Ruth Florence Carolina Wendt Fall passed away on May 26, 2008 after a long illness under Iowa Hospice care.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be at the First United Methodist Church of Marion on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA. Lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall at the United Methodist Church of Marion following the burial services.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karen Kay Jackson John of Tampa, FL; 3 grandchildren, Teresa Jackson Fields Tom of Cedar Rapids, Barry Jackson Tracey of Tampa, FL, Ronald R. Fall Tara of San Diego, CA., and Douglas A. Fall of Lisbon. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, Kortnee Holley Van Valkenburgh Tampa, Kaycee Holley Cedar Rapids, Zachary and Matthew Jackson Tampa, Stephanie and Jessica Nurre Marion, Ana Elise and Kylee Fall San Diego, CA, and Abbigale Fall Lisbon; a sister, Lucile Kessler Dubuque, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harland in 2005, one son, Lonny Ray in 1995, her parents, Ernest and Lillian Neese Wendt, and one sister Florence Kratoska.
Ruth was born August 5, 1925 in Clarence, IA to Ernest and Lillian Wendt. She graduated from Olin High School in 1943, and married
Harland the same year during World War II. They had celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2005. She lived in the Olin area for 44 years, was an active member in the Evangelical United Brethern Church and Olin Chapter of Pythian Sisters. They moved to Marion, in 1968, became an active member of Marion First United Methodist Church, held offices in United Methodist Women; Mary, Rebekah, & Miriam Circles for many years, and served on many committees. She was an avid craftsman and shared her talents throughout her life with numerous organizations. Ruth was employed at Rockwell Collins for 33 years retiring in 1985, continuing with volunteer work. She was active with Christian Women's Clubs, Friendship Club, New Encounters, and Retirees Luncheon group that have met for 20 years. Her many hobbies were arts and crafts, traveling, porcelain dolls, family heirlooms, antique dishes, and her flower garden and interior decorating. She loved to work crossword puzzles plus any other puzzles.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She gave her all for everyone and lived each day to the fullest, showing courage, faith and love for her family and friends. She will truly be missed and be in our memories forever. Her smile will always be with us.

G. W. 'Bill' Eddings, 80, of 2832 Camelot Ave NW, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services at 2 PM Friday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include twin sons Jon and wife Mary and Jay and wife Bonnie all of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Lexie von Yeast and husband David of Waterloo, Illinois, a sister Moline Marriot of Columbia, Missouri, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son David Patton Eddings and a cousin Samuel Semple of Moberly, Missouri.
Bill was born July 19, 1921 in Moberly, Missouri to George and Ethel Bradly Eddings. He married
Esther Head in Moberly, Missouri. She died in 1983.
He attended high school at Moberly, Missouri, the Moberly Junior College and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville. He received his M. A. degree from Iowa State College at Ames through postgraduate work.
In 1964 he came to work for the Cedar Rapids public schools for the Cedar Rapids Vocational Technical School, which later became Area 10 and then became Kirkwood Community College. He had served as President of the Iowa Vocational Association. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Rotary club for over 50 years and loved woodworking.

Harold F. Fillenworth, 83, of Heritage Nursing and Rehab died there on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 after a short illness. Services at 11 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral home from 5 to 8 PM on Wed.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Fillenworth, a son, Gary and his wife, Katherine all of Cedar Rapids and a brother, Walter and his wife, Suzy of Arlington, TX. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a daughter in law, Connie and a sister in law, Agnes Lindsey both of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Terry.
Harold was born on March 15, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edward and Jeanette Mendel Fillenworth. He married
Lois M. Pilgrim on Nov. 30, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. She died in 1985. Harold worked for the City of Cedar Rapids in the Fire Prevention Bureau and retired from there after many years of service. He was a former member of Concordia Lutheran Church, the American Legion and served in the Army during WWII. Memorial donations may be given to the Cedar Rapids Fire Dept. in Harold's name. Gloria E. Huntley, 67 of 1811 Lake Manor Road, Solon, Iowa died Friday morning, June 21, 2002 in her home following a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2002 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Chaplin Kim Vogel of Mercy Hospice officiating. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 8 on Sunday with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the Chapel after noon on Monday. Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Hanford Post #5 of Cedar Rapids.
Gloria is survived by her husband, David of Solon, 5 sons, Marc A. Huntley and wife Judy of Phoenix, Arizona, Randy L. Huntley and wife Sue of Falls Church, Virginia, Philip D. Huntley and wife Terri of Conrad, Iowa, David J. Huntley of Cedar Rapids and Matthew S. Huntley and wife Christina of Florissant, Missouri. A sister Barbara Cramer and husband James of Cleona, Pennsylvania and two brothers, Claude Bowman Jr. and wife Diane of Newbury, Florida and Ronald L. Bowman of Charleston, South Carolina. 11 grandchildren and three great grandsons.
Gloria was born February 3, 1935 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Claude and Mildred Krieder Bowman. She graduated from Lebanon High School. She entered military service in 1953 during the Korean Conflict in United States Navy. Gloria and David married
on June 5, 1954 in Cleona, Pennsylvania. Gloria worked for the Bell Telephone companies from 1977 till 1986. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose in Marshalltown. She also was a teacher's associate at Erskine Elementary School in Cedar Rapids. A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Helen I. Heath Ferriss, 77, Marion, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Services at 10 AM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial in the Green Center Cemetery, rural Morley, Iowa. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 6:30 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, and at the chapel after 9 AM on Friday.
Survivors include two sons Robert Deb Heath, and Dennis Jeralyn Heath, two daughters Joanne Heath and Dianna Don Briggs, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister Doris Jay Lerch. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant siblings, a sister Faye Dick Smith, and Uncle Charlie
Helen was born August 18, 1926 in Martelle, Iowa the daughter of P. D. and Clara Weaver Archibald. She married
Horace Heath in 1946 and later divorced. She retired from Collins Radio Co. where she worked as part of the Apollo Space Program. She then married
William Ferriss in 1971 and traveled and lived in various places across the US and overseas.
Returning to the Marion area in 1988, she was employed at Jacks Discount Store until she retired in 1996.
Her life centered around her family and her creative hobbies of sewing and crafts. She enjoyed her friends and family and appreciated the wonderful care she received from the staff at Mercy Medical Center.
A memorial fund has been established.

Norval L. 'Eddie' Edwards, 81, of 150 Thompson Dr. SE, died Monday, March 10, 2003, in his home. Services with military rites at10:30 AM Friday in All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. David O'Connor officiating. Entombment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday with a wake service beginning at 7 PM.
Survivors include his wife Mary, a daughter Maureen Fletcher and husband Greg of DeWitt, Iowa, two sons Thomas Edwards and wife Alexa of Belleville, Illinois, and Terry Edwards and wife Melissa of San Diego, California, a brother Robert Edwards and sister Frances Kunzweiler both of Ormond Beach, Florida, five grandchildren, Kevin Fletcher, Andrew and Morgan Edwards, and Andrea and Amy Edwards, and a great-granddaughter Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Norval was born August 27, 1921 in Ashland, Illinois, to Charles and Lottie Long Edwards. He married
Mary E. Callan on September 7, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. Norval was Vice President and General Manager of the Eastern Region for Mid Continent Bottlers for 41 years retiring in 1987. He served in the US Marine Corp during WW II
in Iwo Jima attaining the rank of Gunnery Sgt. He was a 51 year member of All Saints Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Past member of the board of directors at Elmcrest Country Club, a member of Cedar Rapids Optimist Club, Elks Club, a charter member of the University of Iowa Athletic Club, Past President of the Iowa Soft Drink Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Soft Drink Association.

LaVerne B. Buff Fleagle, 83, of 4435 Westchester Dr. N.E., died Monday at Manor Care following a brief illness. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church by Father Mark Osterhaus officiating. Interment: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, where a vigil service will be given at 7 p.m. Military services will be conducted by the VFW Post 788.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Agnes, 2 daughters, Ginger Steve Hull and Sherry Lou Decker, both of Cedar Rapids, brother, Donald Lois Fleagle of Cedar Rapids, one grandson, Scott Hull and wife Stacie, 2 great granddaughters, Alexis and Riley Hull, a step grandson, Shad Lyndie Decker and 2 step great grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Decker, all of Jesup, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and 2 sister in laws, Francis Crump and Cecilia Navratil, both of Cedar Rapids.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Fleagle Jr.
He was born August 17, 1920 at Rock Island, Illinois to Edward J. and Marie Dusek Fleagle and was married
to Agnes Navratil on December 1, 1942 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from St. Wenceslaus High School in 1939.
Vern served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2. He was a member of the St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Men's Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council #909, VFW Post 788 and the Elks Club.
He played baseball with the M & J League during the 1940s. Vern worked for the H.J. Heinz Company for 31 years, retiring in 1980. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and bridge player. He loved the outdoors and all of the wild life provided by God. Vern had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.
