Delores B. Cypra, 87, of Manor Care, made her final trip to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, April 6, 2006, after a long illness. Services: 9 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel.

Survivors include her brother, Ralph and his wife, Eve Carringer of Edmond, OK, and a special cousin Sally Eggleston of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Anderson, a daughter Sandra Franks, and second husband Robert Cypra.

Delores was born October 16, 1918 in Cedar Rapids to Clinton and Bernice Rooks Carringer. She married Robert Cypra there on March 21, 1970. She was employed at Quaker Oats for over 35 years, retiring in 1982.

Joan L. Coughlin
Born on August 13, 1930

Joan L. Coughlin, 75, 818 19th Street SE died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. There will be no service.
Survivors include two daughters, June Detwiler Don of Cedar Rapids and Janet Stowe Andrew of Edmond, OK; a son, Ransom Coughlin Nancy of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren, Candi Cline, Joni Hoskins, Johanna Stowe, Sgt. Michael Stowe, Fredrick Stowe, Michelle Martin, Joel Coughlin, Andrea Coughlin, Justin Coughlin, Joy-Lee Stowe, and Ann-Marie Stowe; seven great grandchildren, Colton Lane, Gage Lane, Bailey Lane, Sydney Lane, Noah Hoskins, Kaleb Hoskins, and Samantha Hoskins; two brothers, Wayne Northway Lois of Manly and Aven Northway Corky of Denver, CO; and a sister, Grace Tyner Joe of Sarasota, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis, and a brother Lowell Northway.
Joan was born August 13, 1930 in Manly the daughter of Liam and Gertrude Northway. She married Louis Coughlin in September of 1953 in Iowa City. Joan was a community health nurse for the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City for 42 years, retiring in 1997. Joan received her bachelors degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, her masters degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, and her nursing degree from Rochester, MN.

Dolly Rae Draker

Dolly Rae Draker, 76, 735 Winterberry Place NE died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at her home following a long illness. Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Klein will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday from 6PM to 8PM. A Rosary Service will be held at 5:30 PM.
Surviving are three daughters, Janet Widener Ken of Cedar Rapids, Jolene Kacere of West Des Moines, and Jackie Bailey Mike of Cedar Rapids; a son, David Draker Julie of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Max Hubbard Janet, Brooke Kacere, Abby Reid Ryan, Allison Kacere, Cassidy Draker, Rylee Draker, Austin Bailey and Michaela Bailey; a great grandchild, Kalli Hubbard; three sisters, Wilda, Phyllis and Bonnie; three brothers, Richard, Mike and Jerry; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Duane Rinker; her husband Jack Draker; her son-in-law, Chuck Widener; four sisters, Sandy, Elizabeth, Anita and Eileen; and two brothers, Stanley and Hank.
Born November 4, 1931 in Monona, Iowa, Dolly was the daughter of Raymond and Bernice Thompson Waalk. She married Jack Lincoln Draker on July 30, 1955 in Bainbridge, Georgia. Dolly was a hostess at the Cedar Rapids Country Club for 18 years. She was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, and she worked at the church for special meals. She enjoyed family gatherings, loved to bowl, was an avid reader and loved fishing. Dolly was a caring and giving person, and a dear good friend to many.
Dolly's family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy with a special thanks to Jenny, Annette, Mary and Kim. Another special thanks to those who knew and loved her, and helped along the way.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy.

Barbara Elizabeth Campbell
Born in Fairfax, Iowa on June 6, 1926

Barbara Elizabeth Campbell, 79, of 176 Carter Street NW, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Turner West Funeral Home by Rev. Marvin Felty of First Assembly of God Church. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Turner West Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Survivors include five sons, William, Kevin Jody, and Mark Campbell, all of Cedar Rapids, Daren Angie Campbell of Jacksonville, NC, and Tracy Carol Campbell of Stewartsville, MO; two daughters, Marlene Campbell of Solon, and Karla Seeman of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Margaret VanWoert and Marie Pegariek, both of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Angie, Cody, Andrew, Chloe, Brittney, Samantha, and Jaeden; and one great grandchild, Austin.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, a sister, Henrietta Maher, and a brother, George Sommer.

She was born June 6, 1926 in Fairfax to Henry and Marie Krabacher Sommer. She married William Campbell on January 29, 1953 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1994. Barbara was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She loved to crochet and made many baby afghans for the infants at St. Luke's Hospital. She also loved cardinals.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Alva Harm Dirks
Born in Langworthy, Iowa on June 3, 1924
Departed on June 25, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Alva Harm Dirks, 86, of 437 30th Street Dr. Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010, at Northbrook Manor Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. John Keizer of the Springville United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM to service time on Thursday at the Chapel. A luncheon will be served after the service at the Springville American Legion Post No 331.

Survivors include four sons Mark of Springville, Eric (Debbie) of Irrigon, Oregon, Tracy of Milton Free Water, Oregon, and Randy of Battle Creek, Michigan, two step daughters Barbara (Dave) Morris of Bemidji, Minnesota, and Wendy (Dave) Cline of Walker, Minnesota, four grandchildren Aaron and Alysha Dirks, Tana (Vernon) Carlson, and Kori (Ryan) Brown, and a great granddaughter Addison Brown, Alva’s former wife Marilyn Shadix of Irrigon, Oregon, and former daughter in law Danielle Frisch of Springville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, two brothers Edward and Herman, and two sisters Emma and Elizabeth.

Alva was born June 3, 1924 in Langworthy, Iowa to Harm and Katja (Zimmerman) Dirks. He married Jean Shatzer on December 26, 1977, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died January 29, 1991. He was an inspector at Rockwell-Collins retiring in 1983. He was vice commander of Springville American Legion Post No 331. He was cub master and pack leader of Boy Scout troop 57 in Springville, where he mentored many boys to the rank of Eagle Scout. He received the Mechanics Illustrated Gold Hammer Award for one of the many instruments he made. His carvings and instruments may be seen at Wyoming, and Edinburgh, Iowa.

Military honors by Springville American Legion Post No 331.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hawkeye Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, 660 32nd Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404, or to the American Cancer Society, 4080 1st Ave Ne Se 101, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.

Robert E. Carpenter
Born in Indianapolis, IN on February 14, 1924
Departed on June 11, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Robert E. Bob Carpenter, 82, of the West Ridge Care Center, died there Sunday following a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Christ Church Presbyterian with Rev. Lucille King officiating. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Hanford Post # 5.

Surviving are 3 sons, D.J. Carpenter Geri of Cedar Rapids, Dennis Carpenter Rosa of Rancho Cordova, California and Dan Carpenter Kristie of Abilene, Texas, 2 daughters, Nancy McClanahan Gary of Granger, Iowa and Donna Hoffmann Scott of Urbandale, Iowa, brother, Jim Chris Carpenter of Miami, Florida, sisters in law, Roberta Meyer and Gertrude Marsch, both of Dubuque, 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was born on February 14, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harvey and Ethel Martz Berninger and was married to Martha Meyer on August 24, 1947 in Dubuque. She preceded him in death in 1997.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son David and brother George Carpenter and nephew, Gary Marsch.

Bob attended the University of Iowa and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Dubuque. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy where he received a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian where he sang in the church choir and performed in the church bell choir and served on the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band Commission. He had formerly worked for the KPIG radio station in Cedar Rapids and WDBQ radio station in Dubuque, having retired as a long time radio personality with WMT radio for 28 years.

Friends may, if they wish, make donations to Christ Church Presbyterian, 2000 1st Ave. N.W. 52405.

Robert N. Chandlee
Born in Winfield, Iowa on July 13, 1912
Departed on September 27, 2006. Resided in Marion, IA.

Robert N. Chandlee, 94, of 1730 Red Fox Way in Marion, formerly of Wyoming, Iowa died Wed. Sept. 27, 2006 at Willow Gardens after a short illness. Private family memorial services at 1:00 on Sunday at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Fran Griffeth will officiate. Inurnment at the Cedar Memorial Mausoleum Columbarium.
Survivors include his wife, Chris, of 67 years, a daughter, Sandra Tom O'Hara of Marion and a son Terry Sharyn of Kalona. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Steve Jill O'Hara, John Tasha O'Hara, Todd Chandlee, Terilyn Josh Morrison, five great grandchildren and two special nieces, Carol Mike King and Paula Pauly. He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and two brothers-in-law.
Bob was born on July 13, 1912 in Winfield the son of Pearl and Florence Neil Chandlee. He graduated from Olds High School in 1932. He married Lois V. Chrissinger on May 28, 1939 in Iowa City. Bob and Chris owned and operated the Sunset Motel in Wyoming for 46 years, retiring in 2001.
Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of sports, especially the Cubs and Hawks and his caring love for his family. He enjoyed horseback riding and motorcycling. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy or the charity of the donor's choice.
