Regina Pfiffner Hellwig, 93, a resident of Hiawatha Care Center died Thursday August 29, 2002 in Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church, by the Rev. David O'Connor. Burial: Mt Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Turner West Funeral Home today from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where a wake service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
She was born July 17, 1909 at Guttenburg, the daughter Gustav and Augusta Thamann Pfiffner. Regina was a charter member of All Saints Catholic Church where she was active until a few years ago when she moved from her home on Beaver Ave to a retirement home. She worked for and was manager of the hot lunch program at All Saints School for 23 years and a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for many years.
Her husband of 50 years, Edwin L. Hellwig, died March 22, 1980. She was also preceded in death by 9 brothers and 3 sisters.
Regina is survivied by 2 daughters, Marilyn Hagan Vernon of Hiawatha and Barbara Wyatt Bob of Cedar Rapids, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Good bye Nanny until we see you again. We Love You.

Mildred E. Hilmer, 84, of 1235 A Ave, Marion, died Friday, October 25, 2002, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services at 10:30 AM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Randy S. Bobzien of First Baptist Church in Marion will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 10 AM on Tuesday.
Survivors include her husband Eldo, a son Keith of Simi Valley, California, a daughter Phyllis Spence, and a brother Ray Teter of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer Christensen of Littleton, Colorado, Mike Hilmer of Louisville, Kentucky, and Sara Mooney of Albany, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Hazel Bittle.
Mildred was born August 10, 1918 in Jasper, Michigan to Jason and Jessie Sohner Teter.
She married
Eldo E. Hilmer on May 26, 1940 in Marion. Prior to her marriage she taught for three years including 4th and 5th grade at Emerson Grade School in Marion in 1938 and 1939. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion for over 60 years.

Walter D. Henecke, 89, of the Keystone Care Center, formerly of Cedar Rapids died at the Care Center on Wed. Nov. 13, 2002 after a short illness. Services at 3 PM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the Chapel after 2 PM on Friday.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Eye and husband, Jack, of Palo, two sisters, Alta Blood of Cedar Rapids, Edna Stratton of Hiawatha, a bother, Harold and a daughter in law, Betty Henecke both of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, David, Michael, Cynthia, Lynn, Chris, Susan, John, Jesse, Greg and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, JoAnn, a son, Donald and two brothers, LeRoy and Paul.
Walter was born on June 29, 1913 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ernest and Buelah McArthur Henecke. He married
Evelyn J. Myers in 1934 in Iowa City. She died in 1973. Walter worked at Penick & Ford for 40 years retiring in 1975. He later worked at Bruce McGrath. Walter was a member of the Izaak Walton League, the NRA and the Millwright Union. He was an avid fan of stock car racing at Hawkeye Downs and enjoyed watching his grandson, John Henecke race. Walter was honored as the 'No. 1 Race Fan of the Year in 1988. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and his visits to the western states, especially Wyoming. He was also known for his mushroom hunting. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Izaak Walton League in Walter's name. The Henecke family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at the Keystone Care Center.

Woodrow W. 'Woody' Huff, 72, of 3227 Soutter Ave SE, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, died Friday, December 6, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center following a lingering illness. Services at 3 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Gary Sneller of Cedar Christian Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Monday.
Survivors include his wife Marie, a daughter Donna Lynn Huff of Cedar Rapids, a son Woodrow W. 'Woody' Huff Jr of Louisville, Kentucky, a brother Victory Fred 'Happy' Huff and wife Betty of Louisville, Kentucky, two sisters Doris Jean Cooksey and husband Ed, who Woody was especially close to, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Betty Lou Graham and husband Paul of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Edward Allen Huff, a brother John W. Huff Jr., and two half brothers Jack and Joe Davis.
Woody was born March 1, 1930 in Louisville, Kentucky to John W. and Gertrude Doris Burns Huff. He married
A. Marie McGuire on December 7, 1957 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He worked in the machine shop at Rockwell-Collins for 26 years retiring in 1988. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and in his younger years playing pinochle and the piano with his family and friends.
Woody will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arthur E. Hupfer, 85, of 2414 D Ave NE, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, in his home following a short illness. Private services will be held. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter Lisa Hupfer Hurn and husband Tom of Cedar Rapids, two sons Michael of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Dan of Cedar Rapids. 6 grandchildren, Matthew Hurn and wife Anastasia, Andrea Woodley and husband Brian, Lissa Weldon and husband Scott, Justin Hupfer and wife Amy, Jeff Hupfer, and Lucas Hurn, and three great-grandchildren Madelyn, Elizabeth, and Lute, also survived by a sister-in-law Lois Wilson, and two nephews Todd and Tim Wilson all of Elmhurst, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and a daughter Ellen Hurn.
Arthur was born September 5, 1917 in Clinton, Iowa to Arthur Emil and Edith Dillon Hupfer. He attended school in Clinton. He married
Mary Jane Downs on July 29, 1942 in Clinton. She died March 8, 1991. He served in the US Army during WW II in Africa and Italy with the 85th infantry division as a T/Sgt and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in Italy. He was employed as District Sales Manager for McKesson Drug Company for 23 years retiring in 1983. His memberships included Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge, VFW Post No 788, and Hanford American Legion Post No 5.
Arthur was a kind and gentle man. His love and care for his family was his life. He will be greatly missed by all of those he touched.

William Bill P. Hyde, 59, a missionary in the Philippines and former resident of Shellsburg, died Tuesday, March 4th in the Philippines as a result of the terrorist bombing that took place at the Davao Airport on Mindanao Island in the Philippines. Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13th at the Immanuel Baptist Church by Pastor Ed Gregory, Associate Executive Director - Mission Team Leader for the Baptist Convention of Iowa and assisted by Pastor David Miller of the Northbrook Baptist Church. Interment: Shellsburg Cemetery, Shellsburg, Iowa. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12th and at the Immanuel Baptist Church after noon on Thursday. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Hanford Post #5.
Surviving besides his wife Garlinda, are two sons, Timothy Hyde of Dallas, Texas and Steven Hyde and wife Noit of Cambodia, a sister; Barbara Brooker and husband Richard of Iowa City and a brother; J. Richard Dick Hyde and wife Judy from Chetek, Wisconsin.
Mr. Hyde was born February 3, 1944 in Cedar Rapids to John and Helen Kibbie Hyde and was married
to Garlinda Lyn Gage on June 12, 1966 at Bethany Baptist Church in Iowa City.
After graduating from high school in Shellsburg, Bill went to Upper Iowa University in Fayette and later transferred to the University of Iowa where he graduated with a BA and MA degree in music. After graduation, he taught at schools, both in Barnum and Eldora, Iowa. He later attended Golden Gate Baptist Theological School at Mill Valley, California, before he and his wife went to the Philippines as missionaries. Later, he finished his Master of Divinity degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. While in Manila, he taught music and economics for over 10 years at Faith Academy, a school for missionary children, as well as starting up new churches. They then transferred to Mindanao, where Bill was training Filipinos to start churches all across Mindanao. Bill and Garlinda Lyn have served as Baptist missionaries with the International Mission Board, SBC since 1978.
Immanuel Baptist Church was the Hyde's home church and they also maintained ties with Northbrook Baptist Church, a sister church of Immanuel.
Mr. Hyde served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68 and was in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1968.

Jean R. Hutchcroft, 87, of 4225 Westchester Dr. NE, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, in Mercy Hallmar after a struggle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday with a wake service beginning at 7 PM.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Marion, two sons Tom and wife Susan of Plano, Texas, and Gerry and wife Sue of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Mary Jo Bennetts and husband Doug of Buena Vista, Colorado, a sister Sister Mary Ray Hutchcroft of Cedar Rapids, and two brothers Francis Hutchcroft and wife Melba, and J. L. Hutchcroft and wife Bonnie all of Cedar Rapids, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Carrie Hutchcroft, a sister Dorothy Leidigh, and a brother Ervin, all of Cedar Rapids.
Jean was born February 9, 1916 in Cedar Rapids. After graduating from old Washington High School in Cedar Rapids he took printing classes from Roosevelt High. Employed at Russell's Guide for 45 years, Jean was foreman of the composing room and retired in 1980. He married
Marion Claney of Clarence, Iowa, at St. Matthews Church in Cedar Rapids on October 21, 1939. He was a member of St. Matthews Church, a former member of the typographical Union, now C.W.A. Communication, Catholic Layman, Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Cedar Rapids Harmony Hawks Chores.
He loved the outdoors, camping, traveling, golf, racquetball and dancing. Jean and Marion often wintered in south Texas. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose memories will be cherished by all.
