Gerald R. “Jerry” Ferring, 71, of 2821 Glen Elm Dr. NE, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Neil Manternach of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church will officiate. Private entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday and at the chapel after 10 AM on Monday.
Survivors include his wife Shirley, his mother Alma Ferring of Lansing, Iowa, two daughters Tami (Terry) Abraham of Lisle, Illinois, and Debbie Ferring-Seaton of Cedar Rapids, a son Jeff (Stacie) Ferring of Palo, sisters, Donna Danzer, Mary Garrett and Rita Heim, brothers Bill, Tom, and Ron Ferring, and six grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Abraham, and Sanders, Ashten, Sloane, and Saylor Ferring. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Ferring, brothers Keith, Steven, Kenny, and Dwayne, and two sisters Virginia and Bernice.
Jerry was born October 29, 1936, in Lansing, Iowa, to Joseph and Alma Cole Ferring. He married
Shirley Wolfe on October 24, 1959 in Cedar Rapids. He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local 238 for 25 years retiring in January of 1999. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1957. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially at his lake home at Holiday Lake. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and was an Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Mary E. Eden, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died January 12, 2009 in her home surrounded by her loving family, following an extended battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 16, 2009 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Rev. David Hagstrom will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Thursday January 15, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her sons David of Cedar Rapids, Steve and wife Nancy of Swisher, Doug and wife Willie of Edina, MN, Stuart and wife Sheila of Valparaiso, IN, and Jason of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Nicole Lepic, Mike Eden, Natalie Eden, Douglas Eden, Madeleine Eden, Shannon and Sydney Eden, and Jordan Nost; great granddaughter Tiffany Primmer; sister Betty Dittmer of California; brothers Duane (Lorraine) Dittmer of Dallas, TX, and Denny (Jud) Dittmer of Tipton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald (Dutch) Eden; brothers Norbert, Neil, Wendell, Dwight, Bill, Louis, and sister Jean.
Mary Elaine Eden was born August 29, 1927 in Strawberry Point, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Vera (Alderson) Dittmer. She was married
to Donald E. “Dutch” Eden in 1948 at Strawberry Point, Iowa; he preceded her in death on June 26, 1983. She received her bachelor’s degree from Coe College, and later had received her Certified Public Secretary rating. She was employed as an executive secretary at Iowa Manufacturing, Collins Radio, Cherry Burrell and VRC. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Order of The Eastern Star, and Widow and Widowers. She greatly enjoyed the fine arts, and attended Theatre Cedar Rapids often. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many who will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caretaker and close friend, Patti Marr who assisted, cared, and was a dear friend. The family also thanks St. Luke’s Hospice, 5-Center Outpatient Infusion, and the numerous friends and family that have extended their love and support to Mary and her family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Luke’s Foundation designated to 5-Center Outpatient Infusion Center.
Carol J. Frye

Carol Frye, 59, of 2859 Hunt Trail, Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at her home with her husband by her side after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rev. Steve Rosonke will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 5 PM Sunday and at the church after 9:30 AM on Monday.
Carol was born May 15, 1946 to Milo and Catherine Mahring. Carol grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School. On July 10, 1965, she married
her high school sweetheart Richard Frye with whom she had two daughters and son during their 40 year marriage, Wendy, Jenny and Duane Frye.
Carol loved to work with the public; she spent 25 years working with Eagle Food Stores throughout the Cedar Rapids area. She then was a co-owner of Carousel Foods in Cedar Rapids for 10 years. At the time of her death she was employed at Aegon USA's Diversified Investments Division.
Throughout her life, Carol enjoyed hot air ballooning, bowling, cake decorating, scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Carol was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. In all aspects of her life, her family came first; they looked to her for guidance and encouragement throughout her life. She was deeply loved by her husband, family and friends, and they are blessed to have been loved by her. She will always be in their hearts and souls and will truly be missed.
Carol is survived by her husband Richard; two daughters Wendy, North Hollywood, CA. and Jenny Marty, St. Louis, MO., one son, Duane, Cedar Rapids; and one grandchild who she adored and loved, Emma, St. Louis, MO. two sisters, Joyce Dennis Kaplan, Richardson, TX, Linda Bruce Koehler of Cedar Rapids, and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her father Milo and her mother Catherine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Robert Earl Elliott

Robert (Bob) Earl Elliott died peacefully at Mercy Hospital on December 31, 2008, following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 5, 2009, at Salem United Methodist Church (formerly Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church), 327 35th Street NE, Cedar Rapids. Rev. John Louk will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday at 2:00 PM. Military rites by VFW Post # 788.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters, Linda (David) Jandik of Cedar Rapids and Sheryl (Bill) Neal of Williamsburg, Iowa; and one sister, Martha Kirchner, of Ottawa, Illinois; two sisters-in law, Marcella Bruns and Anna Mae (Anthony) Komisar, both of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Robin (Matt) Shaver of Cedar Rapids; Kay Jandik of Iowa City; Ken (Amber) Jandik of Fort Myers, Florida; Amy (Ryan) Kay of Cedar Rapids; Beth Neal and fiancé Zachary Keeney of Waterloo. He also has three great-grandchildren: Joe Slaton of Iowa City and Raelynn Shaver and Cameron Shaver, both of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and Jack Elliott.
Robert was born March 10, 1920, to Iva Opal (Misbach) Elliott and Earl R. Elliott. Robert graduated in 1938 from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. He enlisted in the U. S. Naval Reserve in December, 1941, and served until September, 1945. He was a Radioman Second Class and participated in D Day operations at Omaha Beach. He was awarded WWII medals including the Purple Heart. He is a member of Salem United Methodist Church, a life member of VFW 788 and American Legion Post #5; and was inducted into both the state and Cedar Rapids Softball Halls of Fame. He retired from Vigortone in 1985. He loved to golf, play cards, and was a member of Senior Bowling League. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Robert was married
to Jean Weis on September 26, 1942, in Lancaster, Missouri. They celebrated their 66 wedding anniversary in September, 2008.

Bob’s long battle with pain has finally ended and he has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who love him dearly

Cheryl K. (Sheridan) Frazier, 46, of Marion passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at her home with her family by her side after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Antioch Christian Church, 7215 Cottage Grove Pkwy, Marion. Pastor John Seitz will officiate with burial in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband Maurice of Marion; children Isaac, Elijah, and Olivia Frazier; parents Jerome and Joan Sheridan of Bettendorf; sisters Cyndi Sheridan of Davenport, and Connie (Carlos) Padilla of CA; mother-in-law Susie McLaughlin of Davenport; father-in-law Marshall Frazier of Blytheville, AR; sister-in-law LaDanna Ross (Marvin) of Davenport; brother-in-laws Marshall (Korie) Frazier of Waterloo, Renard Rogers of Davenport, Reginald Frazier of Virginia, and Derrick McLaughlin of Davenport; and several nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was born February 25, 1964 in Davenport, the daughter of Jerome and Joan (Kakert) Sheridan. She married
Maurice Frazier on July 17, 1993 at the Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport. She most recently worked for the Marion YMCA as the Membership Services Coordinator. Previous to the YMCA she worked for Sam Goody Records as Store Manager and for Younkers in Fashion Merchandising both in Davenport. Cheryl was a member of the Antioch Christian Church, Marion. She enjoyed all forms of art, collecting Elvis memorabilia, running, and most of all spending time with her family.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Jane Doty.
Gary Lee Ehrenberger was born February 5, 1959 in Cedar Rapids the beloved son of Russel E. and Charlotte J. (Dostal) Ehrenberger. After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1977, Gary attended and completed electrician program. He was owner and operator of Fowler Electric. He was united in marriage to Linda Doty on September 1, 2000 at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Gary greatly enjoyed reading, traveling, and scuba diving. Above all Gary’s greatest enjoyment was his time spent with his family whom he dearly loved. He will forever be remembered for his caring, generous, and loving personality. He was a loving son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many who will be greatly missed.

Mary Mardell Emig, 93, of 455 – 1st Street, Marion, died at her home, Saturday, December 13, 2008, after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Marion by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include three sons, Richard and Charles Emig, both of Marion, and Dan (Sheri Chapman) Emig of Ely; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mardell was born on April 27, 1915 in Afton to James and Grace McCrackin. She married
Harold Emig on January 19, 1936 in Kellerton. He died in 2000. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Women’s Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mardell was a Gold Star Mother. Mardell liked to garden but her top priority was her family; spending time with them and attending all their events.
