Bruce D. Fenchel, 83, of 3340 Windhaven Lane, died at home on Sunday, October 19, 2008. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Thomas E.S. Miller. Private Burial: Strawberry Point Cemetery, Strawberry Point. A visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Thursday. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jean; sons Bruce Fenchel (Tammy Soule) of Gulfport, Mississippi and Steven (Beth) Fenchel of Traverse City, Michigan; grandchildren Jennifer Fenchel at Central Michigan University, Emily Fenchel, Jacob Fenchel, and Natalie Fenchel, all of Traverse City, Michigan, and Leiden Cervantes and Franklin Hornbuckle of Iowa City; stepdaughter Keri (Mike Cervantes) Hornbuckle of Iowa City; stepson Gavin Hornbuckle of Phoenix, Arizona; brother Fred (Ila Mae) Fenchel of Mason City; sisters-in-law Agnes Fenchel and Phyllis Fenchel of Strawberry Point; and many beloved nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers George and Bernard; and sister Trudy Westin.
Bruce was born on March 11, 1925 to Fred and Gertrude Pilgrim Fenchel in Strawberry Point. He was drafted into the US Army when he was 18 and served as a Sherman tank driver in General Patton’s 4th Battalion D Company. On April 4, 1945 his unit liberated the Nazi Prison Camp at Ohrdruf, Germany. For many years he suffered the memories of those terrible years but in 2002 he began the first of several visits to former warzones of Europe and began to heal and find closure.
After the war, Bruce returned to Iowa and completed his undergraduate and dental education at the University of Iowa. He served as a family dentist in Manning, Iowa and in Cedar Rapids. Bruce enjoyed participating in the local, state, and national dental associations very much and remained active in the professional societies throughout his life.
Bruce was a member of Rotary and also the Grand Lodge of Iowa (Masons) in Manning and Cedar Rapids for over 50 years. He loved his community and was dedicated to his patients, his friends, and family.
Bruce loved spending time outdoors with his family. He raised his two sons on land where they raised goats, sheep, horses, and dogs, as well as hunting rabbits and deer. They built their own lake with a dock and later a cabin. Many joyful days were spent working at the lake and fishing with grandkids and friends.
Most important to Bruce were his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
We love you Bruce. You will be greatly missed.

Dorothy E. (Kackley) Fishel

Dorothy E. (Kackley) Fishel, 85, of 323 Paula Lane NE died Friday Feb. 13, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday. Per Dorothy’s request the casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include her husband Eugene, three sons, Mike (Megan) of Portland, Oregon, Steven (Linda) of Cedar Rapids, Jeffrey (Wanda) of Cedar Falls and a daughter, Barb (Dave) O’Connell of Manchester, two twin sisters, Marilyn Marlow and Carolyn (Earl) Finke all of St. Louis. She is also survived by11 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, two brothers, and two great grandchildren, Darian and Michael.
Dorothy was born in St. Louis, Mo, on March 13th, 1923. She was the daughter of Frank Clinton and Augusta C (Anderson) Kackley and was the second of six children. She attended school in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Southwest High in January 1941.
In February 1944 Dorothy joined the Navy and served at the Balboa Naval Hospital, in San Diego, California. She later transferred to the Dental Clinic at Cuddihy Field, and Main airbases, both in Corpus Christi, Texas until her discharge in June, 1947.
In 1948 she lived in Chicago, IL and was employed as a secretary-proof reader to create the indexes for the "Book House for Children".
Dorothy met Eugene H. Fishel in Chicago and they were married
on June 23, 1949. They had two sons in Chicago when Eugene was attending Podiatry school.
In May 195l, Dorothy & Eugene moved to Manchester, Iowa and established a house-office where they worked together in Eugene’s Podiatry practice. In Manchester, Dorothy & Eugene had two more children, a daughter and a son. They built a new house-office in 1967 and continued to work until selling the practice in October 1993 and moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy’s name. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.
Armand Donte Kit Fuller

Armand Donte Kit Fuller, 55 of Cedar Rapids, died February 28, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his brother Armand C. Kim Fuller of Cedar Rapids, an aunt Lila Jackson, and several extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Armand Donte Kit Fuller was born December 27, 1953 in Cedar Rapids the beloved son of Armand Dwight and Barbara (Freeman) Fuller. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Cedar Rapids. He was a former member of the Red Cross and assisted with disaster recovery.

Anne S. Fischer, 89, of West Ridge Care Center, died there, Monday, March 2, 2009, after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Jerry Doellinger of Concordia Lutheran Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Saturday. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Jaclyn Fischer of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Casey and Max Havelka; two siblings, Alfred Semm and Emma Collazo and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick G. Fischer and several siblings.
Anne was born on January 20, 1920 in Alta Vista. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and then received a Master’s degree in English from the University of Northern Colorado. Anne taught English for over 30 years at both Atkins and Prairie High School, retiring in 1985. After retiring she enjoyed traveling and visiting her grandchildren. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Donald Joseph Friedman

Donald Friedman, 53, of Cedar Rapids passed away Friday March 20, 2009 in his home of a heart ailment. Memorial Services will be private.
Survivors include his father Emmett Friedman of Marion, four brothers; Steve (Sue) Friedman of Fort Atkinson, WI, Chuck (Kay) Friedman of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Laura) Friedman of Mt. Vernon and a twin Doug (Denise) Friedman of Geneva, IL and three sisters, Ann (Larry) DeGroodt of Lake St. Louis, MO, Jean (Brian) Philipp of Swansea, IL and June (James) Tipton of Marion.
His mother preceded him in death.
Donald Joseph Friedman was born March 16, 1956 in Cedar Rapids to Emmett and Germaine Friedman. He enjoyed running and ran several marathons. He relaxed by listening to jazz and reading poetry. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and USC and loved family gatherings. He will be dearly missed.

Ann Marie Feld, 45, of Santa Barbara, CA, died Tuesday March 31, 2009 in her home from natural causes. Ann has been cremated. There will be a visitation Tuesday April 14, 2009 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. with a Vigil starting at 7:30 P.M. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Ann Marie, the daughter of John B. and May Kay Feld, of Marion, IA., was born June 9, 1963, in Atlantic, IA. She graduated from West Delaware High School where she was crowned homecoming queen in 1981.
She then attended the University of Northern Iowa and received a degree in public relations. She settled in Santa Barbara, CA where she worked for Tri County Regional Services.
Ann Marie had a very quick witted personality and loved to have long conversations with her loved ones. She was very caring and generous. She was there when you needed her, with concrete advice with a humorous outlook. She was a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed. There will be a void in our hearts forever.
Survivors include her parents, John B. and Mary Kay Feld, of Marion, two brothers, Stephen (Julia) Feld of State Center, IA., and Dan (Dianne) of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Angela (Blake) Wilkinson of Marion, and Terese (John) Fisher of Cedar Rapids, two nieces, Shelby and Laura; and five nephews, Joseph, Matthew, Brian, Jacob and Patrick.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John and an infant brother, Patrick.
