Mary Elaine Duffy, 84, of Village Ridge in Marion died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at her home following a long illness. It was Mary's wish to be cremated. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving are three children, John Rocklin Duffy of Scottsdale, AZ, Rand Patrick Duffy of Cedar Rapids and Tracy Lynn Duffy of Des Moines.
Mary was born April 4, 1924 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Otto and Irene Shueth Thoennes. She married
Jack C. Duffy.

Douglas D. Donnan, 71, 204 Josephine Ln NW died Monday, December 1, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Memorial Services: 1:00 P.M. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. There is no visitation. The Rev. Kent Landhius and Dr. Leonard Ranson of Cedar Hills Community Church will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Ann of Cedar Rapids; a son, Paul Donnan and his wife Shari of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Lisa Kress and husband Patrick of Hiawatha; his mother, Bernita Donnan of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Jan Pardubsky and husband Don of Surprise, AZ; and six grandchildren, Grant, Michael, Courtnie, Connor, Kailey and Sarah.
He was preceded in death by his father William.
Douglas was born March 31, 1932 in Cedar Rapids the beloved son of William James and Bernita L. Hoover Donnan. He married
Sally Ann Day on April 30, 1960 in Cedar Rapids. Douglas worked for Penford Products in the Sales Department for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cedar Hills Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Hills Community Church Building Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Gerald Donald "Red" Drallmeier, 79, of 2402 Deborah Drive SW, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2004 in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Services with military rites at 10 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Daniel Hurt of First Assembly of God Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday and at the chapel after 9:30 AM on Saturday.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Maxine, three daughters, Erika Jay Miller of Mt. Vernon, Marlene Jeffrey and Doris Dewane Hughes, and two stepsons, Gerald Batey and Lester Beverly Batey all of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Dewane Nicole Hughes of Joplin, Missouri, Christine Larry Fenton, Richard Dee Jeffrey, Trista Jeffrey, and Jason Kelly Jeffrey, Lynnette Batey and Chad Crystal Batey all of Cedar Rapids, and Valerie Roy Pierce of Washington, Iowa, and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Gerald was born in Farmersburg, Iowa on June 29, 1924 to Elmer and Anna Lenth Drallmeier. He graduated from Monona High School in 1941 and enlisted in the Army after Pearl Harbor, serving his country proudly from 1941 to 1948. He married
Wally Bess in Heidelberg, Germany in 1948. She died in 1962. He married
Maxine Batey on June 6, 1969 in Cedar Rapids.
Gerald worked for Cargill, Inc for nearly 30 years retiring in 1985. He was a life time member of VFW Post No 788.
He enjoyed traveling with Maxine, visiting many places in the United States and Europe until his health restricted his activities. He also enjoyed Charlie, his grand dog, watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes, his many mall friends, good neighbors, and his family.
Gerald's love, wit, and sense of humor, touched us all and he will be greatly missed.

Douglas Chester Cornish, 81, of 388 31st Street SE, passed on peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, March 16, 2008, after an extended illness. Memorial Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church by the Rev. David O'Connor. Friends may call at the church after 10 a.m. Doug donated his body to the University of Iowa Hospital for science and research. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; two sons, Mark Cornish and Matthew Sharon Cornish, all of Beaverton, OR; two daughters, Cynthia McBride of Marion, and Colette Cornish Michael Kelly, of St. Paul, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Christian and Brett.
Doug was born on October 15, 1926 in West Union to Dale and Gladys Cornish. He married
Ruby Buchheister on September 9, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. He retired after many years of service at Briggs Transportation. Doug was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Doug loved animals and enjoyed walking in the outdoors. He had a special love for his family.

Phyllis Cribbs, 77, of rural Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her family after a short illness. Service: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Pastor Peter Mordh officiating. Burial: 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Carlisle Township Cemetery, Carlisle. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday from 4PM to 6PM.
Phyllis was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Robert; two daughters, Cindy Craig Myers of Nevada and Patty Greg Sindt of Story City; and five grandchildren, Sarah Myers of Rochester, Minnesota, Christa Ryan Head of St. Paul, Minnesota, Amanda Jason Ryon of Ames, Andrew Sindt and Abigail Sindt of Story City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Phyllis was born March 30, 1930 in Des Moines, the daughter of Arthur and Nelle Olson. She graduated from Carlisle High School and Iowa State University with a major in home economics. Phyllis married
Robert Cribbs on July 27, 1952 at Carlisle and lived for over 50 years in the Cedar Rapids area.
She was a volunteer at Jane Boyd Community Preschool, Linn County 4H leader, and church office volunteer at Cedar Rapids Baptist Church. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.
A memorial fund has been established.
Hazel V. Canady

Hazel V. Canady, 90, of the Keystone Cedars died there on Sat. June 7, 2008 after a short illness. Services at 10:30 on Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Rev. Perry Fruhling, Rev. Nan Aalborg and Rev. Alfred Kaupins will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Marilyn of Cedar Rapids and a daughter, Jan Jerry Chmielewski Nelson of Albuquerque, NM., two sisters, Mildred George Brewer of Albuquerque, NM., Ruth Hanson of Vinton, and a brother, Glenn Roberta Skoog of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Robyn, Heather, Michelle, Gary and Scott; five great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Allisa, Savanna, Sayer and Emily Nelson; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Skoog of Sun City, AZ., and Marge Jury of Dayton, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Gordon, Eric and Ralph.
Hazel was born on Oct. 31, 1917 in Vinton, the daughter of E. Henry and Hilda Swanson Skoog. She married
Merritt D. Canady on June 8, 1941 in Vinton. He died in 1996. Hazel was an accountant for the Iowa District East L.C.M.S. for 14 years, retiring in 1986. She was a faithful member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church for many years as well as being a member of the Vinton Club and Jr. Farm Bureau. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, square dancing, quilting and time spent with her family and friends.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hazel's name.
Ruth Ann Winkler Chappell

Ruth Ann Winkler Chappell of Cedar Rapids, died June 22, 2008, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday at St Andrew Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Adix and Pastor Cliff Schmidt. A luncheon will follow at St Andrew. Internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello at 2:00 pm.
Ruth was born to Carl and Velma Schoon Winkler on April 27, 1936, in Monticello, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she later confirmed her faith. She graduated from Monticello High School as Salutatorian in 1954. She was employed in her early career by Collins, and later at Johnson Gas Appliance.
Ruth married
Robert Joy on June 3, 1956. They were later divorced. They had two children: Linda and Brian. Ruth married
Don Chappell on May 10, 1996.
Ruth was a member of St Andrew Lutheran Church since 1969. She served as a Sunday School teacher, on the church council and on the Altar Guild. Ruth enjoyed cross-stitch, spending winters in Arizona with her husband, and spending time with her family. She was a loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeye's, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Cubs.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband Don, her daughter Linda Cliff Schmidt of Kenosha, WI, her son Brian Kris Joy of West Des Moines, IA, and her step-son Jeff Jodie Chappell of Rowlett, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Andrew, Natalya, Nathan, Matthew, Jake and Jenna. She is also survived by her sister Carlene Adams of Monticello, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by two sisters-in-law: Betty White of Omaha, NE and Virginia Bill Bruch of Independence, MO, and by a special friend, Ellie Husman of Cedar Rapids. She will be deeply missed by many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a special brother-in-law, Gene Adams.
