Gene E. Faas, 67, of 212 East 4th Street in Tipton died Monday, April 10, 2006 at his home after a short illness. Services at 3 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 2 PM on Friday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three nephews, Michael Bev Faas of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Steven Faas of Cedar Rapids and Kevin Faas of Vinton, two nieces, Lynda and Vicky, both of Cedar Rapids and many grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Melvin.
Gene was born on Sept. 12, 1938 in Millersburg, the son of Orville and Lulu Gerard Faas. Gene farmed for most of his life. He enjoyed painting, puzzles, collecting stuffed animals and birds as well as gardening. He will be greatly missed by all. Memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous in Gene's name.

David C. Ford
Born in East Moline, Illinois on March 11, 1929
Departed on April 14, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

David C. Ford, 77 of 3355 Dalewood Ave. S.E., died on Good Friday, April 14, 2006 following a brief illness. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church by Revs. Ted Miller and Lorene Wunder officiating. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m on Monday, where a Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. by Mizpah Masonic Lodge #639. A private inurnment will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving besides his wife Gail Guthrie Ford, are two daughters, Paula Ford Innis and husband Dave of Cincinnati, Ohio, Deb Ford Shipman of Princeton, Iowa, a son Steve Ford and wife Deb of Cedar Rapids, and stepson Duane Guthrie and wife Amy of Allen, Texas and stepdaughter Amy Brown and husband Curtiss of Charlotte, NC. Dave also leaves 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren and 2 Brothers: James Ford and wife, Sylvia of Rochester, Minnesota and John Ford and wife, Jill of Hohenwald, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda J. Ford, his parents, Robert and Mary Ford, 2 brothers-Robert Ford Jr. and Richard Ford, and a sister, Camille Jean Ford.

Dave was born March 11, 1929 in East Moline, Illinois to Robert and Mary Ishmael Ford and was married to Brenda J. Wood on September 20, 1953 in England. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was then married to Gail Guthrie on September 1, 2001 in Cedar Rapids.

A graduate from Moline High School in 1946, he had served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 1948, and the U.S. Air Force from 1950 1954.

Dave was employed in the Steel industry for 40 years, as a Sales rep for several companies. He retired from Intertrade Steel Company in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Ford was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had been very active as a member of the session and as a deacon; Past President of the Linn County Civitan Club and past Regional Director of Civitan International; the Mizpah Masonic Lodge # 639 AF & AM; and a member of the Davenport Jaycees in 1950-60s.

Dave enjoyed travel throughout his life. He explored the US extensively and the UK and Europe visiting family and friends. He also gave of his time tireless to service organizations, including the Special Olympics through Civitan. He also served as a Big Brother to a handicapped adult. Dave was a wonderful husband, father, and friend and will be deeply missed.

John Flugga
Born in Waverly, Iowa on April 20, 1921
Departed on June 11, 2006. Resided in Marion, IA.

John Flugga, 85, of Marion died June 11, 2006 at his home following a short illness. At John's request there will be no services held. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Lavon, daughters Sandy Dixon of Las Vegas, NV, and Kim Flugga Ciha and husband Brad Ciha of Cedar Rapids; grandsons Josh Faye Dixon of St. Louis, MO, and Zach Dixon of Las Vegas.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Eldora Flugga.

John Flugga was born April 20, 1921 in Waverly the beloved son of John and Anna Giesler Flugga. He was united in marriage to Lavon Frericks on September 10, 1944 in Des Moines. He was employed as a manager at Country Cobbler Shoes and Walker Shoes for over 50 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was an usher, and was a volunteer driver for Aging Services.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mount Vernon Rd SE, Cedar Rapids, IA, in John's name.

Joyce Ann Fare
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on June 15, 1952
Departed on February 3, 2010. Resided in Mt. Vernon, IA.

Joyce Ann Fare, 57, of Mt. Vernon died February 3, 2010 in Cedar Rapids. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Saturday February 20, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are siblings Carol (Chuck) Dewey of Iowa City and Bill Fare of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Joyce was born June 15, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Raymond and Celena Fare. Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous at P.O. Box 418 Monticello, IA 52310-0418 where Joyce found so much joy. She will be missed by her family, her friends at REM Iowa, and all who had the joy to know her.

Douglas K. Franklin
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on September 13, 1942

Douglas K. Franklin, 63, 1544 C Ave NE. died Thursday June 22, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Services at 10:00 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Harlan Gillespie and Rev. Carol Sundberg will officiate. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl, a son, Bryan Ellen of Iowa City and a daughter, Angela Al Jessen of Ft. Dodge. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Natalie Franklin and Danielle and Zachary Jessen, four step grandchildren, Alan Jr., Nicole, Michael, and Brandon Jessen and his pet cats, Emily and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Doug was born on Sept. 13, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gilbert and Phyllis Geiger Franklin. He married Cheryl S. Clark on April 17, 1965 in Rock Island, Illinois. Doug worked in shipping at Rockwell-Collins for 38 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Union NO. 1362. He was an avid reader and enjoyed computer games, the lottery, fishing and especially time spent with his friends and family. Memorial donations may be given for Cystic Fibrosis Research at the University of Iowa in Doug's name.

Robert E. Fleming

Robert Earl “Bob” Fleming, 95, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Hospice of Mercy Chaplain Christine Wagner-Hecht. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with military services by the Iowa National Guard. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service.

Survivors include son, Tim (Jan) Fleming of Northbrook, IL; grandchildren, Tim (Lisa) Fleming Jr. and Chris (Kristin) Fleming; and great grandchildren, Stuart, Brianna, Sydney, and Jake. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marie.

Bob was born January 15, 1915 in Cedar Rapids to William and Agnes Fleming. He married Marie Blume there on July 26, 1940. She died in 1980. Bob was an Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Cherry Burrell in 1979. Bob loved to fish, work in his yard, and walk.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society or North Shore United Methodist Church @ 213 Hazel, Glencoe, IL 60022.

Gilbert T. Feiereisen
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on March 17, 1918
Departed on October 18, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Gilbert T. Feiereisen, 88, of 410 21st St. N.W. died Wednesday at Mercy Medical Center of complications of a stroke. Services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Sharon United Methodist Church by Revs. Jack Kendall and Jack Hooten officiating. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and at the church after 2 p.m. on Saturday. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Verle Haupt of Jewell, Iowa and Dianne Bob Richardson of Chattanooga, Tennessee and a granddaughter Sara.

He was born March 17, 1918 in Cedar Rapids to Thomas and Rose Dvorak Feiereisen and was married to Agnes Hasik on October 12, 1940 in Cedar Rapids. She preceded him in death in 1984.

He retired in 1982 as a draftsman after 42 years with the Iowa Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the American Legion Hanford Post # 5. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp where he served as a pilot during World War II. He also enjoyed being part of senior aerobics at the Witwer Senior Citizen's Center.

The family would like to thank the staff on the 9th Floor of Mercy Medical Center and Hospice of Mercy for their kindness and loving care during his illness. Friends may, if they wish, make contributions to Sharon United Methodist Church, 1809 9th St. S.W. 52404 or Hospice of Mercy, 2740 1st Ave. N.E. 52402.
