Darlene L. Hoeger, 75, of 714 Suburban St. NE, died Monday, September 15, 2008, at her home following a short illness. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Rev. Rodney Allers will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday with a wake service beginning at 6:30 PM, and at the church after 9:30 AM on Friday.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 47 years Marcus, three sons Douglas and wife Christine of Marion, Steven and wife Holly of Platte City, Missouri, and Gary and wife Gloria of Chariton, Iowa, a brother Darrel Andre and wife Elaine of Marion, a sister in law Adella Hoeger of Garnavillo, Iowa, seven grandchildren, Amanda, Ali, Heather, Nathan, Katie, Lucas, and Sydney, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Darlene was born May, 20, 1933 in Mechanicsville, Iowa to Norman L. "Bill" and Bertha K. McQuown Andre. She married
Marcus Hoeger on December 30, 1961, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was a medical transcriptionist at St. Luke's hospital and at the Linn County Urology. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, and especially spending time with her family.
A memorial fund has been established.
Viola Himrich

Viola Himrich, 85, of Crestview Acres died there on Tuesday Oct. 7, 2008 after a long illness. There will be a celebration of life service at the home of her daughter at 934 26th St. SE. at 1:00 PM on Saturday where friends may call from Noon until 4:00 PM. The Cremation Society of Eastern -Central -Western Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Eugene) Hansen of Cedar Rapids and two sisters, Idella Bohlander of Glenham, SD. and Virlene Knecht of Aberdeen, SD. She is also survived by two grandsons, Blake Hanson of Cedar Rapids and Craig (Danette) Hanson of Richland, Washington, three great grandchildren, Rebekah (Gavin) Fairbanks and Larissa and Jared Hanson both of Kennewick, Washington and one great great granddaughter, Naomi Fairbanks.
Viola was born on Dec. 6, 1922 in Artas, SD. the daughter of Emil and Magdalena Kost Renz. She married
Ernest Himrich on Dec. 19, 1953 in Herreid, SD. He died in 1972. She was the owner and operator of several women’s clothing stores in Spokane, Washington for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at Living Center West, Hospice of Mercy and Crestview Acres for the loving care given to Viola.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Hospice of Mercy in Viola’s name.

Robert DeWayne Hudson, 81, of 4200 Blairs Ferry Road NE, died at West Ridge Care Center, Wednesday, October 8, 2008, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William Harnish. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Memories.
Survivors include his wife, LaVonne; a daughter, Linda Sue (Clyde) Schultz of Center Point; two sons, Lynn (Cindy) Hudson of Cedar Rapids and Loni (Anneliese) Hudson of Hiawatha; four grandchildren, Angie Naylor of Harragate, England, Vicki Campbell of Michigan, Amanda Hudson of Iowa City, and David Hudson of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Carol (Virgil) Schroeder of Owatana, MN and Gloria Andreani of Richmond, VA; and two great granddaughters, Madeline and Lindsey.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Frank and Howard.
Robert was born on July 8, 1927 in Walker to Zail and Minerva Hudson. While at Franklin High School, he was a member of the Junior Air Force, graduating from Metro Trade School in Des Moines. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII. He married
LaVonne Miller on November 21, 1948 in Marion. Robert was a maintenance supervisor at Pennick and Ford and retired from ADM in 1992 as Co Gen Plant Manager. He enjoyed making things run. Robert enjoyed his two cats, “Butchie” and “Keekee” and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Eldo E. Hilmer, 90, of 5960 Kacena Avenue, Marion, died at St. Luke’s Hospital Wednesday, November 5, 2008, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, at First Baptist Church, Marion by the Rev. Randy Bobzien. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Eldo is survived by a son, Keith Hilmer, of Simi Valley, CA; a daughter, Phyllis Spence, of Arlington, VA; four sisters: Adeline Rompot and Mae Gatto, both of Cedar Rapids, and Alice Johnson of Winthrop; three brothers: Ralph Hilmer of Phoenix, AZ, Walter Hilmer of Cedar Rapids, and Marvin Hilmer of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Eldo was born June 14, 1918, in Allamakee County to Arthur and Edna Hilmer. He worked for Sanitary Farm Dairies for 21 years and for St. Luke’s Hospital for five years. Eldo was married
to Mildred Teter in Marion on May 26, 1940. She died in 2002. Eldo was a Navy veteran of WWII and an active member of First Baptist Church in Marion.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the First Baptist Church of Marion.

Louene Emelia Heitman, 81, of 4420 F Ave NE, died Thursday November 13, 2008 in Northbrook Care Center following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. T. Edwards Breed, and Vicar. Deborah Thompson. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Heitman, two sons, Steven Paul Heitman of Rockland, Michigan, Robert Wayne Heitman of Cedar Rapids, and a brother, Paul Wetzlich of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virginia Jean Witmer.
Louene was born March 16, 1927 in Dunkerton, the daughter of Louis and Elsie Strempke Wetzlich. She married
Earl E. Heitman on July 6, 1947 in Waterloo. Louene worked in sales for the Sears Company. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

Kenneth L. Hastie, 94, of 190 Cottage Grove Ave SE, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM on Friday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Saturday.
Kenneth Louie Hastie, son of Louie Hastie and Gladys Ridenour, was born November 18, 1913, on a farm in Boone County, Iowa. He attended a one-room elementary school in Angus, Iowa and graduated from Perry High School in 1932. He also attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. In 1934 he married
Louise Black in the Church of Christ in Perry. They divorced. She passed away on April 27, 2007.
Ken began his long career in the radio business during the 1930’s, the “Golden Years” of radio broadcasting. His first jobs were with stations WHO and KSO-KRNT in Des Moines. In 1935, he moved to Cedar Rapids to join WMT where he became station manager in 1959. In 1960, he served as president of the Iowa Broadcasters Association. He retired from WMT in 1976 and spent the next 11 years as manager of the Paramount building.
During his long-time residency in Cedar Rapids, Ken was actively engaged in the community. He attended the Cedar Rapids Church of Christ and later joined St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the City Planning Commission for 27 years, Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, St. Luke’s Hospital Board, the Cedar Rapids Country Club, President of the Iowa Broadcasters Assn, and President of the Cedar Rapids-Marion Chamber of Commerce in 1973. He was also a member of Mizpah Masonic Lodge and the El Kahir Shrine.
Ken married
Leona Miller on Valentine’s Day in 1987. For 21 years they have spent the winter in Naples, Fl. And have returned each spring to Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are his wife Leona Miller Hastie, a sister Verna Thompson of Indianapolis, brother Eldon (Dean) Hastie of Washington, D.C., son K. Larry Hastie and wife Ruth of Ann Arbor, Michigan, grandsons Brock Hastie of Ann Arbor, MI., and Kevin Hastie of Chicago, Il., and two great-granddaughters Callie and Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clifford Hastie of Perry.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America or to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
