Ruth E. Geiger, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Saturday, October 10, 2009. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William Harnish. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivor include daughters, Cherry (Ron) McGuire of Olin and Brenda (Harry) Christensen, and Beth (Ron) Herrick, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Shelly (Kurt) Enke, Dawn (Paul) Rancourt, Forrest (Miyako) DenLinden, Mike (Sheila) McGuire, Rick (Tiana) McGuire, Joanna (Jeremy) Moser, Lisa (Jim Pawledge) Burns, Jim (Irene) Herrick, Jason (Val) Christensen, Darrin Christensen, Larry (Ann) Geiger, and Chris (Heidi) Geiger; and twenty great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson; and their son and his wife, Larry and Babe Geiger.
Ruth was born January 2, 1918 in Millersburg to L.C. and Sadie Bean. After graduation, she worked as a maid for Brucemore’s butler. She married
Nelson Geiger in Kirksville, MO on January 5, 1938. He died in 1987 and was dearly missed. She was an independent woman, still living in her own home. She loved to garden, play cards, and travel. She had been employed at Bezdeks Florist for over 20 years before retiring.
Rebecca Margaret Green

R. Margaret Green, 88, of 521 36th St. SE. died Wednesday Oct. 7, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. A Funeral Mass by All Saints Catholic Church will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church by Rev. David O’Connor. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Matthews after 9:00 AM on Saturday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a step-son James (Linda) of Palm Harbor, Florida and two step-daughters, Barbara (Brian) Gunderson of Tustin, California and Peggy (Gary) Bibby of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Harriett Beatty of Shellsburg. She is also survived by step-grandchildren, Lisa and Kim Gunderson, Sarah Lawson, Shawn Green, Casey and Tom Bibby and three step- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Russell, Lewis, Robert, Lawrence, and John Lubbock, and two sisters, Katherine Garmer and Helen Maxwell.
Margaret was born April 13, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Myron and Margaret Hall Lubbock. She married
James L. Green on June 18, 1960 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1986. Margaret worked in the accounting department at Penick & Ford and retired from there after 30 years of service. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Margaret took great pride in her yard, flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed college basketball, the Iowa Hawkeyes and her pet cat Missy.
Memorial donations may be given to the All Saints Building Fund in Margaret’s name.
Patricia Ann Groe

** Patricia A. “Trish” Groe, 44, of 90 Cherry Hill Rd. NW died Friday Sept. 25, 2009, the result of a motorcycle accident near Shellsburg in rural Benton County. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and her significant other, Brian Lynch.
Trish worked at Wal-Mart for several years and enjoyed playing softball and spending time with friends.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Phyllis Maxine Griggs

Phyllis M. Griggs, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died July 31, 2009 at West Ridge Care Center following a long illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Ed Powers of Asbury United Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment will immediately follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter Susan Rudd and husband Tracy of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Travis Rudd of Iowa City, and Cassandra Rudd of Cedar Rapids; and a sister in law Edna Mae Budde of Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Richard.
Phyllis Maxine Griggs was born February 24, 1918 in Chelsea, Iowa the beloved daughter of Edward R. and Ella C. (Weaver) Budde. She married
Earl A. Griggs on September 20, 1942 in Cedar Rapids; he preceded her in death in 2003. Throughout her life she worked mainly in her home caring for her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and was a talented seamstress. She was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, and grandmother who will forever be remembered for devotion to her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Phyllis’ name are made to St. Luke’s Hospice.
Douglas L. Goettsch

Douglas L. Goettsch, 49, of 5961 29th Ave. Dr in Vinton died Tuesday July 28, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a courageous battle with cancer. Private family memorial services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.
Survivors include his mother, Laurel (Larry), companion, Karla, sons (Joe, Lane, and Ridge), brother, Donald Jr. (Panda), sister, Lori (Scott) and good friend, Roger Beck (Sandy), nieces and nephews, Aaron, Kierstyn, Nikki, Brett, Chrissy, Amber and Carrie. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and aunts and uncles.
Doug was born on May 16, 1960 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donald and Laurel Mordick Goettsch. Doug worked in many area body shops and owned Body and Paint by Goettsch in rural Shellsburg. He loved his special years with Ridge, the outdoors, his horses and was an artist with his auto body repair and painting of cars.
Doug leaves a loving family and many friends who will miss him very much. A memorial fund has been established and may be sent to 1632 26th St. NW Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405

Maxine A. Gegenheimer, 88, of 967 Bridget Lane SE, died July 27, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her three daughters Jeannine (Gary) Evilsizer of Cedar Rapids, Dianne (Paul) Herring of Columbus Junction and Georgene (David) Lopata of Walker; brothers Eugene and Wayne; sisters Geneva, Marguerite, Ruth, Delores, and Elaine; 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, parents, brother Edwin, sister Dorothy, and great granddaughter Morgan Reves.
Maxine was born April 18, 1921, in West Branch, the daughter of Alfred and Grace (Schneider) Blount. She married
George W. Gegenheimer on September 3, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. Maxine was employed in retail sales for Killian’s Department Store from 1955 – 1980, while farming with her husband for several years near Oxford, Troy Mills, and Alburnett. Maxine and George lived in Marion, and later moved to Port Charlotte, FL, before returning to Cedar Rapids. Maxine enjoyed making quilts for her family and playing cards. Above all her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family.
Memorial donations in Maxine’s honor may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, or to The Mercy Medical Center Foundation.
