Don A. Cook, 65, of 501 2nd Ave. Coggon, died Wed. March 6, 2002 at his home of cancer. Memorial services at 1 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where friends may call after Noon on Friday. Rev. Ron Lewis will officiate. There will be a time of fellowship at the Coggon Legion Hall from 4 to 8 PM on Friday. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Barb, a son, Chris and his wife, Julie, two daughters, Dawn Dvorak and husband, Rod, all of Walker and Jenny Michael and her husband, Daryl of Newton, and a sister, Vonda Anderson of Delhi. Also survived by ten grandchildren, Tanner and Mason Cook, David, Daniel and Nicholas Michael, Emily Cook, Rachel Richardson, Nolan, Chase and Josey Dvorak, a daughter in law, Diane Cook Richardson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robb.
Don was born on March 25, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ralph and Irma Long Cook. Don graduated from High School in Alburnett and married Barbara A. Boddicker there on June 9, 1957. Don owned and operated Cook's Barber Shop in Coggon for 44 years. He was a member of Meadowview Country Club in Central City, Coggon Lions Club, North Linn Fish and Game and the Coggon Fire Dept. Don truly loved his work, he enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and many friends. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Don's name.

Richard E Cayler
Born in Dolliver, Iowa on July 21, 1920
Departed on March 12, 2002. Resided in Marion, IA.

Richard E. Cayler, 81, of 1050 24th Street, Marion, passed away at his home of 48 years on Tuesday, March 12, 2002, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was brought home to be cared for by his loving family until his death. Services with Marion Police and Fire Honor Guard will be at 11 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Steve Hindman chaplain of St. Luke's Hospice will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Saturday.
Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Nielsen; his two sons, Timothy of Denver, Colorado, and GaylenRuby of Littleton, Colorado; two sisters, Janet Gayle Boyer and Joan Donald Bahm, both of Marion; a brother, Jim Ann Cayler of Topeka, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Lori, Traci, Mike, Trent, Josh, Jessica, Marijane, Andrea, and Josephine, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gaylen, and a son Richard Cayler Jr.
Richard was born in Dolliver, Iowa on July 21, 1920 to Clifford and Ferne Cayler. He was a US Army World War II veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient. During his lifetime Richard was the Chief of the Marion Fire Department as well as the Chief of Marion Police Department. In his 'retirement' years, Richard worked at Katz Salvage/Marion Iron. He was an athlete who competed in basketball and softball as well as being an avid golfer. He was also a member of the Iowa Chief of Police Association, and the Marion American Legion Post No 298.
Memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Luke's Hospital.
Richard was a wonderful storyteller, we all enjoyed his tales of his life's experiences.
Richard was a loving, kind and wise man who loved life and lived it to its fullest. All who have loved him and have been loved by him will miss him greatly.

Anna E. Drahovzal

Anna E. Drahovzal, 93, widow of John B. Drahovzal, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at her residence in Lexington, KY. Born in Cedar Rapids, IA, on December 30, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Kucera. She graduated from Washington High School in 1934 and worked as a bank teller before marrying. Later she was employed for many years as a bookkeeper in her husband’s automotive machinist business. She moved to Kentucky in 2005 after living for 90 years in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Lexington, a former member of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, and a member of the Gideon Auxiliary. She loved reading, baking and travel. Survivors are a son, Jim and his wife Becky Drahovzal of Lexington; three grandchildren, Rob and his wife Shelley Drahovzal, Grand Forks, ND, Elizabeth Drahovzal, Clarksville, TN, and Sarah Drahovzal, Old Town, ME; great-grandchildren Alecia, Ashley, and Eric of Grand Forks, Ethan and Elias of Clarksville; and a great-great granddaughter, Kylee of Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by a brother, Woody, and a sister Ruth. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church or Gideons International.

Nelda M. Cypra
Born in Urbana on April 19, 1922
Departed on June 9, 2002. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Nelda M. Cypra, 80, of 950 Kerry Lane S.E., died Sunday at her residence following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Howard B. Chapman, First Presbyterian Church, Marion, officiating. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and at the Chapel of Memories after 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Surviving besides her husband, is a brother, N. Earl Barber and wife Virginia, 3 nieces, Linda Osmundson, Eileen Goodwin and Carolyn Fowler, a nephew, Bruce Barber, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Eleanor Roby and a brother, Marlin Barber.

Nelda was born on April 19, 1922 in Urbana, Iowa to George and Olive Epley Barber and was married to Earl H. Cypra on July 18, 1965 in Marion.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Marion and the Marion Women's Club.

Friends may, if they wish, make memorial contributions to Hospice of Mercy in memory of Nelda or to the family.

Edgar ''Dean'' Clark

Edgar 'Dean' Clark, 67, of Bulverde, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, September 7, 2002, in Specialty Hospital in Austin, Texas, following a long illness. Services at 3 PM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Julia Poulsen of the New Creation United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Saturday.
Survivors include a son Bradley Dean Clark, a daughter Cynthia Sue Clark, his father Marshall 'Ed' Clark, and a sister Pat Drumbarger all of Cedar Rapids, nieces and nephews, a loving and devoted friend Ladell Paff and family of Texas, and his two puppies Sammy and Peaches.
He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie, and a son Steven Douglas Clark.
Dean was born November 30, 1934 in Cedar Rapids to Marshall and Marjorie Black Clark. He worked as a bookbinder for Russell's Guides Publishing Company in Cedar Rapids for over 20 years retiring in 1989. He served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed camping, being outdoors, stock car racing, and all kinds of sports.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Valley Humane Society.

Jonathan ''Toby'' Tobin Carr
Born in Cedar Rapids on September 20, 1975
Departed on October 25, 2002. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Jonathan 'Toby' Tobin Carr, 27, of 2459 9th Ave SW, died Friday, October 25, 2002. Services will be at 3 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Nick Longworth officiating. Friends may register at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Tuesday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his mother and father Linda and Louis Carr, a brother, Louis Carr, IV, grandmother, Thelma Goettsch, two aunts Kathy Goettsch and Becky Huber, and an uncle Robin Goettsch, and three cousins Katie, Ellen, and Neil Goettsch all of Cedar Rapids. Toby was preceded in death by his grandfather Lambert Goettsch.
Toby was born September 20, 1975 in Cedar Rapids to Louis and Linda Goettsch Carr. Toby had worked as a cook for Long John Silvers, in assembly at CCB Packaging, and was a member of Carpenters Union Local 308.
Toby was a great entertainer who loved his friends and enjoyed the outdoors and animals. He was known for his artistic skills and his willingness to give of himself to help others.
Toby was charming and endeared himself to many and was very considerate of everybody's feelings.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Valley Humane Society, Boy Scouts of America, or the Indian Creek Nature Center.

Rev. Gaylon L. Decious
Born in Linn County, Iowa on May 2, 1931
Departed on April 7, 2012. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Rev. Gaylon L. Decious, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, in his son’s home surrounded by his family. Services: 4 p.m. Tuesday at Marion Christian Church, by the Rev. Peter Mitchell. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will be at the Coggon Cemetery at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis B. Decious; his son, Gaylon M. and wife Becky L. Decious, and grandson, Christian L. Decious, of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Allen Decious; and sisters, Beverly Hopson and Karen Buhmann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, June Murray.

Gaylon was born May 2, 1931, in Linn County, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Marjorie (Merritt) Decious. He married Phyllis Halstead on Oct. 24, 1958, in Coggon. As a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) he helped many as he served the Lord. He was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1967 at Marion Christian Church (his home church). He served as pastor in churches beginning with Gravette, Ark., in 1960, Prairie City, Iowa in 1961, Moulton and Udell, Iowa in 1962, Colfax, Iowa in 1967, then at Hope, Ark., (where he also served the regional church) in 1971, Maxwell-Collins, Iowa in 1975, Laurens, Iowa in 1980, Exira, Iowa in 1990, and retiring in Cedar Rapids in 1992.

The Rev. Gaylon was a wood carver bringing joy to many and was known as the “Penny Guy” at Lindale Mall, giving countless pennies for kids to throw in the fountain.

He will be greatly missed by his family and church friends.

Memorials may be made to Marion Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
