Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at National Cemetery in Vining, with Pastor Tom Murr officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Graveside military rites will be given.

He was laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with full military honors by State Center American Legion Harlan Pfantz Post No. 122.

Helen L. Schmidt, 82, of Nisswa, Minn., formerly of Marshalltown, died April 29, 2006, in Pequot Lakes, Minn.
Memorial services were held Thursday at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, Minn., with Rev. David Stevens officiating. Interment was in Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery at Camp Ripley. GILMAN - Raymond L. Haines, 73, of Gilman, died May 2, 2006, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with Rev. Susan Leathen officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman. CORALVILLE - Nile Lewis, 56, of 1906 13th St., Coralville, died May 3, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Nile’s wishes were to be cremated. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, with Rev. Judy Gingerich officiating.
