James C. Cross, 72, of 816 Penn Avenue NW, died at home, Wednesday, September 27, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Will Jackson of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military services. Friends may call at Turner East Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Turner East Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; a daughter, Sandy Dick Shoemaker of Cedar Rapids; a son Steve Cross of Coggon; 2 brothers, Larry Sandy Cross and Karl Joan Cross, all of Cedar Rapids; a half-sister, Serena Crowe of Toddville; a half-brother, Robert Cross of Cedar Rapids; a step-sister, Shirley Wiggins of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Richard Amanda Shoemaker, Scott Shoemaker, Robert Shoemaker, Colton Cross, and Gracie Cross; and 2 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Emily.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marilyn Warner.
Jim was born January 29, 1934 in Vinton to George and Pauline King Cross. He married
Joan Johnston on March 24, 1957 in Mechanicsville. He was a tool maker at Rockwell-Collins for 37 years, retiring in 1990. Jim was a member of the VFW Post #788, the American Legion Post #298, the Elks Lodge #251, the Sunrise Optimist Club where he had been both President and Lt. Governor, the Boy Scouts of America, a Union Steward for the IBEW, and Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #298.

Frank V. Cellura, 85, of 7477 Macon Dr., died Friday, October 6, 2006, at Northbrook Manor Care Center following a long illness. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Fran Griffeth will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter Carol Bachman and husband Randy of Cedar Rapids, two sons Carl Cellura of Pulaski, Pennsylvania, and Bob Cellura and wife Laura of Albemarle, North Carolina, and five grandchildren, Zoe and Rhea Bachman, Christopher Cellura, and Tony and Matthew Cellura. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred, three sisters Carmela, Angie, and Winnie and a brother Jerry.
Frank was born September 4, 1921 in Licata, Italy to Stefano and Fannie Vecchio Cellura. He served in the US Navy during WW II . He worked as an office manager for Republic Steel Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio until his retirement.
Frank enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, woodworking, playing bridge, dogs, and following the stockmarket.

Harold D. Davis, 71, of 1100 W 10th Ave, Marion, died Monday, February 10, 2003, in St. Luke's Hospital following a sudden illness. Services with military honors at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Howard Chapman of First Presbyterian Church in Marion will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife Rose, a daughter Peggy Sue Eichenberger of Marion, a son Thomas A. Davis and wife Genea of Omaha, Nebraska, a brother Clyde Davis of Grinnell, two sisters Phyllis Barnes of De Witt, and Norma Davis of Toledo, Iowa, and five grandchildren, James, Jay, and Steven Eichenberger, and Sean and Kevin Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harold was born March 12, 1931 in Tama, Iowa to John Thomas and Zola Mae Hill Davis. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married
Rose Morehead on July 27, 1957 in Cedar Rapids. He was a machinist at Rockwell-Collins for 38 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion, Marion American Legion Post No 298, Cedar Valley Woodcarvers, and Open Arms. He enjoyed artwork, golfing, and fishing, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan.

Agnes E. Caldwell, 86, 1506 E Ave NW died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 9:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Friday from 4PM to 8PM with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M. The Rev. Steven Rosonke will officiate.
Survivors include a special friend, Phyl Britcher of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Kenneth Kingsbury of Neillsville, WI; a brother-in-law, Harold Michel of East Moline, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul Daniels, her husband Robert Caldwell, two sisters Marie Michel and Margaret Knight, and two nieces Kathy and Ashlea.
Agnes was born February 1, 1921 in Springdale the daughter of Howard and Katherine McCune Kingsbury. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1938. Agnes married
Irwin Paul Daniels on October 12, 1957 in Maquoketa. He died in 1973. She married
Robert Caldwell on January 15, 1977 in Tipton. He passed away in 1977. Agnes was an office manager at Investors Diversified Services for 35 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. She also was a member of the Altrusa International, Sons of Norway, Circle of Rubies, the Cedar Rapids Women's Club and the Audubon Society.

Mary B. Carl, 82, a resident of the Sheridan Health Care Center in Sheridan, Indiana, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died there Monday, May 28, 2007, following a short illness. Services at 3 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Dr. Herbert Isenberg of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include two sons Allen Carl of Cedar Rapids, and Donald Carl and wife Colleen of Hutchinson, Minnesota, a sister Martha Aaron of Texarkana, Texas, five grandchildren, Moya, Ethan, Christian, Alisha, and Joshua Carl. And a former daughter in law Sue McKinney of Westfield, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Howard Bellieu and a sister Violet Aaron.
Mary was born February 5, 1925 in Texarkana, Texas to Walter and Emma Nall Bellieu. She married
Fred W. Carl on February 14, 1946 in Texarkana, Texas. He died June 24, 1984. She worked with the State of Iowa Liquor Commission for many years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the church circle. She volunteered at the Witwer Senior Center, She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and greatly loved being a parent.

God welcomed Eugene Joseph Dowie, God’s good and faithful servant, to his eternal reward on June 16, 2010. Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 AM, Saturday, June 19, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Rev. Donald Klein will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Friday, July 18, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will take place at 6:30 PM. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
Gene was born to Frank Dennis and Lillian (Traffley) Dowie on March 19, 1931 in Des Moines, IA.
Gene was very athletic; after graduating from Dowling High School in Des Moines, he attended St. Louis University on a football scholarship. He later played semi-professional baseball for several years following his service in the Korean War. Gene was also a graduate of Harvard School of Business.
Gene met the love of his life, Colleen Ruth Edwards at a high school dance. They married
on September 2, 1950 and have shared the dance of life for nearly 60 years.
Gene will be remembered for his passion for people. He was genuinely interested in everyone he met. He was known to say “people turned him on.” This passion greatly aided his successful sales career.
In 1973 Gene purchased Dowie Outdoor Advertising in Cedar Rapids. He was also a partner in KTOF and KMRY radio stations. He served on numerous boards and volunteer committees. Gene was probably most proud of his involvement in the Christian Business Men’s Association where he made many deep friendships.
Gene is survived by his wife Colleen of Cedar Rapids; daughters Debbie Bock of West Des Moines, Vickie Dowie (Steve Norton) of Panora and Cherrie McLane (John) of Anamosa; son Gene Dowie (Alisa Butteris) of Cedar Rapids; brothers Frank (Alyose) of West Des Moines, Larry (Linda) of Monticello, and Fred (Sandra) of Van Meter and his dear sister Denise Brunia of Ames; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Gene, an avid golfer was also greatly blessed by and will be missed by his numerous golf buddies.
The family would like to thank his remarkable caregivers at Iowa Blood & Cancer Clinic, St. Luke’s Hospital, and St. Luke’s Hospice. You are God’s angels on earth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Youth for Christ.

Clayton G. Conrad, 90, of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, died there, Tuesday, May 29, 2007 after a long illness. A visitation will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Private family burial held at Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include 2 sons, Dean Conrad and wife Karen of Cedar Rapids, and Dwight Conrad and wife Barbara of Longmont, CO; 4 grandchildren, Kim Moyston, Kevin Conrad, Kelly Giese, and David Conrad; 6 great grandchildren, Nichole Schuttloffel, Nathan Moyston, Jennifer Vanourney, Tyler Giese, Jessica Giese, and Hannah Conrad; and 3 great-great grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Schuttloffel and Dahlia Cloven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; and a son, Dennis.
Clayton was born September 16, 1916 in State Center. He married
Lois Samson on May 1, 1939 in Washington, Iowa. Clayton owned and operated Clayt's Auto Service in Cedar Rapids for over 35 years. He was an accomplished woodworker, making furniture and grandfather clocks. Clayton obtained his private pilot's license in 1969 and flew for over 20 years.
