Arthur R. Horsburgh, 88, formerly of Florissant, Missouri died at his daughters home, 3045 Autumn Dr in Marion on Tuesday June 16, 2009 after a short illness. Services at 3:00 PM Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Burial on Friday at 9:30 AM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife, Robbie, two daughters, Patricia McInerney of Chatham, Illinois and Suzanne (James) Halley of Marion. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas Fehrenbacher, Major Michael Halley, Michele McGuire and Angela Beaudet; and six great grandchildren, William, Catherine, Nicholas, Halley, Gannon and Paige. He was preceded in death by a brother, James.
Art was born on November 7, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of James and Elsie Burger Horsburgh. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1948. Art married
Robbie L. Nesmith on Aug. 26, 1950 in Houston, Texas. He was a chemical engineer for Shell Oil Refinery for 38 years, retiring in 1986. Art was a past member of the Lions Club, a current member of American Legion and proudly served in the Army during WWII. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history. Art and Robbie traveled the world including 14 ocean cruses. Art was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

John Louis Hoffman

John L. “Jack” Hoffman, 84, a resident of Mercy Hallmar, died Saturday, October 16, 2009. Services with military honors will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Father Karl Glovik will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter Nancy (Bill) Oddo of Atkins, Iowa, son Mark Hoffman of Christchurch, New Zealand, grandson Christopher (Anna) Oddo of Palo, Great granddaughter Sydni Maria Oddo, a sister Jean Perell of Oregon, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Winifred.
John was born February 23, 1925 in Dubuque, Iowa, to John and Louise Oberhofer Hoffman. He married
Winifred Wagner on February 4, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. She died December 23, 2007. He was an accountant and in computer operation for Iowa Electric for 30 years retiring in 1982. He served in the US Navy during WW II and was on the third ship, the USS Yarnall, entering Tokyo Bay prior to the surrender of Japan. He volunteered at Mercy Medical Center. He loved to dance for several organizations. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and fishing. In high school he participated in track and field and excelled as a pole vaulter.
Military honors provided by VFW Post No 788.

Betty Helen Harshman

Betty Helen Harshman, 88, formerly of Cedar Rapids passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 in a Tyler, Texas hospital after a brief illness. A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.. Friday June 24, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Interment will be in the Rotunda in Cedar Memorial Mausoleum.
Betty was born April 10, 1923 in Bloomington, Illinois to Pearl and Charlotte (Williamson) Enterline. She was adopted shortly after birth and raised by Avis and Lester Pierce in Dwight, Illinois where she grew up. She received her education at Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and was the Coordinator of Social Services in the Department of Planning and Urban Development for the City of Cedar Rapids for 23 years. She was long-standing secretary of Cedar Rapids Pony Club from 1968-1975. She was a member of the Cedar Rapids Women’s Executive Club. Betty always loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and any animal-guests. In 2008, she left her residence at Garnett Place in Cedar Rapids and moved permanently to Texas to the home of her daughter. She traveled frequently during that time. She particularly loved youngsters and all of God’s creatures. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Betty will greatly be missed by everyone who knew her.
Betty is survived by two daughters; Tammy (Arden) Noecker of Murchison, TX and Roxanne Harshman of Tucson, AZ, seven grandchildren, Sharon (Kelly) LeVelle of Center Point, Tracie Harshman, and Scotty Harshman of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Tiffany Noecker-Ziegler, Chicago, Adrienne Noecker-Gaston, Incirlik, Turkey, Erynn Noecker, and Deirdre Noecker, Tyler, Texas, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, a son Jerome Dean Harshman, and her parents.

Everett Hood, 86, of Marion, died June 13, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a brief illness. Graveside Services and Entombment will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. John Malone will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include son Glen Hood of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter Venus (Joseph) Jeffords of Marion; grandson Erick (Tiffany) Hood of Durant; six great-grandchildren Damian, Angelica, Christina, and Kaylyn Jeffords and Jayde and Byron Hood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse Lois Lorraine Hood, and son Byron L Hood and brother Burton Hood.
Everett Hood was born March, 03, 1925 in Massena, Iowa the son of Ira and Dolly (Porter) Hood. He married
Lois Lorraine Hood on September 1, 1946 in Atlantic. Everett was a branch manager for the Skelly Oil Company. Everett served 30 months in the Navy during World War II and was a life member of the Marion American Legion #298 and the Moose Lodge #175 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was also involved with the Cedar Rapids Eagles Club #2272. Everett enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golf, but even more, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Diana K. Holliday, 67, of Marion, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Living Center West following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 26, 2011 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the chapel after 12:30 on Tuesday. Inurnment will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
Surviving are her daughters, Stacy Rouse and husband Dan of Kingman, KS and Debra Steele and husband Craig of Ft. Worth, TX; her sister, Debbie Fields and her husband Dewayne of Marion; her life long partner, Elias “Sonny” Faust of Marion; her close friend, Donna Yanda of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
Diana Kay Holliday was born August 22, 1943 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Robert L. and Adeline F. (Harrelson) McLaud. She attended Kirkwood Community college and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She later worked at Rockwell Collins as a Production Specialist. “Lady Di”, as she was often referred too, will forever be remembered for her enjoyment of talking on the phone with friends and family, going out to dinner, movies and meeting new people. Above all, her greatest enjoyment was her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Robert Dean Hollingsworth, 53 was born on October 7th, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He passed away while sleeping peacefully in his home on August 1st, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday August 5th, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held Thursday August 4th, 2011 from 5-8pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Carter will officiate.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, James Hollingsworth; Grandmother, Edyth Simmons, as well as childhood friend, Tony Tudor.
Rob was survived by his mother, Ora Lee Hollingsworth, his daughters Nicki McAfee (Patrick) and Megan Mitchell (Justin); his four beautiful grandchildren Spencer, Shaelin, Jozlynn, and Jaxon; two siblings Dave Hollingsworth (Diane), Jean Todd (Alex) and his nieces Denell, Tarah, Natalie and Alexa and a nephew Travis; aunts, uncles and cousins as well as several dear friends including Jon Fawcett, Nancy O’Malley, Jimmy McMurray and Tiffany Bruening.
He grew up in Cedar Rapids and enjoyed spending time on his grandparent's farm in North English. He was a 1975 Kennedy High school graduate. Rob also attended truck driving school at Kirkwood Community College. He married
Cherie Hanson on June 24th, 1978. They shared 12 years together and had 2 daughters. Rob worked as a truck driver, mechanic, handyman, and care taker in his many years of hard work.
Throughout his life “Rob Dog” enjoyed being surrounded by family, friends and the great outdoors. He had a true love for music and many hobbies including fishing, deer and mushroom hunting, camping, drawing, woodworking, sculpture and teaching himself to play the harmonica and guitar. He loved more than anything talking and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
