James Clair Copper died Thursday June 3, 2010 following a long courageous battle with cancer. Services at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.

James was born on June 23, 1925 in Osage, the son of Edwin and Catherine (Roth) Copper. He married Ruth Beck in 1946 and were married for 24 years. He married Loretta (Hoppe) Lawrence on June 24, 1972.

James is survived by his wife, Loretta; his daughter Janell Reinhart of Marion, step-son, Tad Lawrence of Marion, grandson Jason Reinhart of Phoenix, AZ. ; granddaughter Heather (Jason) Walker of Independence, Mo., grandson Jayk Lawrence of Marion and granddaughter Adda Lawrence of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren include Layla and Roman Walker of Independence, Mo. and Kurtis Lawrence of Cedar Rapids. James is also survived by two brothers, Jerald (Beverly) Copper of Charles City and Edwin (Donna) Copper of Nashua. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, an infant son, Clair James and brothers, Robert and Gilbert.

James founded Copper Construction Company in 1950 and this was his 60th year in business, during which time he was a home builder, realtor and broker of his company, Copper Realty Inc. He developed the majority of single family lots in south Marion, and most recently he was a partner in the development of the Navajo Addition in SW Cedar Rapids. James was a member of the Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors of 26 years, the National Association of Realtors and a member of the Greater Area of Cedar Rapids Home Builders Association.

James had a heart warming smile and manner for all those he met. He was fondly called “Dad” by many close friends and family members. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a quiet man who personified dignity and grace and will be missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha.

Lucille Kathleen Carrero
Born in Chicago, Illinois on February 20, 1946
Departed on June 9, 2010. Resided in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Lucille Kathleen Carrero (Johnson), 64, of Ottumwa, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday morning, June 9, 2010, after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 1 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Revs Peter V. Contreras of Chicago, IL and Rev. Scott Breedlove will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, June 11, from 4-8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and after 12:30 PM Saturday June 12 at the chapel.

Lucille was born February 20, 1946, in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Pauline Carrero. Survivors include her mother, Pauline Carrero, her children Laura (Johnson) Davis, Sarah (Johnson) Prohm and husband Bryan of Hingham, MA, Mark Johnson and wife Jessica of Ottumwa, Iowa, Matthew Johnson and wife Rebecca of Hannibal, MO, and Aaron Johnson and wife Christina of Cedar Rapids, IA. She is reunited in death with her beloved son, Nathan whom she loved so deeply. Lucille was blessed with fourteen beautiful grandchildren who were the center of her world, Sterling, S'mone, Ashley, Sierra, Alexa, Benjamin, Anabel, Alexander, Caroline, Abriah, Jace, Jacob, Jesse & Elizabeth.

Also surviving Lucille are her siblings, sisters, Alice VanRyn and husband Ken of Chicago, IL, Ruth Baggio and husband Ken of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth Sesso and husband Pat of Chicago, IL Maryann Carrero of Chicago, IL, Rosemary Schwarzer of Chicago, IL, brothers Tito Carrero and wife Marie of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joseph Carrero and wife Stephanie of Chicago Il, Michael Carrero and wife Anna of Chicago, IL Robert Carrero of Chicago, IL, and James Carrero and wife Dawn of Parker, CO, and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Carrero and her brother, Jerry Carrero.

Lucille was a Christian whose strong love and faith in God was expressed outwardly through the joy and kindness shared with all those around her. To have known her was to have known her laughter and incredible generosity. She was an accomplished baker and loved nothing more than to bake for her friends and family. Lucille was always willing to help others through their struggles in life and she gave of her time through baking and volunteerism at various organizations in Hannibal, MO, Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids, IA. She loved to sing and was an active participant in the choirs at each church she attended. Lucille attended and remembered fondly her time as a student at Miracle Valley Bible College in Miracle Valley, AZ. She worked in Sales at various companies throughout Cedar Rapids and took pride in the multiple sales awards she received. Above all, Lucille was warm, caring and personable who had many lifelong friends, and lived by the philosophy that "only strangers are the friends I haven't met yet". Her most cherished role was that of "Mama". She had great pride in her children and grandchildren and loved sharing stories and pictures of them with all she met.

A memorial fund has been established.

Esther M. Crotty, 80, a resident of Silver Pines Care Center, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Friday in St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years Edward, three daughters Penny (Jim deceased) McDoniels of Hicksville, Ohio, Ginger (Patrick) O’Banion, and Cindy (Rod) Happel all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two sisters Wanda Blakley of Riverside, Iowa, and Lettie (Speck) Rittmeyer of Minnesota, a brother Dale (Betty) Freeman of Cedar Rapids, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, five brothers, and one great grandson.

Esther was born September 9, 1929, in Webb, Iowa, to Walter and Ruth Salton Freeman. She married Edward W. Crotty on April 29, 1948 in Laurens, Iowa. She was an inspector at Rockwell-Collins for 34 years. She was a member of the Eagles Club, Local IBEW 1362, and the I-Club. She enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, bowling, traveling, dancing, camping, and all U of I sports.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made for Breast Cancer Research.

Amanda Mae Coulbourn
Born in Center Point, Iowa on August 31, 1929
Departed on June 25, 2010. Resided in Farmington, Iowa.

Amanda Mae Coulbourn, 80, of Farmington, IA, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Per Amanda’s wishes her body has been cremated. A visitation will be held from 2 until 4 PM on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years Robert; children Kenneth Coulbourn and Crystall (Mickey) Estabrook both of Cedar Rapids; 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Bessie Cross.

Amanda was born August 31, 1929 in Center Point, IA, the daughter of William and Bessie (Conley) Cross. She married Robert Coulbourn on June 2, 1956 in Cedar Rapids. Amanda retired from Wilson Food after 32 years of service. She was a member of the Retirees Local Union 3 and United Packinghouse Workers Union. Amanda enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with her family.

Delores Ann Christiansen
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 23, 1944
Departed on July 5, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Delores A. Christiansen, 65, of Cedar Rapids, died July 5, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 9, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Rev. Donald Klein will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband Pete; her children, Peter Christiansen and wife Angela of Marion, Buffi Christiansen of Cedar Rapids, Brett Christiansen of Marion, and Tiffany McQuerry and husband John of Marion; her grandchildren, Brittany Christiansen, PFC Blake Christiansen USMC, Ben Christiansen, Myles Christiansen, and Caden and Cole McQuerry; her brothers, Ed Neff and wife Linda of Cedar Rapids, Terry Neff and wife Rosie of Cedar Rapids, and Al Neff of Marion; her sister, Bobbi Hajek and husband Dave of Cedar Rapids; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Delores was born August 23, 1944 in Cedar Rapids the son of Miles and Anna (Philipp) Neff. She attended Clarke College in Dubuque. She was united in marriage to Peter J. Christiansen on October 31, 1964 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She served as Vice President and Secretary of P & D Welding and Machine Company. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She enjoyed shopping and gambling. Above all, she enjoyed time spent with her beloved family. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the memorial fund established in her honor.

William T. "Bill" Clark
Born in LeRoy, Minnesota on April 8, 1947
Departed on July 18, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

William T. “Bill” Clark, 63, of 117 5th St. NW passed away Sunday July 18, 2010 at his home after a short illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Carla Burge will officiate. Burial with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, his children, Angie (Steve) Climer of Vinton, Ronnie (Kelley) Clark of Minnesota, Mike (Lisa) Clark of Anamosa, Michelle Eberhardt and Rhonda Clark both of Cedar Rapids; brothers and sisters, Leland (Donna) Swenson of van Horne, Allan (Tracy) Clark and Glenn (Gerry) Clark all of Marion, Sue (Lester Bailey) Clark and Mary Kourtis all of Cedar Rapids, step-children, Amber (Jon) Dinnel of Iowa City and Michael Stoddard of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gene and Archie, one sister, Kathy and three sons, Bill Jr., Robert and Scott.

Bill was born on April 8, 1947 in LeRoy, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Mae Thompson Clark. He married Beverly A. Vredenburg on January 9, 1990 in Rock Island, Illinois. She passed away in 2007. He then married Donna Baze on March 8, 2008 in Cedar Rapids.

Bill was a heavy equipment operator for several local construction companies and proudly served in the marines during the Vietnam War. Bill enjoyed life and the time he spent with his beloved family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
