Duane H. "Gus" Gustafson, 83, 800 Staub Ct. NE died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at his home following a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Military Rites by the American Legion Hanford Post #5. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. The Rev. Mark Osterhaus will officiate.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy M. Keeney Doug of Center Point; three sons, Mark E. Gustafson Julie of St. Charles, Missouri, Gary A. Gustafson of Robins and Jeff L. Gustafson Barb of Norfolk, Nebraska; and five grandchildren, Scott, Jason and Ben Keeney, Jennifer Gustafson, and Zach Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice in 1989; a grandson, Drew Gustafson; two sisters; and one brother.
Duane was born January 22, 1924 in Jackson County, Minnesota the son of David and Selma Carlson Gustafson. He married
Alice M. Rynda on September 24, 1949 in New Prague, Minnesota. Duane was an engineering technician at Rockwell Collins for 38 years. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, the American Legion Hanford Post #5, V.F.W. Post #788, and the Holy Name Society. He was a Minister of Hospitality at St. Matthews Catholic Church for several years. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society.
Twylla Fern Garrett

Twylla "Fern" Garrett, 92, of Northbrook Manor died there on Sat. Sept. 8, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Gary Sneller will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include a son, Ron and his wife, Nadine of Cedar Rapids and a daughter, Patricia Garrett Watson and her husband, Larry of Grandview. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jake Brandy Watson, Jeanne Marc Merchant, Patrick Stacey Garrett and Brent Wilson; five great grandchildren, Jory Ashley Garrett, Bryce and Nathan Merchant and Casey and Ty Garrett and two great great grandchildren, Jory Jr. and A.J. Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents and an uncle, Garfield Hill, who cared for her after her parents died.
Fern was born on Oct. 8, 1914 and graduated from Washington High School and later from the Cedar Rapids Business School. She married
Garold Garrett on Oct. 5, 1940 in Des Moines. He died in 1986. Fern was an executive secretary at Sears in the credit dept. and retired from there after more than 45 years of service.
Fern was a member of Cedar Christian Church, Royal Neighbors, Eastern Star and the Cedar Rapids Business Women. She enjoyed travel, baking, especially her famous Christmas cookies, flower gardening and time spent with her beloved family. Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Fern's name.
Albert T. Gravelie

Albert T. Gravelie, 90 of 1300 13th St. N.W., Greenwood Terrace, Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, died July 11, 2007, after a short illness. Services at 11 AM Saturday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Herbert Isenberg officiating. Private family burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include: Wife Grace R. Gravelie, a son Scott T. Gravelie and wife Ellen R. Gravelie and a grandson J.T. Gravelie, all of Ada, Michigan; a sister Janet Gilchrist, of Laconia, New Hampshire; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mabel Joy Prusia Gravelie, his brother John B. Gravelie, and his sister Marian Berry.
Albert was born September 27, 1916, in Mason City, Iowa, to John A. and Bertine Gravelie. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1934; from Mason City Junior College in 1937; and from the University of Illinois School of Commerce in August, 1942. He was drafted into the U.S. Army October 19, 1942; commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant from Officer Candidate School, University of Florida, May 20, 1942; and discharged with the rank of Captain September 27, 1947.
After his discharge he enrolled in the University of Iowa College of Law. He graduated in 1952. He married
Mabel Joy Mibbs Prusia March 24, 1951. They were married
48 years before her death May 31, 1999.
He was employed by Collins Radio Company in the Industrial Relations Department from June, 1952 to June, 1956. He then joined the law firm of Lawrence and Crissman. For several years he was an associate attorney with the law firm Nazette, Marner, Wendt, Knoll and Usher, LLP. He retired from the practice of law January 1, 2001.
Mr. Gravelie was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, The Linn County Bar Association, Westminster Presbyterian Church, downtown Cedar Rapids Kiwanis Club, Elmcrest Country Club, and American Legion Post No. 5.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, the downtown Kiwanis Club, or the St. Luke's Hospital Foundation.

Elna A. Graf, 89, of Hiawatha died June 3, 2007 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. Funeral Services 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Hope United Church of Christ, Hiawatha. Rev. Fritz Mellberg will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include daughter Sharon Danek of Cedar Rapids; daughter Marjean James West of Lake Havasu City, AZ; son Craig Graf of Stanwood and his friend Karen Faber of Dyersville, Iowa; sister Verda Freese of Clarence; brother Lester Rix and wife Ruth of Olin; sister Arlene Krafock and husband Bricen of Clarence; grandson Mark D. Zalesky and fiancee' Christina Kleiser of Knoxville, TN; grandson Christopher W. Graf of Los Angeles, CA; grand daughter Renee L. Zalesky of Riverside, RI; grandson Brian L. Graf and wife Misty of Hiawatha; granddaughter Robin L. Danek and friend Steve Templeton of Iowa City; and three great grandchildren Matthew, Dillon, and Cassandra.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Alma Rix, and husband Clifford on May 11, 1987.
Elna A. Graf was born August 22, 1917 in Lowden, Iowa the beloved daughter of Paul H. and Alma Goldsmith Rix. She was united in marriage to Clifford H. Graf on June 16, 1942 in Clarence, Iowa. She and her husband owned and operated their farm for over 20 years outside of Anamosa, prior to moving to Hiawatha. She was employed at Sears and Roebuck Co. at Lindale Mall for several years, and retired in 1981. Before her retirement she was employed in the Hardware Department. She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ, New Encounters, Widow and Widowers, YEUS, and Church Women United. She greatly enjoyed dancing and tending to her garden that was full of life. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations in Elna's honor may be made to Hope United Church of Christ, or to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.

Thomas A. Gamsky, 77, of 415 Liberty Drive SE, died at Mercy Medical Center, Tuesday, May 29, 2007, as a result of pneumonia. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Osterhaus. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his wife Patt of 44 years; twin daughters, Ann Ed Fuxa of Omaha, NE and Jan Mike Hessman of Cedar Rapids; 7 grandchildren, David, Frannie, Kathryn, and Kyle Fuxa, and Cara, Liz, and Kate Hessman; a brother, Jack Theresa Gamsky of Wauwatosa, WI; and several nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betty Schultz.
Thomas was born on October 26, 1929 in Racine, WI to Arthur and Margaret Gamsky. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. He married
Patt Wilson in Cedar Rapids on June 30, 1962. Thomas was a manufacturers' representative for Anaconda American Brass for 23 years and then established his own business, T.A. Gamsky Sales.
Thomas was a United States Marine, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, Hanford Post #5; St. Matthew Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Thomas will be remembered for his love of golf and fishing. Poppy loved playing with his grandchildren.
