Margaret Lucille Gable, 92, of Windsor, MO, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, August 26, 2005, at Bothwell Regional Hospital, Sedalia Missouri, after a short illness. Graveside services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty, by the Rev. Gary Sneller of Cedar Christian Church. Arrangements by Turner West Funeral Home.
Surviving is one daughter, Deanna Blegen of Warsaw, Missouri, and one brother John Crumbaugh of Freeport, Texas.
Also surviving is her son-in-law, Edward; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1979, son David in 1963, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

NAME Ralph N. Gordon, 78, of 2445 Hwy 13, Marion, died Friday, August 26, 2005 in Mercy Medical Center from cancer. Services at 11 AM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Michael J. Schultz will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Tuesday.
Survivors include three sons Vance and wife Wanda of Marion, Steve of Lagrange, Indiana, and Marve of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Julie Gordon of Cedar Rapids, a sister Carmen Pesek of Colorado Springs, Colorado, his companion and friend Jane Arnold of Marion, 6 grandchildren, Stephanie Herzberger, Brett, David, Blair, Tonya, and Martin Gordon, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce, and two sisters Mary Jane Koffron, and Joyce Weirenga.
Ralph was born April 10, 1927, in North Liberty, Iowa, to C. Kenneth and Mary Newman Gordon. He graduated Cum Laude from Martelle High School in 1944. He married
Joyce A. Smith on November 28, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. She died December 17, 1999. Ralph was a farmer and "Big Bull Shipper" to Chicago. Ralph and Joyce ran the Marion Bowl for many years. He also worked as a salesman until his retirement. Ralph was a member of Mecca Masonic Lodge No 523 in Coggon, and a member of the Iowa Consistory. He loved mowing the yard and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gambling, traveling, joke telling, and "talking". His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and many friends.
Ralph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Elizabeth "Betty" Groff, 77, formerly of Marion, died Thursday July 24, 2008 in Ridgecrest Health Center, Davenport, following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m until 4:00 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Groff, a daughter, Carolyn A. Waugh and husband David of Davenport, a brother, David Mitchell and wife Madeline of Solon, two grandsons, Heath Holub and wife Jennifer of Mt. Vernon and Beau Holub and wife Allison of Tipton and 5 great grandchildren, Lincoln, Zatyk, Landon, Gage and Ethan.
Her parents, a sister, Ann Toms and a nephew, Trenton Toms preceded her in death.
Elizabeth was born April 11, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of James and Anna Mercer Mitchell She married
James D. Groff on May 20, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. Elizabeth worked for National Oats Company in Cedar Rapids for 18 years. Her joy in life was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.

James Dale Goetzinger, 69, 2052 49th Street Marion formerly of Hiawatha went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Manor Care following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Deacon Al Scharosch will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Surviving in addition to his wife Janice are four daughters, Teresa Wiener of Alexandria, VA, Mary Goetzinger Mike Faurot of Universal City, TX, Paula Goetzinger Ed Lynch of Iowa City and Dana Lindsey-Ballas Eric Ballas of Hiawatha; six grandchildren, Anthony and Christian Lindsey, Bryce and Cameron Lynch, Solomon Wiener, and Kelsey Ballas; three sisters, Betty Conrad of Delhi, Sharon Daniels of Bagley, WI and Marge Tuthill of Dubuque; two brothers, Darrell Goetzinger of Marion and Gene Goetzinger of Graf; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo John and Robert Goetzinger; and two sisters, Linda Berger and Geraldine Fleming.
James was born November 30, 1938 in Graf the son of Leo and Magdalene Mohr Goetzinger. He attended a one room school house in Graf through the 8th grade. He married
Janice Marie Young on November 24, 1960 in Dubuque. James was a signal maintainer for Chicago Great Western Railroad, he worked at Farmstead as an electrician and then Linn-Mar Schools in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Before his illness robbed him of his strength, James loved to fish, garden, travel with his family in the camper and spend time with his grandchildren. He was an all around handyman in the house and with the car and was a great storyteller of his railroad days.

Jamie Dale Gerdts, 38, of 1655 Ellis Blvd. NW, died at St. Luke's Hospital on Sunday, June 29, 2008. Memorial Services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Barbara Schlachter. A gathering will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include his wife and soulmate, Sherry; his son, Thomas at home; a brother, Darren Gerdts of Marshalltown; parents, Dale and Ann Gerdts of Walker; his In-Laws, Peg and Charlie Greene and Mike Jagielski, all of Cedar Rapids; grandmother and aunt, Joan Maschek and Carole Moore, both of New Zealand; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Jagielski and his daughter, Courtney, of Cedar Rapids; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jamie was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vivian Loulow.
Jamie was born on May 8, 1970 in Biloxi, MS to Dale and Ann Gerdts. He graduated from Alburnett High School. He married
Sherry Jagielski on August 9, 1997 in Cedar Rapids. He was a technician for Camden Amusement. Jamie was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Hawkeye Area Grand Gaelic Isles Society Haggis. He loved hill climbing with his motorcycle and playing drums. Jamie was known for his infectious smile and laugh. He was the love of Sherry's life and was so proud of his son Thomas and all his accomplishments; especially skateboarding. Jamie was an active parent in Thomas' skateboarding group and was known as a favorite skateboarding "Dad". He gave his all to family and friends and was known for his big heart – in life and in death, as he was an organ donor. Jamie will be missed by all who knew him.

Laura A. Gallup

Laura A. Gallup, 78, of 2945 26th Ave. in Marion died Wednesday March 12, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The casket will be closed at all times. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Marciene Denny Thompson of DeForest, WI. and Sandra Gallup of Marion, her brothers and sisters; Marriam Robert Gregory, Thomas Marilyn Jones, Michael Ronnie Jones and Kristine Jones. She is also survived by her granddaughters and great grandchildren; Miel Duane Barman of Sun Prairie, WI. and their children, Chad, Drew, Karissa, and Jocelyn and Marnie Tony Cowling of Cross Plains, WI., and their children Kyle and Katie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister at birth.
Laura was born on Jan. 18, 1930 in Keokuk, the daughter of Thomas and Amelia Davis Jones. She married
Dale O. Gallup on May 28, 1947 in Davenport. He died in 1991. Laura was a homemaker and a member of Marion American Legion Post 298 Auxiliary.
Laura and Dale had many happy years together and spent much of their time camping. Theirs was a special love. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Laura's love will live in our hearts forever. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of St. Luke's in Laura's name.
Vera Ann Grow

Vera A. Grow, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died March 12, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Funeral Services will take place 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Survivors include her husband Bill; daughter Jill Runde Voss and husband Tom Voss of Hiawatha; son Scott Grow and wife Jolene of Arvada, Colorado; and grandchildren Billy Grow of Dillon, Colorado, Elise Runde Voss of Iowa City, and Madison and Derrick Voss of Hiawatha.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Marie Vitek, and son-in-law Loren Runde.
Vera A. Grow was born March 6, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Joseph and Marie Jerabek Vitek. She graduated from Franklin High School in January of 1950. She was united in marriage to William E. Grow on December 23, 1951 in Cedar Rapids. She was co-owner and operator of Bill Grow TV, with her husband, from 1953 to 1992. She was an avid bowler, and for many years was on a bowling league at Jubilee Lanes. She often spent time with family and friends at Lake Delhi where she enjoyed sunbathing and boating. She greatly enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, and will be fondly remembered for her enjoyment at the slots. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She had a great affinity for hummingbirds and found peace in watching them. She also collected hummingbird statues. Above all she was a woman who most treasured her time with her family, and the great joy they brought to her life. She will forever be missed by those whom she has left to grieve her loss.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Higley Mansion and Cottage Grove Place for the excellent care and compassion they have shown to the family. They also would like to thank all of the family from Omaha, Nancy and Paul Jerabek, Don Grow, Joanne Holmes and Pat and Bill Bilsland for all of their support, thoughtfulness, and help they have given to the family. They will forever be remembered for all that they have done.
