Kenneth L. Bartlett, 78 of 3233 Prairie Bend Circle in Marion died Friday April 9, 2010 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He went to be with his mother, father, two brothers, a son and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Services at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday.
Born May 18, 1931, he was the son of Clark Bartlett and Marie Hanson. He was the eldest brother of four boys in the family. Brother to Gordon, Roger and Lawrence. He is survived by his wife, Betty and five children.
Ken graduated from Marion High School in 1949. He joined the Army in 1951, serving his country in the Korean War till being honorably discharged at the end of his duty in 1953. Ken was finally acknowledged with a service medal from the Korean government for his service there. Kenneth met and married Betty Lou Deaton while stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and returned to his childhood town in Marion after serving his country. Together they had six children, Donald of Anamosa, a baby boy who was stillborn, Karen of Maryland, David of Marion, Teresa of Cedar Rapids, and Keith of Marion. He was the proud grandfather of Raana, Gina, Amy, Ronnie, and Courtney. Proud great-grandfather of five. He was also uncle and cousin to many and had many dear friends.
He worked two jobs, Rockwell-Collins for 35 year until retiring in 1988 as well as driving school bus for Linn-Mar Community Schools for 32 yeas until he retired in 2002.
He enjoyed “pulling a trailer” or driving an RV with his wife and family on many trips, going to Oshkosh for the world wide fly-in in pursuit of one of his passions, airplanes. He also enjoyed working on cars, “tinkering”. He could always “design/make something for that” or fix anything. He is greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their extraordinary care and to direct all memorial contributions there in lieu of flowers.

Justin W. Doc Albright, 95, of Cottage Grove Place, 2115 First Ave. S.E., died Thursday at his residence following a brief illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Lloyd E. Brockmeyer, St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment: St. Paul's United Methodist Church Columbarium. Friends may greet the family from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his son Carlton and wife Patricia, of New York City; five grandchildren, Sarah of Canton, Massachusetts, Nathanael, Carlton Williams 'Will' and David Mobley, all of New York City and Diana Bates of Santa Monica, California.
His wife Mildred, parents, brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Justin was the oldest of six children, born October 14, 1908, in Lisbon, Iowa, to George and Susan Emily Albright. His mother died when he was age 17 and his father remarried her sister Millie. Justin married Mildred Mahala Carlton on September 12, 1935, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids and spent 65 years together in marital harmony. She died on May 8, 2000.
He was a member of the law firm, Simmons, Perrine, Albright & Ellwood, PLC, where he was one of the founding senior partners in 1938. He attended Coe College for two years, and then received his B.S.C. at the University of Iowa in 1931 and his J.D. in 1933. He was Editor of The Iowa Law Review from 1932-1933. He was also a pole-vaulter on the Iowa Track team, competing for the Hawks at the Drake and Chicago Relays. His highest jump was 13'1' back in the days of the 'bamboo pole.

Leland A. Achenbach, 75, of Anamosa, died Monday, November 22, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Rick Gail of First Assembly of God Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife Nadine, two sons L. James Sandi of Monticello, and Richard Karen of Swisher, a daughter Brenda Bob Scott, grandchildren, Jason Mary Achenbach of Cedar Rapids, Lucas Cheatwood of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ryan Stacey Achenbach of Monticello, Amy Kasey Kadolph of Anamosa, and Devin Achenbach of Cedar Rapids, and Great-grandchildren, Tyler Kadolph, Keegan, Ethan, Stephen, David, and Anna Achenbach. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lois Achenbach, and his stepfather Charles Skriver.
Leland was born June 19, 1929 in West Branch, Iowa, to Alfred and Rose Cihla Achenbach. He married Nadine Duffield on February 10, 1951 in Cedar Rapids. Leland was a farmer, and had worked as a machinist for Energy in Monticello, and Goss in Cedar Rapids. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Swisher American Legion Post No 671.
A memorial fund has been established.

John Edward Amborn

John E. Amborn, 81, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Fort Madison, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 AM Friday at All Saints Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David O'Connor. Private interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison, Visitation: 5 to 8 PM, Thursday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
John is survived by Catherine, his wife of 61 years; three daughters and their husbands, Catherine and Martin Roach of Cedar Rapids, Margaret and Edward Dull of McKinney, Texas, and Nancy and Frank Lochner of Marion; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Shannon, Jeff, Maggie, Abby, Christi, Carrie, Jonathan, Courtney, Sarah and Katie; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jay, Joey, Tommy and Ashton; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Amborn.
He was preceded in death by a beloved son, John Robert; his parents, Morton and Mary; a sister, Bernadine; and two brothers, the Rev. Robert and Richard.
John was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Fort Madison, the son of Morton and Mary Bremhorst Amborn. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1941. Following his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he worked as a machinist apprentice for the Santa Fe Railway of Fort Madison and Chicago. On June 29 1943, he married his high school sweetheart, Catherine Gockel.
From 1949 until 1972, John was a professional photographer. He owned and operated his own studio, served as president of the Professional Photographers of Iowa, and presented programs on photography throughout the Midwest. In 1961, he earned his Master of Photography degree from the Professional Photographers of America. His work is part of the Permanent Loan Collection of the Professional Photographers of America.
Additionally, two of his prints were selected for exhibition at the Kodak Pavilion of the 1964 New York World's Fair.
He was an active participant in civic organizations in Fort Madison, which included serving as a member of the Fort Madison Industrial Development Corporation and the Commercial Development Corporation; as a board member of the Fort Madison Community Hospital, the Community Concert Association, and the Country Club; and as president of the Fort Madison Rotary.
In 1959, John was honored as Fort Madison's Most Exemplary Father.
From 1972 until 1981, he was a real estate broker with Amborn & Feightner Realtors in Fort Madison. He was also co-owner of Gaslight Alley Gifts in Fort Madison from 1969 to 1984 and in Cedar Rapids from 1981 to 1994.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Church, Hospice of Mercy, Mercy Medical Center or Alzheimer's Association.
Delores E. Akers

Delores E. "Dory" Akers. 79, of 150 South Ave. in Central City died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Wed. and at the Chapel after 10 AM on Thursday.
Survivors include her husband, Eldon, a daughter Barb Ted Steele of Marion, two sons, Al Pam of Fairfax and Steve Julie of Cedar Rapids, seven brothers, Bernard, Frank, Donald, Wellington, Gerald, Dennis and Larry Ziebarth and two sisters, Joyce and Mary Mattson all of Minnesota, nine grandchildren, Michele Bolton, Matt Hemminger, Brent Mindy Steele, Benjamin and Skyler Akers, Kyle Lisa Steele, Isaiah Amy Akers, Mason Terra Akers, and Austin Autumn Akers, and nine great grandchildren, Chase and Chandler Bolton, Merrick and McKenna Hemminger, Brenan, Kaleb and Annabelle Steele, Teegin Akers and Tristan Ohrt-Stagg. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kenneth and two sisters, Joan and Annabelle.
Dory was born on Sept. 23, 1925 in Spencer Brook, MN., the daughter of Frank and Alice Petersen Ziebarth. She married Eldon R. Akers on Dec. 12, 1945 in Cambridge, MN. Dory was a homemaker and worked for five years at Rockwell-Collins. She was a member of the Meadow View Country Club in Central City. Dory was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends. A memorial fund has been established in Dory's name.

Barbara Butterfield Atherton

Barbara Butterfield Atherton, 77, of Mercer, Wisconsin, died Monday, September 5, 2005, in the AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, following a long illness. President William McPherson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, September 17, in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband James, two daughters Diane Lynn Manglani Roger of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Cynthia Gail Fortmann Donald of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and two sons Douglas James Atherton of ElCajon, California, and David Bruce Atherton Laura of Alburnett, Iowa. Seven grandchildren, Brian Fortmann, Christopher Fortmann, Erica Manglani, Jessica Atherton, Kristen Atherton, Karthar Galanti, and Scott Atherton.
Barbara was born January 31, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur Edward and Kathryn Margaret Hart Butterfield. She graduated from Iowa State with a B.S. in Psychology, and a Minor in Math in June of 1950. She married James L. Atherton on September 2, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was an accomplished Violinist and was a member of the Cedar Rapids all city orchestra, Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra, a guest violinist with the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra, the Iowa State University Symphony Orchestra, and the Jacksonville, Illinois Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of the honorary Music Fraternity at Iowa State. She also played with a string quartet appearing at nursing homes, churches, etc. She was a member of the Honorary Academic Fraternity at Iowa State, Alpha Gamma Delta-Social Sorority, Girl Scout Leader, School Nurse, and Homeroom mother. She was on the building committee for the Oconomowoc YMCA. She loved to play tennis, bowl, fish, play bridge, and a avid reader. She was an avid Minneapolis Lakers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Green Bay Packer Fan. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Woodland Hills, CA Ward and the Ashland, Wisconsin Branch. She enjoyed watching wildlife, camping, domestic and foreign travel, and did lots of sewing and knitting. She had lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ames, Iowa, Northfield, Minnesota, Sherebrooke, Quebec, Canada, Nampa, Idaho, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Hillsboro, Wisconsin, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Jacksonville, Illinois, West Hills, California, and Mercer Wisconsin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Branch Missionary Fund or to the American Cancer Society.

Coletta F. Boeding, 77, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a brief illness.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday, March 19th at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home with a rosary at 4 pm and a vigil service at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 20, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Winthrop with Rev. Donald Plamondon officiating. Visitation will be held an hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Winthrop.
Survivors include her children, Gregory (Laura) Boeding of Tipton, Vincent (Maria) Boeding of Anaheim, CA, Nancy (Ron) Harris of Middleboro, MA, Carl (Diane) Boeding of Colorado Springs, CO, Theresa (Tim) Meyers of Center Point, Linda (Paul) Keener of Las Vegas, NV, James (Shannon) Boeding of Cedar Rapids; 2 Brothers, John (Margaret Ann) Hogan of Winthrop and Marky (Nadine) Hogan of Independence, IA. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Coletta Florence Hogan was born January 30, 1933 in Independence, IA the daughter of Mark and Florence (Gallery) Hogan. She worked at Farmstead Foods until their closing and she also enjoyed working and socializing at the Cedar Rapids Kernels games.
Memorials may be given in her name to St. Luke’s Hospice.
