Donald Warren Gerard, 76, of 2901 J St SW, died Saturday March 8, 2008 in his home from a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and after 12:00 p.m. at the chapel on Wednesday. .
Born November 25, 1931 near Millersburg to Bessie and Newt Gerard. He graduated from Millersburg High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Dorris Prell on June 17, 1953 in Macon, Missouri. He was employed at Amana Refrigeration from 1955-1966, and at Rockwell Goss from 1966-1996. After his retirement he worked at the Cedar Rapids Municipal Airport for 3 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Dorris, his daughters, Chris Boyett of Reno, Nevada, Jan Martin Appleton of Marion, Lorrie Brian Towle of Van Horne, Carole Ortiz of Cedar Rapids, Robin Robby Neece of Amarillo, Texas, special daughter, Becky Holmes of Cedar Rapids, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 sisters, Doris, Betty, Joan, Velma, a brother, Melvin and brother in law, David Lila Prell. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and his dog, Elke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Opal and Dorothy and a granddaughter, Jenna Ortiz.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.

Louise Adele Greco
Born in Delta, Iowa on September 22, 1923

Louise Greco, 84, of 1960 B Avenue NE, died at Mercy Medical Center, Sunday, January 13, 2008, after a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Osterhaus. Entombment: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Leo; her children and grandchildren, Larry Judy Greco of Solon and children, Benjamin Jenny Greco of Champaign, IL, and Andrew Sandra Greco of Cedar Rapids, Linda Michael Greco-Sanders of Denver, CO, Lou Ann Frank Heng of Willmar, MN and children, Dan and Kati, Lisa Jeff Rehman of Cedar Rapids and children Alex and Leo, and Lance Liesa Greco of Cedar Rapids and children Callista, Gabriel, and Asa.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bruce Dugger; and a nephew, James Dugger.

Louise Adele Greco was born on September 22, 1923 in Delta, Iowa to Dwight and Marie Dugger. She grew up in Oran, Iowa and graduated from Oran High School as class valedictorian in 1940. She graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines and worked as a secretary for the Chicago Great Western Railroad in Oelwein. She was united in marriage to Leo Greco on August 5, 1945 at Sacred Heart Rectory in Oelwein. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1945.

Louise was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and the St. Bernadette Circle, Mended Hearts Inc., and a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed water aerobics with her many friends at Bender Pool.

The epitome of love, Louise's life was one of total devotion to her husband and family. Countless people were fortunate to receive the warmth she served around her kitchen table. Nana to her grandchildren, hugs, kisses, and chocolate oatmeal cookies were but a few of the ways she showed her love.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Tim Sagers and his staff; Dr. David Rater, and the nursing staff at Mercy Medical Center and the Intensive Care Unit for all the loving and respectful care given to Louise.

Donations may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church or Camp Courageous of Iowa.

William Godber
Born in Wellman, Iowa on October 4, 1926

William "Bill" Burton Godber, 81, of 3807B Lexington Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday night, Dec. 13, 2007, in his home after a long illness. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Private Family Services will be held Tuesday by the Rev. James Luders. Burial: Wednesday, Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill was born Oct. 4, 1926, at home in rural Wellman, Iowa, to Oliver and Vida Godber.

The youngest of seven children, he graduated from Wellman High School in 1944.

Following graduation from high school he was among 200 17-year-olds to participate in the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program at Coe College. The program was discontinued following the war's end in 1945. Bill then attended Iowa State University for a year. On June 12, 1948, he married Joan Kraft in Wellman.

This year they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

The couple moved to Freeport, Ill., where Bill worked for the Brown Shoe Co.

He continued working for the company in subsequent moves to Norfolk, Va., and Elmhurst, Ill. When they returned to Freeport, Bill started working for Bob Zimmerman which eventually brought them to Cedar Rapids and employment with Bob Zimmerman Ford. Bill continued repairing and selling cars as a self-employed businessman until retiring in 1995.

Bill enjoyed camping. In the early years, with children, Bill and Joan would spend many weekends camping in Wisconsin. As their children grew up, camping trips were taken across the country. He liked music. He also liked sports, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals when he was young, and watching Sunday football on television.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joan; their children, Ann Abbott Gabe of Beloit, Wis., John Godber of Las Vegas, Nev., and Steve Cathy Godber, Susan Moenck and David Godber, all of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Mike Abbott, Brooke Hurt, Emilly Davis, Jessie and Matt Thompson and Shane and Dylan Moenck; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, LeiAni and Marcus; one sister, Lucille Lattig of Lakeland, Fla.; nieces and nephews; and members of Joan's family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tom; four sisters and a brother.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to St. Luke's Hospice, especially Carol, Peggy, Kim and Jim.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Luke's Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association.

Evelyn Bertha Graham
Born in Fort Madison, Iowa on September 25, 1919

Evelyn Bertha Graham, 88, of Marion, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 27, 2007, after three courageous battles with breast cancer. Services at 11 AM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home where friends may call after 10 AM on Wed. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, John M. Graham, Bert N. Graham Jr. and his wife Jean, four grandchildren, Jenny Hayes Marcus, Kimberly Graham, Shawn Graham Alison, and Scott Graham, two great grandchildren, Cain Hayes and Kourtney Graham. Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bert N. Graham Sr., sister, Rachel Wray and brothers, John and Floyd Marsh.
Evelyn was born on Sept. 25, 1919 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Johnny and Helen Marsh. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1937. She married Bert N. Graham Sr. on March 7, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, and celebrated 62 years of marriage before Bert's passing. Evelyn worked for Cargill Inc., later managed the Linn Blvd. Grocery, and the Grandview Apartment Complex. As a charter member of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Evelyn taught Sunday School, and attended services for over seventy years. Evelyn toured the U.S. and Europe with Bert, also enjoyed gardening, and especially time spent with her friends and beloved family.
Evelyn and her family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Timothy Winters for the loving care he provided Bert and Evelyn through their final years.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, or St. Luke's Hospice in Evelyn's name.

Donna I. Greve, 73, of 807 5th St. in Charles City formerly of Clarksville and Cedar Rapids died Tuesday Oct. 23, 2007 at the Cedar Health Nursing Home in Charles City after a long illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include two brothers, Rex Joan Knapp and Jim Roberta Knapp all of Clarksville. She is also survived by 2 nephews 3 great nephews and 3 nieces.
Donna was born on Dec. 15, 1933 in Clarksville, the daughter of Donald and Norma Konarske Knapp. She married Keith E. Greve on Oct. 13, 1958 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1999. Donna was a bookkeeper at Waterhouse Water Systems and retired from there after several years of service. She and her husband enjoyed their cabin, auto races and time spent with her family especially her nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Donna's name.
