Harold R. "Happy" Bright, 90, of 1815 Ellis Blvd. NW, died after a full, long, loving life, Tuesday, October 24, 2006 surrounded by his family. Private family services will be held. Burial: Fairfax Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:30 to 3:30 Friday at Turner West Funeral Home.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Larraine; two sons, Gary Nancy Bright of Mt. Vernon, and Jack Bright of San Antonio, TX; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Happy was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sharon Kelly and a step-grandson, Rick.
Happy was born June 26, 1916 in Iowa City to William M. and Sarah Ruppert Bright Jr. He married
Larraine T. Apran in Cedar Rapids on April 26, 1963. Happy was a musician for over 50 years, playing at the Ranch Supper Club, Ced-Rel Supper Club, and the Roosevelt Hotel. He owned Happy Brights TV Service for years, retiring in 1981. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Happy belonged to the Musician's Union, Collins Electrical Union, and El Kahir Shrine.
Happy loved to play cribbage, go houseboating on the Cedar River, camping, and traveling in their motorhome. He was a most loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

Verna E. Dawson, 96, a resident of the Keystone Care Center in Keystone, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died there Wednesday, August 20, 2008, following a short illness. Services will be held at 9 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 PM Friday and at the chapel after 8:30 AM on Saturday. Surviving are nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers Richard and William Jahnke. Verna was born April 21, 1912 in Luzerne, Iowa to Henry and Rosa Wehrman Jahnke. She married
Kenneth R. Dawson on September 19, 1936 in Luzerne. Kenneth died June 19, 1993. Verna was a draftsman for Collins Radio for 18 years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, and a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. She had been a volunteer at the flower stall at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She loved gardening, cats, eating out, traveling, her dog Jake, and spending time with family and friends. Lola I. Bogue, 82, of 214 Cynthia Street SW, Cedar Rapids, died at Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, after a sudden illness. Friends may call today 10/26/2006 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Turner West Funeral Home. Graveside Services: 11 AM Friday at Sheridan Cemetery south of Tama by the Rev. Virgil Scott.
Survivors include a niece, Linda Bill Jakubowsky of Cedar Rapids; 6 nephews, Vernon Haynes of Cape Coral, FL, James Cherie Haynes of Tama, and Don, Paul, Robert, and Roger Mayo; a special great niece, Debbie Goble of Houston, TX; and many other great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her loving companion, Howard Cross; 3 brothers, Leonard, Kenneth and Virgil Haynes; 4 sisters, Doris, Delores, and Ethel Haynes, and Bernice Haynes Mayo; a nephew, Gerald Haynes; and a niece, Delores Mayo Weaver.
Lola was born February 2, 1924 in Tama County to Ellis and Rose Meyer Haynes. She graduated from Tama High School in 1941. Lola married
Robert D. Bogue in September of 1944. He died in 1979. She worked for Square D Company for over 27 years, retiring in 1983. Lola was a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and traveling in her earlier years. She enjoyed watching sports and loved her pets, especially Sissy, her cat. She and Howard wintered in Bullhead City, AZ for over 9 years and lived in Wapello for several years.
The family wishes to thank her dear neighbors and friends, Jim and Shirley Stoner and Odis Fossum for the love and care they gave as well as the entire staff at Comfort Care.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Linn County Humane Society.

Margaret L. Baker, 95, of Marion died October 29, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Private Family Services will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters Phyllis Stoddard of Cedar Rapids and Betty Donaldson and husband Jerry of Marion; five grandchildren Mary Schroeder of Coralville, Dave Stoddard of Cedar Rapids, Denny Stoddard and wife Crystal Cavanaugh of Marion, Brad Donaldson and wife Jill of Downers Grove, IL, and KristaKay Mailhiot and husband Jeff of Bolingbrook, IL; great-grandchildren Nathaniel Schroeder, Melody Mendez and husband Harold, Amy Schroeder, Adam Dowd and wife Miriam, Connor Stoddard, Lexi, Courtney, and Griffin Mailhiot, Sierra and Spencer Donaldson; and great great grandchildren Jackson and Miriam Mendez.
She was preceded in death by her husband Otho, in 1990, as well as her parents, five siblings, and a grandson Brent Donaldson.
Margaret L. Baker was born May 7, 1911 in Waterloo the beloved daughter of Frank and Lula Coonley O' Farrell. She was married
to Otho Baker of November 28, 1928 in Morrison, IL. She was an active volunteer at Garfield School and for the Camp Fire Girls, and Camp Hitaga. She served on the board for many of these organizations. She was a talented seamstress and accomplished craft person in all areas.
She was proud of her O'Farrell heritage and taught her family to show their pride. She was a devoted and active grandma and her family was most important to her. She taught all of her family members to be better people and her Irish spark and fight will continue to be a part of her family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mercy in Margaret's honor.
Gladys Mae Bradley

Gladys Mae Bradley, 84, of Troy Mills, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died May 4, 2007 in her home following a short illness. Memorial Services 11 AM Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Rev. Phil Jorgenson will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements and Cremation Entrusted to Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include son Ronald L. Null of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Robert Dawn Null of Cedar Rapids, Tamara James Siefken of Troy Mills, Teresa Bradley and husband Derek of Wagner, OK, Lisa Casaus of Wagner, OK, and companion Ed Tesar of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are her 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Larry Bradley, grand daughter Sherri Null, and husband Alfred Bradley in 1991.
Gladys Mae Bradley was born March 28, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the beloved daughter of Wesley and Mabel Taylor Stanek. She was united in marriage to Alfred W. Bradley in July 5, 1946 in Maquoketa. She was employed for several years at Penick and Ford in the Syrup Department. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Penick and Ford Retirees, and enjoyed attending the Lisbon Dance Hall. Gladys greatly enjoyed camping, cards, and most of all being with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend of many and will be greatly missed by all.

Virginia F. Dyson, 92, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008, following a long illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 AM Saturday in St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Klein officiating. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday with a Vigil service beginning at 7 PM.
Surviving to honor her memory are two daughters, Roxanne Fred Lenway of Camarillo, California, and Barbara Dale Hahn of Hiawatha, five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Margaret Montross, and Ann Hughes, a brother James, and great granddaughter Megan Hahn.
Virginia was born September 12, 1915, in Cedar Rapids to Patrick and Frances Lastuvka Hollingsworth. She married
Paul A. Dyson on November 20, 1937. Paul died April 1, 1983. Virginia was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
