Alabama School Yearbooks by State and County

Franklin "Frank" Ray Baker, 84, of Clear Lake, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City, Iowa.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating.
Franklin Ray Baker was born on Aug. 15, 1921, the son of Ray Miles and Maytie (Cobb) Baker in rural Clear Lake. He attended and received his elementary education at Baker's School in Lake Township, graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1939. Following his high school graduation he farmed with his family at Baker's Corner east of Clear Lake. In 1942, he worked for the U.S. Government in Washington D.C. He was united in marriage to Ruth Elaine Jensen on June 20, 1943, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, and to this union two sons were born, Jon F. Baker and Michael R. Baker. Frank was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps and trained as a tail gunner on a B-24 aircraft, and was retained as an instructor during World War II. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sgt. in 1946. After his honorable discharge Frank returned to farm with B.F. Baker & Sons and farmed in the Clear Lake area all his life.
In the early 1970's, Frank and Ruth enjoyed traveling to many parts of the U.S. He particulary enjoyed his years of travel.
In 1974, he resumed farming with his son, Mike, and family.
Frank and Ruth moved from the farm into Clear Lake in 1980.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and also served on various church, civic, school, and farm related boards, some of them being Lake Township School Board, Clear Lake School Board, director of the Clear Lake Livestock Shippers Association Board, and the Farmers Cooperative Board.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Elaine Baker of Clear Lake; two sons, Jon Franklin Baker and his wife, Mary Kathryn, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and Michael Ray Baker and his wife, Mary, of Clear Lake; four grandchildren, Heather Eidt and her husband, John, Jeff Baker, David Baker and his wife, Gina, and Mark Baker; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Lizzie) and John (Jack) Eidt; a sister, Madge Brandau of Osage, Iowa as well as other relatives and many friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

Florence Riggs, 86, Clear Lake, died Jan. 20, 2006 at Muse-Norris Hospice of Mason City, Iowa. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jan Burnett officiating. Memorials may be given to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
Florence Lorraine (Farnham) Riggs was the fifth child of Sarah and Fred Farnham born in Hewitt, Minn. Florence's father was a minister in the small Iowa churches of Le Mars, Galt, Lamoille, Farnhamville, and Rowan. Florence graduated from Rowan High School in 1936. She attended junior college in Hibbing, Minn. and graduated from the secretarial program. Florence was working at First State Bank in Webster City, Iowa when she met Robert Riggs at the Webster City EUB church. Florence and Robert were married March l, 1942 in Ames, Iowa.
The first four years of their marriage was spent moving around to Robert's army assignments. After the army Robert and Florence resided in Iowa City, Iowa while Robert completed college.
In 1951 the family moved to Clinton, Iowa where Robert worked at Jane Lamb Hospital. They lived in Iowa City until 1954. The couple had three children: Brian, Ruth Ann and Gail.
In June of 1954 Florence and Robert were accepted as missionaries of the Methodist Church and assigned to Korea. The family's departure was delayed in Seattle, Wash. to wait for the birth of Eric, who made his appearance in November 1955. In March of 1956 the family sailed to Seoul, Korea. Robert worked as administrator to Severance Hospital in the capital Seoul. Florence became fairly fluent in the Korean language. She worked with widows from the Korean War and also worked on the staff of the Yonsie Medical College and Severance Hospital in addition to setting up the house.
In 1968 Robert and Florence completed their mission term and returned to the U.S. They have since worked and lived in Ames, Clinton, Cedar Rapids, and Sidney, Iowa and finally retired to Clear Lake in 1985.
Florence was a member of Clear Lake First United Methodist Church and a member of UMW.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; two children, Brian Riggs and his wife, Gail, Point of Rocks, M.D. and Gail Meyer and her husband, Lother, Clear Lake, and six grandchildren, who have blessed her life.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; all her brothers and sisters, and her children, Ruth Ann and Eric.

Josephine Rita De La Fuente, 2005 1st Ave S., Clear Lake, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave S., Clear Lake, with Msgr. Robert Hogan officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Josephine De La Fuente Muse-Norris Hospice Fund.
Josephine Rita De La Fuente was born Monday, May 21, 1934 in Mason City, the daughter of Jim and Carmen (Trujello) Osegera. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1955.
On Dec. 21, 1957 she was united in marriage to Jose I. De La Fuente at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. They made their home in Clear Lake where she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, and she volunteered at the Village General Store. Josephine went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 after a courageous battle with Leukemia, with her family at her side at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Joe, of Clear Lake; three daughters, Salina Ubben and husband, Jim of Maple Grove, Minn., Ronda Schroader and husband, Darin, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Dora Yoder and husband, Charles, of Kalona, Iowa; a son, William De La Fuente, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Morgan Yoder and Nathan Ubben; a step-grandson, Tyler Schroader and three brothers, Phillip Osegera and wife, Sandy, of Mason City, James Osegaro and wife, Jean, of Storm Lake, Iowa and Jim Osegera Jr. and wife, Judy, of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Riley Yoder.

Ottilie Ehresmann, 87, Clear Lake, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake,. She will be inurned at Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. According to her wishes her body has been cremated.
Ottilie was born Jan. 19, 1919 in Germany, the daughter of Wlheme and Crolin Mardon. She was born and raised on a farm in Germany and worked on the family farm after graduating from high school. At age 19 she married Karl Ehresmann and came to America at the age of 25. They settled in Belmond, Iowa before moving to Clear Lake. She worked as a nurse's aid at the Oakwood Care Center for 24 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her sister, Hilda Wandolski, Languerril, Quebec Canada, and two nieces, Brigitte Wandolski, Varennes, Quebec Canada and Marlene Wandolski, Prefontaine.
Ottilie was preceded in death by her parents.

Arlis H. Meyer, 94, of Garner, Iowa, formerly of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with the Rev. Dale Glawatz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Cataldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials preferred to Hospice of North Iowa.
Arlis Helena Meyer, the daughter of Walter and Etta (Johnson) Geisler, was born Jan. 31, 1911 at La Houge, Ill. At the age of four she moved with her family by train to Iowa, settling on a farm north of Clear Lake. She was baptized at the Garner Methodist Church in 1927. Arlis attended several rural schools and graduated from Ventura High School. On Feb. 18, 1930 she was married to Alvin E. Meyer at Clear Lake. They lived on the Meyer homestead southeast of Garner until 1936 when they moved to a farm northwest of Ventura. There they raised their family and farmed. They also raised turkeys for many years. Arlis was well known for her delicious turkey dinners with all the trimmings. In 1956 they moved to their new home in Ventura where Arlis continued her love of flowers, gardening and entertaining. In 1970 they moved to a smaller home in Clear Lake. They enjoyed traveling in their trailer and spent many winters in their mobile home in Mesa, Az. After Alvin passed away in 1989, Arlis moved to Prairie View Apartments in Garner where she lived for the next 12 years. She enjoyed her family, working in the yard, flowers, crocheting, playing cards, pets and horses.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner and was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura.
Arlis is survived by her five children, Alvin (Frances) Meyer, Jr. of Ventura, Jim (Jo) Meyer of Clear Lake, Mari (Carrol) Albers of Garner, Boni (Virgil) Pringnitz of Garner and Bob (Jan) Meyer of Mason City; 15 grandchildren, Cindy Dvorak, Jeff Meyer, Richard (Michele) Meyer, Candy Pitkin, Brad (Nancy) Meyer, Tim Meyer, Juli (Jim) Knapp, Russ (Jenny) Albers, Stefani (Hans) Griesser, Ryan (Lisa) Albers, Dawn (Al) Kaduce, Sue Pringnitz, Kim Frank, Kelley (Rick) Hammitt and Robi Meyer; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Emery Geisler of Nora Springs, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, June Geisler of Moline, Ill. and Lydia Schneider of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her parents; an infant great-grandchild; and two sisters, Myrtle Lemke and Dorothy Schmitt; and three brothers, Donald, Lyle and Warren Geisler.

Helen Sargent, 87, a former resident of Clear Lake, died Jan. 25, 2006 in Sun City, Az. A memorial service will be held at Mountain Memorial Gardens in Mesa, Az. in April. Memorial contributions may be sent in Helen's name to the Memorial and Honor Program American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 1132 Fairfax, VA 22038-1132.
Shortly after her marriage to Dr. Earl Sargent, she and her family moved to Clear Lake where she was a member of the Methodist Church, the P.E.O. Sisterhood and T.T.T. Society. She and her husband moved to Mesa, where they lived for 30 years. Helen, an accomplished bridge player, became a Life Master in duplicate bridge.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Sargent of Peoria, Az. and Elaine Watschke of State College, Penn. and one grandson, Jon Watschke of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dr. Earl O. Sargent; her brother, Henley; and her parents.

Corrine E. Miller, 90, of 400 Highway 18 West, Clear Lake, died Thursday Feb. 2, 2006 at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. A celebration of her life was held on her 91st birthday on Monday, Feb. 6, at the Church of Christ in Fertile, Iowa with Rev. Curt Gallmeyer officiating. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of North Iowa.
Corrine was born Feb. 6, 1915, the daughter of John and Janet (Halvorson) Zobel at Goodrich, Minn.
Corrine married Verle Miller on March 15, 1933 at Mason City. She lived most of her life in Fertile. Corrine and her sister, Doris, operated the restaurant in Fertile for several years. Corrine also farmed with her husband and worked at Winnebago Industries in the upholstery department.
Corrine enjoyed reading books, playing cards, camping, fishing, doing puzzles, having fun and playing practical jokes. She was known for her cooking, making lefse and baking her apple pies. She was a member of the Fertile Senior Citizens and the Fertile Church of Christ.
Corrine is survived by her four children, Earl (Donna) Miller; Marlin (Dianne) Miller; Jean (Dan) Blake, and Jack (Eva) Miller all of Clear Lake; 16 grandchildren, Sheila (Michael) Ball; Arlyn (Claudia) Miller; Dan (Penny) Miller; LuAnn (Dick) Paulson; Jeffrey Miller; Shawn (Dan) Charlson; Jerry (Doreen) Gudmonson; Mark (Linda) Gudmonson; Laurie (Allen) Deuschle; Curtis (Margaret) Blake; Jack Junior Miller; Janelle Herzberg; Linda Peterson; Richard (Rita) Miller; Gary (Sue) Miller; Eric Miller and friend, Kim; grandson-in-law, Phillip Krambeer; 39 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Viola Roberts, Leona Meeks and Verna Butts; three brothers-in-law, Glennis (Flo) Miller; Amos (Irene) Miller and Orland (Marlys) Miller; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Viola Evans, Ruth Zobel, Doris Burtness; four brothers, Maynard, Edgar, Marvin, Harold Zobel and a infant brother; granddaughter, Rhonda Krambeer; great-grandson, Kenneth Herzberg; and son-in-law, Don Gudmonson.

Marie M. Duesenberg, 95, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006.
Marie was born Dec. 24, 1910, in Garner, Iowa a daughter of Henry and Eva (Hix) Duesenberg. She was a graduate of Garner High School, attended Morningside College for two years, and taught in Iowa schools for 13 years. She received a B.A. degree from the University of Colorado, and a library science degree from the University of Illinois. She was employed with the Battle Creek Willard Library in 1946 as head of the Circulation Department, and retired in 1976 as assistant director. She was a charter member of the Battle Creek Travel Club and was active on the board of the Humane Society-Calhoun area for 19 years. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Battle Creek Altrusa Club.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Private services and burial will be held in Concord Cemetery in Garner at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society-Calhoun area or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, Kalamazoo, Mich.

Sammie Jo Cagle, 69, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Galilean Lutheran Church, Highway 18 West, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jeff Ungs officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Abernathy Cemetery in Abernathy, Texas. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to A.A. of Clear Lake in memory of Sammie Jo Cagle.
Sammie Jo Cagle, 69, was born on Nov. 24, 1936 at Hail Center, Texas, the daughter of Cran and Dixie (Moore) Pittman. She attended and received her education in the Petersburg, Texas schools. Sammie worked several years as a dental assistant in Huntsville, Ala. where she lived from 1967 until moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1982. She worked for a real estate agent in Cedar Rapids for a few years until moving to Clear Lake in 1987. Sammie was very active in doing volunteer work in Clear Lake, being involved in Tri T, and Art in the Park in Clear Lake. She was also very active in the AA program in Clear Lake.
Sammie enjoyed gardening, home decorating, collecting snow babies, and playing bridge, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Wesley Cagle and his wife, Leslie, of Houma, La., and Brad Cagle and his wife, Shelly, of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Christie Ann Ottaway and Matthew Allen Ottaway of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wesley Joseph Cagle and Heather Bergeron of Houma, La., Lisa Trulson and her husband, Joshua, of Mason City, Iowa; a sister, Betty Lynn Hobgood of Happy, Texas, as well as other relatives and many friends.
Sammie was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Theresa and a brother, Billy Pittman.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of the services.

Jane Greimann, Ames, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 9, at Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames. Burial was in Ames.
Jane was born Jan. 25, 1942 in Klemme, Iowa to Chet and Ina Mae (Jarchow) Renner. She graduated from Klemme High School in 1960. Jane acquired a degree in textile and clothing from Iowa State University in 1964 and a teaching certificate in 1980.
She married Lowell Greimann in Klemme on June 7, 1964. They lived in Boulder, Colo. and San Antonio, Texas before moving to Ames in 1973.
Jane taught art, health, and family and consumer science at Nevada Junior High for 16 years. She retired from full-time employment in 1998.
Jane volunteered extensively at Collegiate Presbyterian Church and also volunteered for several services activities in the community. She served in the House of Representatives of the Iowa Legislature for five years. Jane also enjoyed horses, shade gardening, painting, clay pottery and sculpture, home improvement projects, sewing, reading, and her friends.
Jane will be missed by her husband, Lowell Greimann of Ames; three children and six grandchildren: Chad (Chris) Greimann and their children, Zachary, Emma, Alexander and Evelyn Mae of Iowa City, Amy (Winston) Trotter and their daughter, Isabella, of Bolingbrook, Ill.; and Blair (Angie) Greimann and their daughter, Eve, of Denver, Colo. Additional survivors include her father, Chet (Elsie) Renner of Clear Lake; two brothers, Bill Renner of Garner, Iowa and Tom Renner of Ventura.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ina Mae.
