Jean E. Andersen, 78, a resident of the Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died there Sunday, February 15, 2009, following a long illness. Services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Langley of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from noon to 1 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include five daughters Judy Cain of Tamms, Illinois, Mary Hargrafen of Fairfax, Maggie Nordland of Clarinda, Iowa, Barbara Randles of Richmond, Texas, and Kathy Emmert of Cedar Rapids, three sisters Janet Nix of Olive Branch, Illinois, Jo Sue of Columbus, Ohio, and Ellen O’Neil of Naperville, Illinois, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Bill and David Everett, and a sister Mary Friedman.
Jean was born May 29, 1930 in Drostat, Missouri to Dave and Gertrude McClure Everett. She married
John W. (Jack) Andersen on January 25, 1969 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2004. Jean was employed by the Cedar Rapids Community Schools in food services, she had also been employed at Turner Microphone and Russell Guides. She was one of the original female members of the Cedar Rapids Police Department in the 1950’s. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Medical Center Building Fund.
Frances B. Anderson
Born in Afton, Iowa on January 27, 1951

Frances Anderson 58, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, following a lengthy battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday at St. Paul’s. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her son Nate Sanderson and daughter-in-law Donita of Letts, Iowa, brothers Roger Blobaum of Washington DC, Reed Blobaum and Redge Blobaum both of Des Moines, Romaine Blobaum of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, Robert Blobaum of Lorimor, Iowa, Richard Blobaum of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and her beloved dog “Gracie” of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Bonnie Bambrough.
Frances was born January 27, 1951 in Afton, Iowa to Gus and Rosella Dreher Blobaum. She was employed as an office manager at Flemming Landscape and Irrigation Inc. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and a longtime volunteer for the Salvation Army. She enjoyed reading, gardening, serving her community, and getting as much as she could out of a dollar at local thrift stores.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name.

Gladys I. Aakre, 98, of Cedar Rapids, died March 27, 2009 following a short illness. Funeral will be held 11:00 AM, Monday March 30, 3009 at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her nieces Judy Argo and Sharon Mow both of Cedar Rapids, and Barbara (Bob) Davidson of St. Louis; nephew Richard Klouda of Las Vegas, NV; great nieces and nephews Richard (Laura) Argo of Cedar Rapids, Nichole Argo of Boston, MA, Karen Mow of San Diego, CA, and Irelynn, Englynn, and Scottlynn Klouda all of Las Vegas, NV; and 3 great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clarence Aakre, and sister Lillian Klouda.
Gladys Irene Aakre was born October 13, 1910 the daughter of John and Hilda Aakre. She attended Cedar Rapids Business College. She was employed for over 30 years at Bishop’s and retired as Purchasing Agent. She was a member of The Altrusa Club, Sons of Norway, Republican Women, and First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, and throughout her life traveled the country and the world. She greatly enjoyed time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gladys’ honor.

Nahla Rose Alloway, 1, of 1424 Bever Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, died April 5, 2009, at home after a sudden illness. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, 4200 First Ave. NE, by Pastor Charles Brooks. Burial: Garden of Angels, Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A private family viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 17. Public visitation: one hour before services Saturday at the chapel.
Survivors include her mother, Karen Phelps; her stepfather, Aaron Metras; her birth father, Matthew Alloway; her grandparents, Marylan Annette and Floyd Taylor and Donald Phelps Sr., all of Cedar Rapids, and Scott Metras and Ben and Sandy Alloway, both of Rockford, Ill.; aunts, Jennifer and Keira Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Lela Farra of St. Marys, Ga., and Anna Phelps and Rebecca and Leela Alloway, all of Rockford, Ill.; uncles, Floyd Taylor Jr. and Donald Phelps Jr., both of Cedar Rapids, and Daniel and Josiah Alloway and Reginald Foreman, all of Rockford, Ill.; and a great many other relatives and friends.
Nahla made her appearance into this world on April 1, 2008, and fooled us all. She brought joy and happiness to everyone who knew her. She could brighten a room with just a look or get a laugh with a quick smile.
We will miss you dearly little angel. Go play with those angel wings.

Michael Aldridge, 44, of 6515 Parkview Dr SE, died Monday June 8, 2009 in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy from a short battle with cancer. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7 and after 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the chapel.
Survivors include his mother, Linda, two brothers, Roger and Randy, a sister, Carolyn (Steve) Carnicle, 3 nieces, Lisa (Nathan) Armstrong, Amanda Carnicle (Charles) Tiffany (Chad) Carter, his aunt, Dorothy (Earl) Swhabe, three uncles, Carson, Van and Alvin Aldridge. Also surviving are many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Basil, and sister, Cathy.
Michael was born April 18, 1965 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Basil and Linda Aldridge. He loved the outdoors fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and his dog Buddy.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial fund has been established by the family.

James Eric “Jim” Anderson, 52, of 3400 McGowan Blvd., Marion, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, surrounded by family, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a long and courageous battle with the complications of diabetes. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Phil Jorgensen. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his parents, William G. and Anna Anderson of Cedar Rapids; brother, William H. Anderson of Cedar Rapids, sisters, Rebecca (Thomas C.) Beusch of Kildeer, IL, Jeanne (Thomas G.) Hoyt of Overland Park, KS, Lisa (Richard J.) Twedt, and Lori (Tom E.) Hampton, both of Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his infant sister, Gail Sue Anderson.
Jim was born on September 19, 1956 in Cedar Rapids to William and Anna Berge Anderson. Jim graduated from Washington High School in 1975 in Cedar Rapids. He received a B.A. degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN in 1981 and also attained a second B.A. degree from Coe College in 1983 in Cedar Rapids where he taught computer software courses. Jim was employed by Rockwell Collins for 22 years. His most recent position was Senior Software Engineer. He was a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Jim was a big fan of science fiction and related comic books, bicycling, cross country skiing and his dog nephews. His dry wit and sharp sense of humor will be missed by friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Hospice of Mercy.
Jim’s family is appreciative of the support and concern from his friends at Rockwell Collins, Homewatch Caregivers and Hospice of Mercy, both Palliative Care and the Hospice House.
Robert Warren Allen

Robert W. Allen, 81, of Cedar Rapids died Monday, June 22, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 1 P.M. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Jonathan Offt. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Burial: 1 P.M. Friday at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery with military honors, Lincoln, NE.
Robert is survived by his wife Faye; four children, Rebecca Allen of Kearney, NE, Michael Allen, Penelope Allen, and Pamela Allen, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Glen Allen and Heidi (fiancé Jamie) Allen,; great grandchildren, Austin and Trenton Smith; and step grandchildren Rob Martin, and Jim (Stacy) Martin; sisters-in-law, Beverly Allen of Vista, CA, Treva (Dave) Lehn and Cheryl Ansbach, both of Kearney, NE., and Naomi Brown of Fallon, NV.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; an identical twin brother Richard; brothers-in-law, Wayne Brown and Terry Ansbach; and foster sister, Hilde Caserio.
Robert was born June 13, 1928 in Otoe, NE to Everett and Velva Paap Allen. He married
Faye Brown on May 9, 1954 in Riverdale, NE. Robert attended Northeast High School in Lincoln, NE and received a BA degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University and then his Masters degree from Northern Colorado. He taught at Jefferson High School and coached sports there for 36 years. During that time was the Assistant coach for six state titles. Robert was head basketball coach for Kirkwood Community College. He was elected to the Jefferson Hall of Fame and in 1987 was named the Assistant Coach of the Year by the Iowa Football Coaches Association. Robert was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family from 4 to 7 PM on Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Tuesday.
Bernice was the wonderful, remarkable, and loving wife of Fern Anthes for 67 years, mother of Laura (Neal Denny) Dudek of Marion, and Janet (Rick) Evans of Springville, sister of Shirley (Don) McFarland and Jean Urbanek all of Colorado, grandmother of Kristine, Roxanne (Greg), Michelle (Matt), Robert, Robin (Tim), Calvin (Kristin), Curtis (Caiti), and Cassandra (Alan), great-grandmother to eight and a half great grandchildren, and aunt to several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marjorie Nelson, and son James Anthes.
Bernice was born May 4, 1922 in West Plains, Missouri to James and Ella Hyde Clapp. She married
Fern R. Anthes on April 23, 1942 in the First United Methodist Church in Marion. She was a homemaker and together with Fern farmed near Springville for over 40 years moving to Marion in 1985. She was a member of the Viola Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking, and doing word search puzzles,
