Paul Cecil Knoche
Paul Cecil Knoche, was stillborn at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Survivors include: his parents, Philip and Carol Knoche of Carthage; a sister, Kristina; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Iola Shipman of Carthage; paternal grandparents, Paul and Celine Knoche of Warsaw, Ill.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Tanya Renee Knoche.
Friends may visit the family at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Private graveside services will be held at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage at a later date.
Larry C. 'Craig' Guy
Aug. 24, 1942 - Nov. 30, 2003
Larry C. "Craig" Guy, 61, of Keokuk died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at 9 p.m. at his home.
He was born to Wilson M. and Zola F. Boltz Guy on Aug. 24, 1942, in Keokuk.
He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk.
Mr. Guy was a truck driver for many years and was a dispatcher for Pryor Trucking at the time of his retirement.
He was a United States Army veteran serving from May of 1964 to May of 1966.
He was married
to Donna M. Schmarje on March 23, 1968, in Illinois.
Mr. Guy was a member of the V.F.W. and was the past president of the Southside Boat Club.
Survivors include: a son, J.W. Guy and his wife, Beth, of Keokuk; a daughter, Amy Hanlin and her husband, Mark, of Montrose; five grandchildren, Makenzie, Taylor and Madelyn Guy and Savannah and Lucas Hanlin; and three brothers, Wilson Guy and his wife, Rose, of Honolulu, Hawaii, John Guy and his wife, Norma, of Keokuk and Robert Guy and his wife, Raylene, of Revere, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dr. Sallie Guy on Aug. 31, 1991.
Funeral services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Greaves Mortuary, Keokuk, with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
Visitation begins after 4 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, with family meeting friends from 6 to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
Bertha Kathryne Watson
May 24, 1912 - Jan. 10, 2004
Bertha Kathryne Watson, 91, of Keokuk, died at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born May 24, 1912 in Warsaw, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Ethel Landers Kircherr. She married
Richard Kenneth Watson on Sept. 11, 1954 in Pocahontas, Ark. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2002.
She had lived in the Warsaw and Keokuk area most of her life.
Mrs. Watson had been employed in production at Sheller-Globe for 30 years, retiring in 1972.
She had then worked in the dietary department at Keokuk Area Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1987. She also worked in concession stands at area ballparks.
Mrs. Watson was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk.
She was an avid coin collector; doll collector; and quilt maker, having made 150 quilts. She also enjoyed ceramics and had operated her own ceramics shop.
Survivors include: a daughter, Shirley Woods of Keokuk; three grandchildren, Shelley Travis of Warsaw, Tim Woods and his wife, Lonna, of Davenport, and Todd Woods and his wife, Terrie, of Keokuk; six great-grandchildren, Zachary and Layton Travis of Warsaw, Tyler, Cory and Austin Woods of Davenport and Drake Woods of Keokuk; a sister, Lidia Wright of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Morris and Mildred Collins.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, with Rev. William S. Mitchell officiating.
The procession to the cemetery will leave DeJong's Funeral Home at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday.
The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Marguerite M. O'Hara
Jan. 2, 1901 - Jan. 18, 2004
Marguerite M. O'Hara, 103, of Keokuk, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at 8:45 a.m. at Lexington Square, Keokuk.
She was born to John and Emma Klepser O'Hara on Jan. 2, 1901, in Keokuk.
She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk.
She graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1919, then graduated from St. Peter's Business College.
She worked at A. Weber Company for 20 years. She then worked at Sheller's for 25 years, retiring in 1966.
After retirement, she then continued to run the O'Hara Strawberry Farm just outside of town.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
She was a member of the U.A.W.
Survivors include: a nephew, Phil O'Hara and his wife, Kathy, of Keokuk; a niece-in-law, Pat O'Hara of Keokuk; a sister-in-law, Charlotte O'Hara of Keokuk; three great-nephews, Mike O'Hara of Quincy, Ill., Mark O'Hara of Atlanta, Ga., and Jeff O'Hara and his wife, Mary, of Keokuk; two great-nieces, Kim O'Hara of Keokuk and Suzi Harper and her husband, Sam, of Spencer; and a great-great-nephew, Mason O'Hara of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Bernard, Joseph, Raymond Ike and Francis O'Hara; and a nephew, Ray O'Hara.
Funeral mass will be at All Saints Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Christopher David officiating.
Burial will be in the Middle Catholic Section of Oakland Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or Keokuk Catholic Schools.
Arrangements are being handled by Greaves Mortuary, Keokuk.
Leonard 'Ray' Long
Oct. 8, 1931 - Jan. 16, 2004
LISBON - Leonard "Ray" Long, 72, of Lisbon, formerly of Canton, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, in his Lisbon home.
Memorial services were today at the Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mt. Vernon Chapel with Christine Wagner-Hecht, Chaplain at Hospice of Mercy, Cedar Rapids, officiating.
Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home.
Per his wishes, burial of the cremated remains will be Saturday in St. Patrick's Cemetery, St. Patrick, Mo., with military rites.
Survivors include: his wife of Lisbon; a daughter, Melissa (Quinn) Nissen of Marion; three sons, Ken (Marsha) Long of Mount Pleasant, Kent (Susan) Long of LaGrange, Mo., and Harold Raymond Long of Canton; two sisters, Marilyn Roach of Canton and Janell (Fred) Boltz of Keokuk; a sister-in-law, Joan Long of Davenport; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special family members Tom and Michelle "Mickey" Smith of Enid, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a son Kim who died in 1989; three brothers, Huston, Dick and Bobbie; and two sisters, Pauline Gallant and Alice Horne.
He was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Canton, the son of Leonard Kenneth and Loretta Leona Stout Long.
He was a member of the Armed Forces serving from 1950 to 1954 in Korea, with the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper for the U.S. Army.
He married
Beverly Jean Bringer in 1954. She died in 1957. He married
Donna "Susie" Pieper in November 1976.
Mr. Long was an iron worker and a member of the Iron Workers Union Local No. 89, for 35 years, retiring in November of 1991.
He was a member of the American Legion Cyclops Post #109 of Lisbon.
Mr. Long loved mushroom hunting, playing cards, and being with family and friends.
He especially enjoyed "takin' care of his buddy, Boots."

Gert E. Blaise-Choate
Dec. 21, 1929 - Jan. 20, 2004
Gert E. Blaise-Choate, 74, of Keokuk, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at 2:52 p.m. at her home.
She was born to Lawrence and Lyda Bennett Hedrick on Dec. 21, 1929, in Keokuk.
She had been a lifelong resident of Keokuk.
Mrs. Blaise-Choate operated the Star Cleaners until 1973 and then worked at St. Louis Dye Casting, retiring in 1983.
She married
Paul Blaise in September of 1950. He preceded her in death in 1986. She then married
James Choate. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. Blaise-Choate was a member of the First Christian Church of Keokuk.
She was an avid bowler and in 1994 was inducted into the Keokuk Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She held many different offices in the association during her many years of bowling.
Survivors include: two daughters, Paula Stepp and her husband, Chuck, of Keokuk and Karen Huston and her husband, Fred, of Fort Madison; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services are Friday at 1 p.m. at Greaves Mortuary, Keokuk, with Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating.
Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Friday at the mortuary until the time of services.
