Carol Gansy, 66, Donnellson
DONNELLSON – Carol Lee Kephart Gansy, 66, of Donnellson, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Thursday March 16, 2017, at her home.
She was born Nov. 6, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Rodney Ellis and Mary Jo Bogie Kephart.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Gansy of Donnellson; and four children, Robert (Carol) Kephart of Donnellson, Angela (Randy) Kruse of Salem, John (Amy) Smithburg of Mount Pleasant and Katrina (Kevin) Gipple of Mount Pleasant.
Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. today (Sunday) at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson.
The family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, with Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Evangelical Cemetery near Donnellson.
Jack Fader, 87, Keokuk
Jack L. Fader, 87, of Keokuk, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 28, 2017, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers.
Robert Shuman, 93, Keokuk
Robert Joseph Shuman, 93, of Keokuk, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at his home.
Robert was born on Aug. 21, 1923, in Gregory Landing, Mo., the son of James Alan and Virginia Louise Glisan Shuman.
He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Neves.
She preceded him in death in 1984.
On June 21, 1995, he was united in marriage to Ruth Wibbens in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives.
Robert lived most of his life in Keokuk. He worked for Sheller Globe in maintenance.
He was a member of Church of All Saints, and a former member of Eagles Club.
He enjoyed snowbirds in Lofton, Nev., and spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth Shuman of Keokuk; his children, Jim (Gloria) Shuman of Winchester, Va., Donna Davidson of Warsaw, Ill., Linda Hendricks of Hamilton, Ill., Rose (Joe) Moore of Donnellson, Joe (Lois) Shuman of Keokuk, Kim (Terry) Vradenberg of Keokuk, Tony (Janis) Shuman of Hamilton, Rick Shuman of Keokuk, Kelley (Delbert) Gilbert of Charleston and Mark (Tracey) Shuman of Wayland, Mo.; a brother, John (Willa) Shuman of Kahoka, Mo.; a sister, Mekey Laffoon of Lebannon, Mo.; a son-in-law, Thomas Carskadon of Keokuk; a daughter-in-law, Linda Shuman of Hamilton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Mark (Jenny) Wibbens of Worthington, Minn., and Michael (Lois) Wibbens of North Sioux City, S.D.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; two sons, David and Harold Shuman; a daughter, Diane Carskadon; a sister, Vivian Shuman; two brothers in infancy; three sons-in-law, Harry Hendricks, Steve Horn and Gene Davidson; a niece, Melissa; a nephew, Chisum; brother-in-law, Gene Laffoon; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Shuman.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Monday at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers, 917 Blondeau St., Keokuk, officiated by Father Dennis Hoffman.
Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at DeJong-Greaves, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Church of All Saints.
Helen Atterberg, 83, Keokuk
Helen Louise Atterberg, 83, of Keokuk, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk.
She was born in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Albert E. and Edith Millekin Newell.
On May 5, 1973, she was united in marriage to Harold Leroy Atterberg in Hamilton, Ill.
He preceded her in death on March 30, 2011.
Helen had been employed at several different businesses through the years, including Swifts, Woolworth and Jacks, all in Keokuk.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Keokuk and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Helen enjoyed shopping, working word search puzzles and watching her two favorite television shows, “The Price is Right” and “The Young and the Restless.”
She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
She is survived by four sons, Thomas Mullen (Linda) of Keokuk, David Mullen (Linda Sue) of Keokuk, Mark Mullen (Minhui) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Richard Mullen of Keokuk; a daughter, Cynthia Lovell (Kenneth Jr.) of Montrose; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Teena Caldwell of Farmington, Mo., Tonya Ferguson (Hugh) of Warsaw, Ill., and Tamara Christenson (Tim) of Camano Island, Wash.; a stepson, Roger Atterberg of Keokuk; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Newell of Bitterford, Maine, and Richard Newell of South Portland, Maine; and three sisters, Emily DeQuina of Chandler, Ariz., and Pauline French and Marion D’Fiore, both of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Alice Sweetser; and a brother, Albert Newell.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with Pastor Dave Barrett officiating.
A private family graveside service will be held.
Visitation will be from 2 tp 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with family meeting with friends at that time.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Keokuk.

William "Bill" White Sr., 68, Argyle
ARGYLE – William John “Bill” White Sr., 68, of Argyle, who went missing Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, as the result of a fishing accident in Montrose, was recovered on Saturday, March 4, 2017, in Hamilton, Ill.
His body has been entrusted to Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.
A private family graveside service will be held in Argyle Memorial Gardens near Argyle.
Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Reginald L. Neal, 94, Columbus, Miss.
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Reginald L. Neal, 94, passed away Feb. 23, 2017.
He was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Keokuk, to Karrie L. Wilkerson and Burrell R. Neal Sr.
Survivors include a son and seven stepchildren, including locally, Thomas Webb of Keokuk.
Services were at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Zion MB Church, with the Rev. Slater officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was held from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home Chapel.

FORT MADISON – Mabel L. Wise, 84, of Fort Madison, died early Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, in her home.
