Georgia L. Glaus, 89, of 23004 Antler Trail in Anamosa, formerly of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday July 1, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Memorial services at 3:00 PM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Georgia donated her body to the University of Iowa for medical research. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheryle (Richard) Griffith of Anamosa, and Mary Rae (Don) Vinson of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Kenneth (Marilyn) Glaus of Cedar Rapids, Ronald (Paulette) Glaus of Birmingham, Kevin Glaus of Cedar Rapids and one sister, Rita of Clinton. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Thomas and 10 brothers and sisters.
Georgia was born on January 16, 1920 in Waukon, the daughter of Hershel and Julia Williams Stone. She married
Leslie J. Glaus. He died in 1991. Georgia enjoyed gardening, fishing, board games going to the casino and especially time spent with her beloved family. Memorial donations may be given to St. Luke's Hospice.

Charlotte M. Roed Glynn, 91, of 2903 F Ave. NW died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at her home after a brief illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Bob Voels will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia (Larry) Crock of Bailey’s Harbor, Wisconsin, a son, Mark Clark of Cedar Rapids, a step daughter, Crystal (Robert) Haddad of Freeport, Illinois, sister-in-law, Mary Roed of Mankato, Minnesota, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two nieces, three nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a sister, Ione Roed Sampson and a brother, Verland (Dusty) Roed.
Charlotte was born on July 15, 1917 in Alexander, Iowa, the daughter of Jens and Minnie Bohlen Roed. She married
Robert Clark in 1946 in Hampton. He died in 1965. She later married
Leon Glynn in 1982 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2005. Charlotte worked at Pennick& Ford and as a secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church for 18 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a former member of Mizpak Circle King’s Daughters, The El Kahir Shrine Auxiliary and the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary # 193. Some of her interests were sewing, doing church visitations, reading, walking and traveling. Memorial donations may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte’s name.

Nancy “Jo” Good, 48, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Des Moines, IA after a sudden illness. She was surrounded by her family and friends at the time of her death. Memorial mass will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM followed by a time of sharing memories of Jo’s life. Friends may also call after 9AM on Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Surviving are her sisters Lori Good of Houston, TX, Diane Thome and husband George of Appleton, WI, and Barb Lang and husband Steven of Clive, Iowa; a brother Greg Good of Chicago, IL; nieces and nephews Nichole Brecht of West Des Moines, Michelle and Jason Lang both of Clive, and Ryan, Mallory and Marisa Thome all of Appleton, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jo was born June 19, 1960 in Dixon, IL the daughter of John Thomas and Marjorie Rose (Morrissey) Good. She was a manager at Verizon Buisiness. Jo was competitive at everything she did; focused, driven, but with an attitude of fun and fair play. Jo was a lover of life, family and friends. Jo enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and “Da Bears”.

Cora A. Gettings, 100, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Ottumwa died Monday April 27, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial mass: 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Mercy Medical Center Chapel. Rev. James Blocklinger will officiate. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday where there will be a rosary at 6:30 PM and vigil service at 8:00 PM by Rev. David O’Connor. There will also be a funeral mass at St. Mary Of The Visitation in Ottumwa on Friday at 10:30 AM. Rev. Ron Young and Rev. Bernard Weir will officiate. Friends may call at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM where there will be a rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Ottumwa.
Survivors include a son, Paul Gettings of Ottumwa and a daughter, Mary Pauline Hook of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jerry, Tom, John, Mona, Mark, Trent, Josh, Mike, Pat, Deb and Jim, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, a daughter-in-law, Sally Gettings and a son-in-law, Robert Hook . Cora was born on May 3, 1908 in Andalusia, Illinois, the daughter of Phillip and Hannah Nitz Blomme. She married
Lewis H. Gettings on Nov. 3, 1931 in Ottumwa. He died in 1980. Cora was a member of St. Mary Of The Visitation in Ottumwa and a member of their quilters club. She attended All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and gardening. Cora was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who was very proud of her family and loved them very much.

Irene E. Grill, 93, a resident of Bickford Cottage, was called by the Lord into his presence on April 6, 2009. Funeral Mass will take place 9:30 AM on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Christopher Podhajsky will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
Survivors include her daughter Theresa Trebes of Marion; nieces and nephews Joan Richards of Fallon, NV, Jim (Carmen) Schablitsky of Lakeville, MN, Duane (Marlene) Ramsay of Las Vegas, NV, Mike (Jannine) Matthews of Tucson, AZ, and Cheryl (Rod) Todd of St. Paul, MN; numerous great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Bubba.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Irene Elsie Grill was born June 17, 1915 in Faribault, MN the daughter of Joseph and Lousie (Paquett) Schablitzky. She was employed at the woolen mills in Faribault, and later in food service at La Salle High School in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was involved with some in the women’s clubs at the church.
The family would like to extend special thanks to friends John and Vivian Herde, and Rita Holmes who were there for her when she needed them the most, and to the wonderful staff at Bickford Cottage for their care to Irene.
Memorial donations in Irene’s honor may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, or to the Animal Welfare Foundation of Iowa.

Andrew J. Gunderson: 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday afternoon, January 22 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Rev. Randy Bobzien of the First Baptist Church in Marion officiating. Entombment will take place in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 today and at the chapel after 12:30 on Monday. Andrew is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn, a special niece Kathryn Sellers of Henderson, Nevada, nieces Betty Draker and husband Charles of Cedar Rapids and Rose Block of Marion, and great nephews, Brad Sellers and Richard Sellers and a great niece Roberta Sellers and several other nieces and nephews. Andrew was preceded in death by 4 sisters.
Andrew was born February 3, 1916 in Springville, Iowa, the son of Steven and Alma (Jorgenson) Gunderson. He briefly attended Coe College but was called back to the family farm at a young age due to his father’s illness. Andrew married
Evelyn Seilhamer on March 13, 1948 in Marion, Iowa. Andrew farmed most of his life near Springville, Iowa. He was a dedicated steward of the land and worked hard to provide for his wife and family.
Raymond E. Glasgow

Raymond E. Glasgow, 91, of 4481 Vasey Avenue, Marion, died at Mercy Medical Center, Wednesday, January 21, 2009, after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Military services will be by the National Guard . Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include two sons, Rex Glasgow of Marion and Russ (Jackie) Glasgow of Canon City, CO; two grandsons, Aaron and Nathan; and sister, Joan Furgason of Washington who is the last surviving of seven siblings.
Ray was born on June 14, 1917 in Washington, Iowa to Ambrose and Opal Glasgow. He married
Rosella Sheets there on November 14, 1945. She died in 2007. Ray was a self-employed union carpenter, retiring in 1997. Ray was an Army veteran of WWII and awarded three Bronze Stars for his involvement in the Battle of The Bulge, Normandy Invasion, and the Liberation of France. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.
