Lucile D. McKenzie
March 19, 1915 - July 9, 2000
Lucile D. McKenzie, 85, of Keokuk, formerly of Williston, Vt., died on Sunday, July 9, 2000, in Keokuk.
She was born on March 19, 1915, in Essex Junction, Vt., the daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen Forbes Douglas. She was the wife of the late Raymond H. McKenzie. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Brior of Ellenburg Center, N.Y. and Gail Tyler of Keokuk; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
At her request a memorial service will be held at a later date in Essex Junction.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is in charge of local arrangements.
Hollis A. Kerr
Dec. 5, 1930 - April 16, 2001
FARMINGTON - Hollis A. Kerr, 70, of Farmington, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2001, at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1930, in Chambersburg, Mo., the son of Forest and Beatrice Morrison Kerr. He married
Iris Coffin on Sept. 3, 1950, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.
Additional survivors include: a daughter, Becky Fry and her husband, Mike, of Farmington; three grandchildren, Angela Bell and her husband, Travis of West Point, Dustin Coleman of Farmington, Kerby Fry of Farmington; two brothers, Hillis Kerr and his wife, Joan and Stuart Kerr and his wife, Charlotte, all of Farmington; two sisters, Ila, Mrs. Pearl Woods of Lebanoni, Mo., and Patty, Mrs. Boyd Woods of Kahoka; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Smith of Farmington; and a brother-in-law, Charles Coffin of Donnellson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law; sister-in-law; and a nephew.
He graduated from Revere High School, Revere, Mo.
Mr. Kerr was a Farmington resident for 50 years.
He was an agent for Ayers Oil Company.
Mr. Kerr was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Farmington and the Farmington American Legion.
He enjoyed his grandchildren and raising cattle on his acreage.
Mr. Kerr was a member of the United Methodist Church, Farmington.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Farmington, with the Rev. Marlene and Richard Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington.
Visitation is after noon Wednesday with family meeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington.
Memorials may be made to the Farmington E.M.T.s or the Farmington United Methodist Church.
Lois Irene Steffen
Feb. 9, 1913 - Dec. 20, 2001
MONTROSE - Lois Irene Steffen, 88, of Montrose, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1913, in LaPlata, Mo., the daughter of William Bernard and Nora Eller Barnes. She married
Elmo "Curley" Steffen on March 15, 1930. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1996.
Survivors include: two daughters, Nora Hill and her husband, Steve, of Danville and Melissa Hobbs and her husband, Scott, of Montrose; three sons, John Steffen of Montrose, Bernard Steffen and his wife, Evelyn, and Rick Steffen and his wife, Sandy, all of Fort Madison; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Iona Nichols of Muscatine.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lee Steffen; a sister; a brother; and a granddaughter.
She had been a resident of Lee County since 1921, coming to Fort Madison from LaPlata, Mo. She graduated from the Fort Madison High School with the Class of 1930.
Mrs. Steffen and her husband had operated a dairy farm south of West Point for 65 years.
A time of remembrance will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at the home of her son, 2791 River Hills Road in Fort Madison.

Arlo J. 'Jack' Bughman
Feb. 10, 1926 - June 15, 2002
Arlo J. "Jack" Bughman, 76, of Keokuk, died at 6:54 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1926, in Ferris, Ill., the son of Herbert L. and Zella M. Caldwell Bughman. He married
Nancy Yager on June 24, 1956, in Keokuk. She survives.
Additional survivors include: a daughter, Jan L. Bughman of Quincy, Ill.; a son, Lee B. Bughman and his wife, Judy, of Moline, Ill.; a grandson, Bradley Bughman of Moline; and a sister, Marilyn P. McDonald and her husband, Karold, of Keokuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He had lived in Keokuk since 1929.
Mr. Bughman majored in chemistry at Culver-Stockton College.
He was employed as chief chemist at Midwest Carbide for 22 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a licensed amateur radio operator and his interests included photography, computers and radio controlled model airplanes.
Mr. Bughman was a member of the First Baptist Church in Keokuk and had served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and as a deacon.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk, with Pastor Dale Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk, following the services.
Visitation is today at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Keokuk.
Leo Kenneth Schreck
June 11, 1929 - Aug. 5, 2002
Leo Kenneth Schreck, 73, of Keokuk, died at 1:04 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
He was born on June 11, 1929, in Keokuk, the son of William J. and Gladys Kilkenny Schreck. He married
Betty M. Uhlmeyer on Aug. 28, 1948, in St. Patrick, Mo. She survives.
Additional survivors include: three sons, Leslie L. Schreck of Jensen Beach, Fla., Rodney J. Schreck and his wife, Marijo of Manchester and Daniel K. Schreck of Fairfield; three daughters, Pam Starr and her husband, Mick, of Keokuk, Cindy Gillett and her husband, Vic, of Boise, Idaho and Julie Padron and her husband, Al, of West Bend, Wis.; six grandchildren, Danielle Scrupps, Beth Seeger, Brent Starr, Breanna Starr, Will Schreck and Anna Schreck; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Verlin of Chicago, John of Vidalia, Ga., and Robert of Alexandria, Mo.; and a sister, Joan Logsdon of Keokuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul.
He had spent most of his life in Keokuk, graduating from St. Peters High School in 1947.
Mr. Schreck was a barber from 1958 to 1995.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus De La Salle 619 and BPOE Lodge 106.
Mr. Schreck was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Church, with the Rev. Christopher David officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery, St. Patrick.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at Greaves Mortuary, with family meeting friends after 6 p.m. An Elks memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today and a Christian vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. today, both at the mortuary.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Catholic Schools.
John H. Boyd
Dec. 23, 1917 - Feb. 28, 2003
John H. Boyd, 85, of Keokuk, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
He was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Sandusky, the son of Robert and Nellie Coulter Boyd. He married
Marjorie McKay on Nov. 19, 1938, in Sandusky. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Boyd of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Gretchen Petry and her husband Charles of St. Peter, Minn., Judy Schlotter and her husband Tom Reis of Gilbert; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Boyd and Vicki Boyd; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Boyd of Keokuk; a cousin, Olive Megchelsen; two nieces, Jan Lancaster of Atlanta, Ga., and Linda Griffey of Palm Springs, Calif.
He also was preceded in death by a son, John Roger Boyd and a brother Marshall Boyd.
He graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1935.
Mr. Boyd was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Jerauld during World War II.
He had been employed by Union Electric Power Plant in Keokuk for 27 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Elks Club in Keokuk and VFW Post #3508.
Mr. Boyd loved to play golf, go fishing and watch the ducks and other wildlife. He enjoyed woodworking and photography. He was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
There is no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Iowa Nature Conservancy or Lee County Hospice.
