Barbara Jean Fisher, 75, of 919 71st Street NE, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Friday in First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Surviving to honor her memory are her husband of 55 years Emerald, five children, Charles Fisher of Cedar Rapids, Mark Larene Fisher of Newhall, Wendy Fisher of Cedar Rapids, Michael Faith Fisher of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Crystal Gary Kerr of Marion, two sisters, Grace Niccum of San Jose, California, and Betty Uthoff of Independence, Iowa, her brother William Leilani Pecher of Fallon, Nevada, six grandchildren, Janis, Krista, Allison, Veronica, Caleb, and Deborah Jean, and five great grandchildren, Michael, Dalton, Cody, Levi, and Breanna. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Barbara was born May 19, 1933 in Moline, Illinois to Rudolph and Ruth Ploog Pecher. She married Emerald Fisher on September 7, 1953 in Brooklyn, Iowa. After graduating from St. Luke's School of Nursing she held many different nursing positions before becoming director of nurses at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church Church of the Brethren. She loved nature, cooking, and was an avid Cubs fan. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with them.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren 5200 Northland Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Elisabeth "Betsy" Ellison

Elisabeth “Betsy” Ellison, 82, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memoires. Pastor Bob Voels will officiate with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:30 AM on Saturday at the chapel.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years Franklin “Pete” Ellison; son Timothy Kevin Ellison of Cedar Rapids; and many cousins throughout Iowa and Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Olive Froman.

Betsy was born November 14, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Harvey and Olive (Snetzler) Froman. She married Franklin Joseph Ellison on October 17, 1951 in Nashua, IA at the Little Brown Church. Betsy was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing and knitting. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids.

Jeffrey Lynn Erwin
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on May 11, 1948
Departed on May 31, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The family has requested private services.
Jeffrey Lynn Erwin, 62, died on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, after an eight-year struggle with diabetes. He was born May 11, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Washington High School and attended Coe College.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and served during the Vietnam War as a radio technician. He was stationed in Thailand, Vietnam, and South Korea. While stationed in Korea he met his wife, Kim, who later joined him in the United States.

They lived together in Texas for one year, and then they moved back to Cedar Rapids where they were married. They soon after bought a home in southwest Cedar Rapids and started their family. Their first son, James, was born in 1974. Their second son, Scott, was born in 1976.

During his 30-year career as a commercial and industrial electrical supply estimator, he worked for Justice Electric Co., Baker Electric Inc., Van Meter Industrial and Crescent Electric Supply Co. His work as an estimator contributed to numerous projects across Eastern Iowa, including several buildings on the University of Iowa campus, Lindale Mall, and Coral Ridge Mall.

His integrity, humor, and love filled the lives of those around him.

He is survived by his wife Kim Erwin. His brother George Erwin lives in Columbus, Ohio, and his sister Kathy Penningroth lives in Oxford, Iowa. His son James lives in Des Moines with his wife Jessica and son Silas, and his son Scott lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Rose.

A service will be held for close friends and family.

Ruth Hildegarde Evanson
Born in Quincy, Illinois on February 21, 1910
Departed on May 29, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Ruth Hildegarde Evanson, 100, of the Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, died peacefully May 29, 2010. At her request there will be no memorial services. Inurnment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Hildegarde was born February 21, 1910, in Quincy, Illinois, to Elizor and Lillian Blackman Bucklew, She married Dr. Clifford Hendricks and had one son Dr. Clifford Hendricks, Jr.

She married Howard Hicks Evanson in 1940. They moved from Gulfport, Florida, to Cedar Rapids in 1990.

Hildegarde was an elegant lady who always felt that family came first. She had traveled extensively and was a duplicate bridge Life Master. She was an avid reader and enjoyed entertaining. She was a member of PEO and First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.

Those left to honor her memory are her son Dr. Clifford Hendricks, Jr. and his friend Monti Hawkins, of Cedar Rapids, a step-daughter Marjorie (Doug) Smith of Rockford, Illinois, a daughter in law Joanne Hendricks of Cedar Rapids, three grandchildren Deborah (Michael) O’Connell of Morgan Hill, California, Dr. Clifford (Jean) Hendricks III, and Kristin Hendricks, all of New Orleans, LA, and five great grandchildren Taylor, Michael Jr. and Cameron O’Connell, Evan Hendricks, and Bennett Hendricks. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Evanson, two sisters Edna Lohr and Ann Randall, and a brother Harvey Bucklew.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the Meth-Wick Community for their kind and loving care of her.

Jeannette Faas, 88, of Hiawatha, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Hiawatha Care Center. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday April 13 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Dan Krueger. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday April 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children; Lynda (Robert) Hembera of Hiawatha, Steven Faas of Hiawatha, Vicky (Dennis) Jobe of Toddville, two brothers; David Williams of Hiawatha and Russell (Maxine) Williams of Monticello, four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, parents, three sisters, two brothers, and a great grandson.

Jeannette was born August 24, 1922 in Williamsburg to Gwilyn and Mary Williams. She married James Faas on December 31, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha and active with the Ladies Guild.

A memorial fund has been established.

Lois M. Ferreter
Born on May 10, 1926
Departed on April 17, 2011. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Lois M. Ferreter, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died at home early Sunday, April 17, 2011.
Services are pending with Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include children, Dick Ferreter of Cedar Rapids, Colleen Ferreter of Peoria, AZ, and Randy Ferreter and wife, Terry of Orlando, FL as well as four grandchildren, Kyle and Ross Ferreter-Smith and Justin and Rachel Ferreter. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman.

Lois was born May 10, 1926. Her parents were Dr. Walter and Ethel Pflughaupt of Oelwein, Iowa. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught for a few years before marrying Norman Ferreter on June 3, 1950. Lois loved children and taught for many years in the Cedar Rapids School District. She was the quintessential kindergarten teacher and loved holidays. She continued to decorate her home to match each season and Christmas was an extravaganza. Lois was an avid bargain shopper, wonderful friend and a loving wife and mother.

Survivors include her children Susan Reed and husband Rick of Centertown, MO, Timothy Wilson and wife Kim of Iowa Falls, Jack Wilson of Lillington, NC, and Jill Williams and husband Bob of Cedar Rapids; sister Martha Herren and husband Milton of Lisbon; brother William Farmer and wife Marlys of Marion; grandchildren Shelly O'Connell, Crystal Reed, Jamie Schobey, Ondria Stevenson, Becca Wilson, Mac Wilson, Jennifer Wilson, Cecil Wilson, Rosemary Wilson, Angela Maratz, Candice Waltz, and Richard Waltz; 9 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Wanda Bernacki and Doris Hite-Bernacki, and brother Richard Farmer.

Patricia Ann Farmer-Wilson was born March 29, 1928 to McKinley William and Arva Smith Farmer. She was employed for many years at K-Mart as an assistant manager, and previously was employed with Rockwell Collins. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Her greatest enjoyments of her life were her home and her loving family. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the memorial fund established in her honor.
