Marjorie Ann Cook, 66, died on December 6, 2010 from complications of MS at Northbrook Manor Care Center. Services at 11 AM Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4150 Blue Jay Dr NE, Cedar Rapids. Paul Johnson and Bishop Mike Dupree will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7 PM on Friday and at the church after 10 AM on Saturday.
Surviving is her daughter, Laura (Mike) Cram of Urbana, IA; two grandsons Alvadore and Jonathan Cram; a sister Mary Ellen Boyer of Lakeside, AZ; and a brother Carl Hinshaw of El Centro, CA; many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvadore and Florence Hinshaw, two infant brothers and an infant sister.
Marjorie was born November 4, 1944 in Holtville, CA, the daughter of Alvadore and Florence (Walin) Hinshaw. She attended and graduated from SDSU. Marjorie married
Laurence Cook Sr. and later divorced. She worked for Calipatira Unified School District for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed reading, knitting, art, and loved spending time with her grandsons and grand puppies. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.

Mary Catherine Chapman, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2011 at Cottage Grove Place following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
Surviving are her husband of over 66 years, Charles “Chuck” Chapman; her sons, Alan (Kate) Chapman of Marion and Craig (Buck) Chapman of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Mark Chapman of Cedar Rapids and Anne (Nick) Maljkovic of New Orleans, LA; one great grand daughter, Mia; sisters, Gertrude Wasendorf of Cedar Rapids and Ann Clark of Davenport; and one brother, Paul (Sarah) Abernathy of Eureka, CA.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother James M. Abernathy.
Mary Catherine Chapman was born on April 4, 1924 in Kirkville, Iowa the daughter of James H. and Gertrude M. (Fuhs) Abernathy. She was united in marriage to Charles Henry Chapman, Jr. on October 25, 1944 in Cedar Rapids. Mary was employed as a Long Distance Operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone for 24 years. She and Chuck built their first home themselves, prior to moving to their current residence that they have lived in for over 50 years. She greatly enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states and several countries. She also enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamstress who was willing to try anything.
Mary will be remembered for always being an elegant lady who was very protective of her family and very independent. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in Mary’s honor.
Richard G. Damrow

** Dick Damrow, 60, died Tuesday February 24, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals from injuries suffered in a fall at his Cedar Rapids home. Dick was a man of great faith and lived his life as a servant of Christ. His network of friends, business associates, and family was immense. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Friday at New Covenant Bible Church. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jen Bear, a daughter, Debbie Damrow of Hastings Nebraska, four sons; Scott and wife, Tracy of Omaha, Nebraska; Andy and wife Sara of Seoul, Korea; Anthony and Adam both of Des Moines; his father, Don of Lexington, Nebraska; a sister, Linda Slothower (Gordon) of Springdale, Arkansas; brothers, Dennis (Sherry), of Johnson Lake, Nebraska and Marty (Jody) of Holdrege, Nebraska, Mary Jen’s children, Erik (Cindy) Bear and Rhet (Miranda) Bear. He is also survived by grandchildren, Cody, Bryce and Simon Damrow, Alex, Mason, Olivia, Honorae, Grant, Rae and Makenna.
Dick was born February 18, 1949 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Don and June Damrow. He was a graduate of Holdrege High School and Hastings College, both in Nebraska. He loved to travel with Mary Jen. They enjoyed working in their yard and spending quiet times in the hammock. He was so proud of his children and delighted in time spent with his grandchildren. His work was demanding and rewarding to him, especially when he was mentoring an entrepreneur in a new business start-up. He was always seeking to connect individuals and groups in his network that would benefit by knowing each other.
At the time of his death, Dick was Vice President for Marketing Resources, Stamats Communications and was “Captain” of Contract Marketing Resources, Business Propellers, his marketing consulting firm. During his 30 plus year career in advertising and marketing communications, he had worked with more than 150 national brands and more than 50 Fortune 500 companies. He was Executive Vice President of Carmichael Lynch Advertising Agency in Minneapolis before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1992 when he was recruited by Young & Rubican Global Advertising Network. Dick was a Certified Business Communicator (CBC), a Certified Professional Consultant (CPC), a former Midwest Direct Marketer of the Year, faculty member of the American Association of Advertising Agencies Advanced Advertising Institute, and was named to the Cedar Rapids Advertising Federation Hall of Fame in 2002.
Per Dick’s request as a tissue donor he’ll be able to help more than 100 people, one more way that Dick continues to give to others. The memorial funds are New Covenant Bible Church where Dick was an active member, the National Czech and Slovak Museum, and Theatre Cedar Rapids. He was on the board of each of the latter and passionate about their revitalization after the devastation of the floods of 2008.
Shirley Ann Donaldson

Shirley A. Donaldson, 77, of Cedar Rapids, IA died Monday, June 7, 2010 at her home.
Shirley was a creative and talented artist whose oil paintings were the focus of her home. Shirley earned her teaching degree from Iowa Teachers College (now Northern Iowa) in 1952 and taught elementary school for several years. She continued her education, graduating from Coe College in 1969 with a bachelors degree in Art History. For 30 years, Shirley was the Art Gallery Director at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1999.
Shirley was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cedar Rapids and its choir for over 50 years. She was an active member of PEO, supported the Cedar Rapids Symphony and Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, and enjoyed the Thursday Forums at Coe. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her book group and loved solving crossword puzzles. Shirley was known for her excellent cooking and wonderful dinner parties, and she was a loving and loyal friend, sister and mother.
Shirley shared her husband’s love of sailing, and they spent part of every year exploring the Great Lakes, East Coast and Bahamas in their boat, Cavale.
Survivors include her son Bill (Margi) Donaldson of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Kara Donaldson of Cedar Rapids; 3 grandchildren, Adam and Emily of Phoenix, AZ and Robert of Cedar Rapids; brother Gene (Diane) Strandberg of Punta Gorda, FL; brother Lauren Strandberg of Des Moines; and sister Marcia Merrill of Jericho, Vermont. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 11, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids with a reception immediately following in the Perrine Gallery at Coe College. Memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Shirley to the American Cancer Society, St. Luke’s Hospice, or First Presbyterian Church.

Lannie Conn III, 57, of 137 29th Street Drive SE died Tuesday April 19, 2011 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy after a short illness. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy, two daughters, Amber (Paul) Boshart of Melbourne, Florida and Alyssa Christenson of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Lannie IV who is in the service stationed in Germany and Alex of Cedar Rapids; three step-children, Brittneee and Jesseca Barrette and Tanner Conn all of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Andre Sharp of Hudson, Florida, father Lannie Conn Jr. of Virginia, sister Eleanor (Kenneth) Silva of Scotts Valley, California and two grandchildren Connor and Ashlyn. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald and an aunt Jessie.
Lannie was born on March 23, 1954 in San Diego, California, the son of Lannie and Andre Johnson Conn Jr. He married
Tammy J. Barrette on April 3, 2011 in Palo. Lannie was an HVAC mechanic for Johnson Control and Trane for over 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing, surfing, model airplanes and especially the time he spent with his beloved family and many friends. He was a wonderful son, husband, and father who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy.
Patricia Ann Corum

Patricia Ann Corum, 75, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died April 11, 2011 at Mercy Hospital following kidney failure as a result of lupus. Inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband and best friend Stanley E. Corum; son, Michael Corum and wife Jaxine of Pella; daughters, Peggy Corum of Braselton, GA and Nancy Montague and husband Rick of Cedar Rapids; brother, Obe Ross, Jr. and wife Dolores of Chesterfield, MO; step-sister, Joyce Montague of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Teresa Corcran, Jarod Yerkes, Grant Corum and wife Suzanne Stone, Eric Long and wife Ashleigh, Suzanne Corum-Rich and husband Keith Rich, Elizabeth Estes, Lindsey Estes and Andrew Corum; and great grandchildren, Sabrina, Tylor, Austin, Magdalena, and Maximus.
Patricia was born on March 20, 1936 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Obe M. and Charlotte M. (Anderson) Ross. She was united in marriage to Stanley E. Corum on January 9, 1954 in Marion, Iowa. She was employed for several years at Rockwell Collins, Square D, and L.I.F.T.S. Pat enjoyed going to casinos to play the slot machines with her two daughters, fishing with her husband, and time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed.
