from Greene High School in 1977. Linda married
Jay Amundson on Jan. 23, 1993 in Clear Lake. She had worked at AC Nielsen's for 15 years and went to Hamilton Business College and graduated with a medical secretary degree. She worked at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa Health Care as a medical secretary.
Linda enjoyed her fishing trips, bowling, cooking, gardening, collecting Indian dolls and figurines and spending time with her many friends and family.
Linda is survived by her husband, Jay Amundson, Clear Lake; two sons, Travis and Eddie Christopherson; her mother, Joyce Constien, Greene, Iowa; two brothers, Michael (Pam) Constien, and David (Sherri) Constien, Greene and a step-daughter, Angie Amundson.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Francis, and several aunts and uncles.

Cleo Glendora Nicholson, 97, a resident of the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond, Iowa, died Friday, March 12, 2004 at the Belmond Health Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16, at Calvary Baptist church, Belmond, with the Rev. Gary Schnieder officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion, Iowa.
Cleo Sefton was born Sept. 11, 1906 at Xenia, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Jones) Sefton. She moved with her family at age eight to Webster City, Iowa. Cleo was united in marriage to Harold Nicholson at Webster city in the mid 1930's. She was a lifelong homemaker. She had worked for a number of years as a cook for the Belmond Community Schools.
Cleo was a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Belmond. The church was a very important part of her life. She looked forward to Sunday morning services and then traveling to visit her sisters, Irene and Thelma.
Family was a very important part of her life, whether it was time spent visiting with them, crocheting them afghans, making them clothing, or playing cards with her grandson, Tracy. Cleo very much loved cats and dogs.
Cleo lived for 13 years at the Belmond Retirement Center and had lived at the care care since February 1998.
She is survived by her sister, Thelma Sefton, Dows, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Shirley Nicholson, Belmond; four step grandchildren, Kimberly Miller, Iowa City, Iowa, Brett and his wife, Sonja, Lobdell, Belmond, Blake and his wife, Jane, Lobdell, Clear Lake, and Tracy Lobdell and his fiancee, Stacey, Marshalltown, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son, Eugene "Nick" Nicholson; an infant son; step-grandson, Kurt Lobdell and a sister, Irene Sefton.
