Cynthia Yvonne Blakey, 57, of 4460 Westchester Drive NE, died at Mercy Medical Center, Wednesday, July 2, 2008, after a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Richard Reed. Inurnment: Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.
Survivors include her father, Amity Blakey of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Joyce Blakey of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Amity Blakey III of Cedar Rapids; her fiancé, Robert Holecek of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Cleveland Smith and Teara Donald; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Blakey, and her daughter, Dottie Cole.
Cynthia was born on August 27, 1950 in Cedar Rapids to Amity and Dorothy Blakey Jr. She was an assistant producer for WMT - TV art department for many years. She attended Kirkwood Community College for two semesters, taking art classes. She loved painting and drawing and was a ceramic designer. She had a great personality and would help anyone in need. Cynthia loved animals.

Ann Bastian's dear friends and family will celebrate her life at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories at 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 13. Friends may call at the chapel after 3 PM on Sunday. The Chapel is located at 4200 First Avenue NE in Cedar Rapids. Contributions in Ann's name can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church to help them recover from flood damage and to serve the entire community. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Ann was born in Cedar Rapids on July 22, 1919, to Emily Fletcher Winslow and Edward Francis Winslow. With her sister Mary, she was raised at the corner of Forest and Linden Drives. She was educated in the Cedar Rapids schools, St. Mary's School in Faribault, MN, Westlake School near Los Angeles, the University of Iowa, and Coe College. Except for a few years during WWII, she lived her whole life within a few blocks of her birth. Her husband, Ken, passed away in 1985, and son Kenneth Jr., died in 1998.
Ann was an extraordinary woman. She was president of the Cedar Rapids Junior League, the first female board member of St. Luke's Hospital, active supporter of the Cedar Rapids Art Museum, member of Ladies Literary Society, member of the Cedar Rapids Country Club, avid golfer and bridge player. She was selected as Mother of the Year by the University of Iowa in 1965. Ann was an accomplished artist and her paintings adorn the walls of homes and institutions throughout the region. She traveled widely throughout the United States and Europe.
Ann was known by her friends as having a sharp intellect, wonderful sense of humor, constant optimism, unbounded curiosity, loyalty to friends, love of the symphony, theater, and the art museum. She was an active participant in activities to benefit the whole community.
Ann inspired her children, Ken, Marianne, and Ed with the commitment to help others, engage in their communities, to live life to the fullest with passion and unbounded confidence in their ability to achieve their hearts' desires. She is survived by her daughter Marianne of Cedar Rapids, son Ed of Santa Barbara, California, grandchildren Alexandra of Los Angeles and Jonathan of Aspen, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
The following remembrance was composed by Ed on the morning of Ann's passing:
"This morning at 6:45 AM Marianne and I were blessed to be with mother as she breathed her final breath and exhaled with a gentle sense of relief. She was at peace after many challenges over the past few years.
She has been such an extraordinary woman, mother, friend, and leader whose intelligence, humor, and example have profoundly inspired us all. Like you, I am filled with infinite gratitude for her presence in my life. She brought us into existence and raised us with love, tenderness, firmness, and wisdom."

Richard Lee Bierbaum, 72, of 1837 Blake Blvd SE, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, on Thursday, July 17, 2008 after a short illness. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Graveside Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Iowa.
Survivors include his children, John Autumn Bierbaum of Cedar Rapids. Greg Sonya Woodhouse and Susan Steve Halsor, all of Albuquerque, NM, and Stacy Ron West of San Diego, CA; brother, Walter Bierbaum of Mason City; and sister, Mary Hanson of Vermillion, SD. Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
Dick was born on November 6, 1935 in Rockford, Iowa to Lee and Irene Bierbaum. Dick married
Joanne Woodhouse in 1968. He worked in customer service for Pennick and Ford for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. Dick was known for his great sense of humor and unlimited patience. He loved cars, driving, photography, animals, and music; especially jazz.

George E. Davison, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday August 17, 2011 at Northbrook Manor Care Center following an extended illness. Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5PM to 7 PM on Friday.
Survivors include his wife, of 62 years, Zona Kathryn Davison of Marion, Iowa; 2 sons George E. (Linda) Davison Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Steven L. (Teresa) Davison, of Cameron, North Carolina; two brothers Jon L. Davison and Joel D. Davison; two sisters LaJune Singer and Marilyn V. Armstrong; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by a grandson Jeremiah Davison, and two sisters Marjorie A. Welsh and Lois G. Vandenberg.
George was born on December 14, 1927 in Mercer County, Illinois, the son of Edward and Mildred (Beverlin) Davison. He married
Zona Kathryn Munson on August 14, 1949 in Joy, Illinois. George worked 25 plus years for Coonrod Wrecker and Crane Service as a Crane Operator Engineer. He enjoyed gardening, planting, and spending time with his family. George was known as the “giggler” due to his funny sense of humor and always making friends and family laugh. His smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

David A. Brown, 74, of 2663 Fruitland Blvd SW, died Saturday July 26, 2008 in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services: 11:00 AM Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
Survivors include his children, Paige Brown of Cedar Rapids, Scott Brown of Spokane, Washington, a sister, Karen Morgan of Sigourney, 8 grandchildren including Jacob Brown who was raised as a son, 10 great grandchildren and one on the way, a brother in law, Wally Fanton, his special friends, "Happy Jack", who delivered his Meals on Wheels, his neighbors, John and Marilee and Todd and Sherry and his friends from Penick & Ford and Farmland Foods.
His parents and a sister, Rose Fanton, and brother in law, Russell Brehm preceded him in death.
Dave was born February 17, 1934 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Vernon and Ruth Hansen Brown. He married
Betty Jaycox in Cedar Rapids on May 19, 1960. They later divorced and remained friends. Dave was employed Penick & Ford as a millwright and worked for Farmland foods. He served in the Navy during the Korean War, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and Japanese Island. Dave was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and American Federation of Grain Millers. He loved keeping up on the world news and political events. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dave was the kind of person who helped all and would give them the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was a great contributor on a regular basis to charities supporting women and children, especially United Way and Way Point. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Stephanie and Doug at Homewatch Health Care for loving care they gave Dave.

Minnie F. Barnard, 90, of 2351 – 29th Street SW, died at Promise House, Hiawatha, on Friday, September 12, 2008, after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by Chaplain Jeremy Hudson of St. Luke's Hospice. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Chapel. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Robert Judy Barnard of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband Walter and a daughter Norma Jean Rowe.
Minnie was born on November 8, 1917 in Putnam, Ok to Henry and Bertha Schoonmaker. She married
Walter Barnard on January 27, 1936 in Tipton. He died in 1994. She worked in food service for the Cedar Rapids School System, retiring as food service manager at Truman Elementary School. Minnie and Walter loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida. She loved to crochet.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen I and Promise House for the loving care given to Minnie.
