Edythe E. Borgers, 93, of 130 Thompson Drive SE Cedar Rapids died Friday February 20, 2009 at Mercy Hallmar after a brief illness. Per Edythe’s request there will be no visitation or memorial service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
Edythe is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Fred.
Survivors include her daughter Diane Wagner and son-in-law Michael of Marion and a grand daughter Darcie Rehmel of Boulder, CO
Edythe was born February 15, 1916 in London Ontario, Canada to James and Vera Wakeling. She married
Frederick P. Borgers in Detroit, MI. She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and wishes them luck in the future.

Elaine A Butters
Born in Cherokee, Iowa on March 30, 1920
Departed on February 23, 2009. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Elaine A. Butters, 88, of 920 7th Street SE, died February 23, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital following an extended illness. Per Elaine’s request no services will be held. Private Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter Joanne Claypool of Marion; granddaughter Dianne (Perry) Cook of Waukee, IA and her 3 children; grandson Gary (Dorothy) Claypool of Columbia, MO and their 5 children and 9 grandchildren; brother Sam (Edith) Travagiakis of Cedar Rapids; sisters Irene Minor of Marion, Florence Anderson of Oklahoma, and Victoria Nestas of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stan, brother Tony (Rose) Travagiakis, two grandchildren, and several extended family members.
Elaine A. Butters was born March 30, 1920 in Cherokee, Iowa the daughter of James and Edna Mae (Hill) Travagiakis. She married
Stanley D. Butters on April 5, 1938 in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was employed for several years at Collins Radio, while also assisting her husband’s business, Butter’s Construction. Elaine, with Stan, enjoyed bowling in several leagues, activities at the VFW, traveling to Arizona, and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed all types of wild life, mushroom hunting, reading about history and archeology, knitting and crocheting, and many television shows. Above all, her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many that assisted Elaine, especially her close friends Hod and Maryann Gates of Springville, close brother-in-law Rudy Butters of California, and sister-in-law Gerry (Harold) Lanning of Toddville.
Donations may be made to the memorial fund established in Elaine’s honor.
Walter J. Behrens

Walter J. Behrens, 85, of Mt. Vernon, died at Hallmark Care Center, on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, after a long illness. Graveside Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. William Wordhof of Echo Hill Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are with Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Walt was born February 15, 1924 in rural Newhall, the son of Claus and Anna Behrens. In 1950 he married
into the family of Katherine Wells and her daughters, Virginia Wells Bowers and Carolyn Herdegen. Katherine died in 1982. Walt’s surviving step-grandchildren are Julie, Robert, and Jim Bowers, children of Virginia Wells Bowers, and Joy Dziech, daughter of Carolyn Herdegen. He then married
into the family of Maxine Rutherford and her children, Lynn (Linda) Rutherford and Cheryl (Arlen) Russell in 1983. Maxine died in 1999. Surviving step-grandchildren are Curtis and Colin Russell. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Carl Ritscher; sisters-in-law, Dottie Behrens and Arlene Titler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two step-daughters, Virginia and Carolyn; five brothers, John, Harry, Louie, Karl, and Elmer Behrens; and two sisters, Mae Ritscher and Pauline Kreutner.
Walt worked most of his life at FMC, retiring in the early 1980’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Echo Hill Presbyterian Church or Hallmark Care Center.
The family is forever grateful to the staff of Hallmark Care Center for their constant dedication and loving care.
Nancy Sue Day

Nancy Sue Thompson Aronson Day, 65, of Norway, Iowa, and formerly of Marion, died Wednesday at University Hospitals in Iowa City following complications from pulmonary disease. A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. today at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home by Revs. Steve and Cheri Whisler, Norway United Methodist Church and Joyce Fehlhaver, a Christian Science Reader. Cremation was held and inurnment will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Cedar Memorial Family Center and Library.
Survivors include husband Burtwin of Norway; two daughters, Heather Aronson Schatten Dr. Gerald Schatten of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Jacqueline Sue Aaronson-Glaab Travis Glaab of Tucson, Arizona; a son John M. Aronson Jamie of Town and Country, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Madeline and Samantha Schatten; Tennyson and William Aaronson-Glaab; and Gabriella and Ethan Aronson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Thomas Bradley Aronson, and brothers John and Charles Thompson.
Nancy was born October 19, 1936 in Des Moines to John and Florence George Thompson and was married
to Burtwin Day on August 1, 1987 in Iowa City. She had been the Controller with Central Iowa Power Cooperative prior to her retirement in 2000.
One of the first female National Merit Scholars, Nancy received a BS from Iowa State University and an MBA from the University of Vermont before pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Iowa, where she taught in the Department of Accounting. She had been an Assistant Professor at Mt. Mercy College and Adjunct Professor at Kirkwood Community College, as well as an Instructor at the University of Vermont and at Trinity and Concord Colleges. She was a member of the American Accounting Association and the American Woman's Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Roberta Mae Bolt

Roberta Mae (Bosier) Bolt, 53, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2009, at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 AM Monday in Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Clark-Bridges officiating. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 PM Sunday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband Benjamin, a son Jesse (Janice) Jones, and their two children Hailey and Ian of Sarasota, Florida, three sisters Connie (Merv) Chandler, Darlene Shreeves, and Becky (Dave) McVay all of Cedar Rapids, four brothers David Bosier of Cedar Rapids, Darrell (Pam Bueoy) Bosier of Center Point, Dwight Bosier of Sarasota, and Darwin (Michelle) Bosier of Johnstown, Pa., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Roberta was born August 15, 1955 in Cedar Rapids to Robert and Edna Monserud Bosier. She married
Benjamin Bolt on April 28, 2001 in Sarasota, Florida. She was a workman’s comp adjuster for Johns Eastern Insurance Company, and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sarasota.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Ann Buroker

Ann Buroker, 71, of 3608 Terrace Hill Dr. NE died Monday March 9, 2009 at her home of cancer. Services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Rev. Harlan Gillespie and Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Inurnment will be at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church columbarium. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include her husband, Gayle, a daughter, Beth (David) Bock of Lenexa, Kansas and two sons, Garret of Cedar Rapids and Jay (Deb) of Omaha, Nebraska and one brother, Jack (Jean) Oberholtzer of Huntington, Indiana. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lauren and Cameron Bock and Ella and Nathan Buroker. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ann was born on Dec. 8. 1937 in Richmond, Indiana the daughter of Obie and Ruth Oberholtzer. She graduated from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana with an R.N. degree. She married
Gayle E. Buroker on April 25, 1959 in Richmond, Indiana. Ann was a homemaker and the church librarian at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for 21 years, retiring in 2001. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s where she was active on many committees such as Missions and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed playing bridge, crafts, antiques, traveling, bicycling and especially time spent with her friends and beloved family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or the Hospice of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Iowa Blood and Cancer Care, Hospice of Mercy, her P.E.O. sisters and many friends for their love and support.
