Ardis Lillian Floyd, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, with congestive heart failure. Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. following visitation at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ardis was born April 24, 1924, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Harry C. and Rachel Gardner. She married
Harold R. Floyd on Sept. 18, 1947, at Rock Falls, Ill. Ardis worked for Cryovac and was a longtime employee of Turner Microphone where she retired.
Ardis was a wonderful mother and grandmother and enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her family.
Ardis is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Gary) Louvar of Cedar Rapids; one son, Terry Christian (Mary) of Davenport; a stepson, Allan (Fran) Floyd of Lakeland, Ga.; a sister, Jean (Bob) Barta of Solon, IA; a son-in-law, Gail Thompson of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Dr. Melissa (Shawn) Louvar Reeves of Charlotte, N.C., Kyle (Nicole) Louvar of Houston, Texas, Denis (Marcia) Chavez and Tony Schmelzer of Cedar Rapids, Greg (Janice) Schmelzer of Springville, Cami (Dr. Tim) Smith of Bettendorf and Todd (Leslie) Christian of Shawano, Wis.; stepgrandchildren, Dale Floyd of Tampa, Fla., Anita Gray and Doug Floyd of Lakeland, Ga.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, on June 21, 2004; and her daughter, Dixie Thompson, on Oct. 6, 2005.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

Linda M. Godwin, 64, of Cedar Rapids / Las Vegas, Nevada, died at Mercy Medical Center, with her family at her side on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic church by the Rev. David Beckman. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m., where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Ron;, her children, Jeffrey (Teresa) Kapler of Plymouth, Minnesota and Chad (Whitney) Kapler of Chandler, Arizona, siblings, Colleen Hamilton of Plano, TX, Ronald Smith of Dubuque, Patricia Smith of Aliso Vijo, California, Carol Smith of Marion, Ellen Eihausen and Laurie Smith, both of Ft. Collins, CO, and Orrin Smith Jr. of Coggon; and three grandchildren, Drake, Jack and Michael Kapler. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Smith.
Linda was born December 26, 1945 in Dubuque to Orrin and Rita Smith. She married
Ron Godwin in Cedar Rapids on August 30, 1997. Linda worked for Square D. Company for 28 years. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and Spanish Trail Country Club, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Linda was reliable and dependable, a true giver in life often making sacrifices of her own to help others meet their own needs. She was someone who never took pity on herself in challenging times, instead rising to the occasion and leading by example.
Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. There was nothing she valued more than spending time with her family.
She also enjoyed seeing the world in her later years, whether in Australia witnessing the Olympics, riding a gondola in Italy, or in Vegas at Spanish Trail Country Club sipping on a Santa Margherita before a night out on the strip playing video poker.
Admired by so many, she will be greatly missed. Her strength and strong will combined with compassion and a positive outlook on life, made her a very unique and influential person who has touched the lives of so many who knew her.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mercy Medical Center and the staff of the Intensive Care Unit for the loving care they gave to Linda.

Dorothy C. Gunderson, 67, of the Methwick-Community died there on Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 after a long illness. Services at 11 AM on Sat. at St. Andrew Lutheran church. Rev. T. Edwards Breed will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the Church after 10 AM on Saturday.
Survivors include her husband, James, a daughter, Diane Kramer of Cedar Rapids, two sons, Steve Kramer and his wife Kristie, of Tucson, AZ., Ron Kramer and his wife, Lori of Tulsa, OK, two sisters, Mildred Graf of Mission, TX. and Donna Schult of Oelwein. Also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, LaVern Begalske.
Dorothy was born on Oct. 29, 1934 in Hawkeye, the daughter of Ernest and Caroline Zupke Begalske. She married
James H. Gunderson on June 6, 1992 at the Little Brown church in Nashua. Dorothy was a hostess at the Springhouse Restaurant for 16 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Eagles Club and St. Andrew Lutheran church where a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy's name. She is now at peace with the Lord and Savior.

Jo M. Giltrap, 49, of 645 Ashton Place NE, died Thursday, December 20, 2001, in University Hospital in Iowa City following a short battle with cancer. Services at 9 AM Monday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Kenneth Ornell of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday and at the chapel after 8:30 AM on Monday.
Survivors include her daughter Danielle Bentley and husband Brian of Cedar Rapids, her mother Cleo Giltrap of Cedar Rapids, a sister Jane Giltrap of LeClaire, Iowa, two brothers Ray Giltrap of Columbia, Missouri, and Marv Giltrap of Ft. Worth, Texas, and two grandchildren, Cameron and Tanner Bentley. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Giltrap.
Jo was born October 14, 1952, in Cedar Rapids to Donald and Cleo Van Fossen Giltrap. She graduated from Washington High School in 1970. She was a self-employed transcriptionist. She enjoyed country music and wrote music and poetry and compiled cookbooks.
A memorial fund has been established.

August 'Augie' Gureno, 61, of 4435 Westchester Dr N.E., died Sunday April 28, 2002 in his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday at St Matthew Catholic Church. Burial: Private. The Rev. Mark Osterhaus will officiate. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where a wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann, his children, Molly Rooney and husband Mike of Cedar Rapids, Kelly Mumaw of Cedar Rapids and Mark Mumaw of Coggon, Augie Gureno and wife Stephanie of Aurora, Il, and Joe Gureno of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Mary Jo Randall of Solon and Judy Glassgow and husband Bill of Huntley, Il, 5 grandchildren, Jack and Josie Rooney, Remy and McKenna Mumaw and Kaitlyn Gureno.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Augie was born in Cedar Rapids, the son of August Gureno and Josephine Scolaro Gureno. He married
Mary Ann Giblin on February 17, 1968 in Cedar Rapids. Augie was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He initially taught and coached at Regis High School in Cedar Rapids. For the past 30 years he worked in the financial Investment field, most recently as Vice President/Investments of A.G. Edwards and Sons. Augie will be missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, humor and his yearly Christmas letters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an older sister.
Doris was born November 15, 1934 in Miami county, Kansas to Melville and Viola Ward Endecott. She married
Don Jerome. They Divorced. She then married
Warren H. Carper on October 2, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died October 31, 1979. She then married
Norman Grimm in Cedar Rapids. They divorced. Doris was a security officer for Burns Security. She was a member of the National Rifle Association and the 7th Day Church of God in Cedar Rapids where she played the organ and other instruments.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the National Rifle Association in her name.

Gordon E. Gilbertson: 66, of 630 Main Street in Robins, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, August 5, 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness. Services will be held Saturday, August 10 at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Kay Slocum officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and at the Church after 9 a.m. on Saturday. A reception will be held at the Cedar Memorial Family Center following the committal service. Gordon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sally Jean Gilbertson of Robins, a daughter Lorie Ann Gilbertson and special friend Keith Faulkner of Mesa, AZ, a son Greg Gilbertson and wife Andrea of Waterville, ME, a son Rick Gilbertson and wife Korby of Lincoln, NE and a daughter Sandra Gilbertson and special friend John MacEachern of Minneapolis, MN. Two sisters, Janice Lund and husband Richard of Estherville, IA and Jill Gaster and husband Carl of Cedar Rapids, IA and a brother Gary Gilbertson and wife JoeAnn of Swisher, IA. Gordon also had two grandsons he was very proud of; Grant Moody in Mesa, AZ and Trevor Gilbertson of Waterville, ME. Also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Inez Gilbertson.
Gordon was born February 8, 1936 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Earl and Inez Tukua Gilbertson. His family then relocated to Cedar Rapids in 1947 where he graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids.
Gordon began employment with Wilson/Farmstead Foods in 1955 where he was a hog buyer. He often traveled to farms to view hogs for possible purchase. After Wilson/Farmstead closed, Gordon worked with Qualex and the Corporate Express. He met Sally Byam while at one of his favorite activities, mixed bowling league. They fell in love and were married
July 25, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gordon was a 50+ year member of First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Gordon played baseball for many years in the adult leagues in Cedar Rapids. He loved to garden and fish especially at Leech Lake in Minnesota. He was also recognized for his many contributions as an AAU swimming judge in Eastern Iowa and his involvement in Kennedy Booster Club.
