Luella A. Hazeltine, 80, of Toddville, IA passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Crestview Acres, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memoires with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 PM Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband Gerald Hazeltine of Toddville; one brother James (Shirley) Heath of Marion; a brother-in-law Owen Strickel of Marion; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Luella was born December 21, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ralph and Flossie (Monson) Heath. She married
Gerald L. Hazeltine on August 15, 1953 in Cedar Rapids. She retired from Quaker Oats in 1991 after 41 years. After her retirement Luella enjoyed photography and spent the next decade photographing round barns in Iowa. She authored a book Barns Around Iowa, which highlighted the round barns she photographed. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Cedar Rapids.

Clark J. Haddy, 98, of the Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, IA, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, May 24, 2010 at St. George Orthodox Church by the Rev. Fred Shaheen and the Rev. Deacon Edmond Abodeely. Burial: St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at St. George Othodox Church from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Trisagion service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughters Gloria of Marengo, and Patricia of Appleton, WI; a son, Bradley of Mendota Heights, MN; a grandson Zachariah Haddy of Eden Prairie, MN; a granddaughter, Anastasia Haddy of Braintree, MA; a great granddaughter, Ariahla of Eden Prairie, MN; a brother George; a sister, Helen Brammer; a sister-in-law, Syriano Haddy all of Cedar Rapids, IA; a brother-in-law, Thomas Morrison of Helena, AL; and an aunt Lillian Haddy. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Clark was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sadie Haddy; his devoted wife of sixty-five years, Juanita; his brothers, Edward, John, Andrew, and Mike; his sisters, Mary Morrison, Josephine Skaff, and Georgina Maish; brothers-in-law, Paul Skaff and Jim Brammer; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Haddy and Marjorie Haddy.
Clark was born on October 20, 1911. He married
Juanita Ruffin on July 3, 1932, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Along with his family, he operated the Cedar Valley Dairy of Cedar Rapids for thirty-five years. Clark and Juanita became the proprietors of the Lucky Six Bowling Lanes in Marengo, IA, from 1960 to 1979.
Although he enjoyed golfing for many years, Clark’s lifelong passion was bowling, and he was an enthusiastic ambassador of this sport. He started bowling in 1930, and his accomplishments reaped many titles and awards. He was a charter member of the Cedar Rapids Bowling Hall of Fame (1976) and a member of the Iowa Bowling Hall of Fame (1983).
Clark has been a member of the American Legion Post 76, St. George Orthodox Church, Kiwanis Club, Eagles Club, and the Cedar Rapids Bowling Association.
The “little man with the big cigar” loved his family and his many friends. He enjoyed interacting with his fellow bowlers. Clark also humbly felt and appreciated other’s respect and affection.
A memorial has been established at St. George Orthodox Church, 3560 Cottage Grove Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
Darlene B. Heck

Darlene B. Heck, 70, of 706 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, in St. Luke’s Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Rev. Chuck Clark of Hoover Wesleyan Church, rural Walker, Iowa, officiating. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters Charlene (Ron) Pease and Marlene Heck all of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren, Joseph Heck, Jasmine, Rebecca and Jade McGrew, Katie, Isaac, and John Pease, a sister Sandra Potter of Missouri, three brothers Eugene (Jan) Gorsh, Kenneth Gorsh, and Fred Gorsh all of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Pamela Sue Heck, and sister Sheila Serovy.
Darlene was born November 22, 1939, in Cedar Rapids to Fred and Blanche Pollet Gorsh. She married
Larry Heck on November 20, 1959 in Hiawatha, Iowa. He died April 18, 2002. She worked in assembly at Rockwell for over 25 years retiring in 1995. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, garage sales, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
Howard "Bud" K. Heefner

Howard "Bud" Heefner, 87, of Hiawatha, died Friday April 30, 2010 in St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10:00 AM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Marion, by the Rev. Randy Bobzien. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9:00 AM at the church on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife Darlene Heefner, two sons, Duane (Anne Marie) of Marion, Allen H. Heefner (Sandy) of Springville, and a step daughter, Terri Spangler (Mike) of Spring Grove, Illinois, 5 grandchildren, Brian Heefner (Angel) of Cedar Rapids, Mark Heefner (Kristy) of Marion, Dixie Benge (Kent) of St. Louis, Missouri, Shelly Spangler (Reuben) of Spring Grove, Illinois, Perry White (Dalene) of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Faye Heefner, a brother, Vernon Heefner and a sister, Helen Prins.
Bud was born April 2, 1923 in Toddville, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Bertha Oliphant Heefner. He married
Faye McBurney in January of 1945 in Toddville. She died in November of 1974. He then married
Darlene Hall in May of 1981 in Des Moines. Bud was an electrician for the Longview Fibre Company in Cedar Rapids retiring in 1988. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion where he was a trustee for over 20 years. His hobby was enjoying photography and spending time with family and friends. Bud served in the Navy during World War II as a Pharmacy mate.

Hannah Elizabeth Hoech

Hannah Elizabeth “Liz” Hoech, 23, was called home by her Heavenly Father, whose loving wisdom we cannot fully understand but can only trust. She died suddenly in a car accident, April 29, 2010 in Henry County, IA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha. Rev. Daniel Krueger will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Hannah was born in Cedar Rapids on October 11, 1986. She was a 2005 graduate of Washington High School and earned a BA in Linguistics from the University of Iowa in 2009. She was a gifted writer with plans for graduate school and a career as a secondary school humanities teacher. Hannah’s love, wit, and creativity touched many lives.
Hannah is survived by her parents Robert and Cheryl Hoech of Cedar Rapids, her grandmother Vivian Doerr of Rolla, MO; 11 aunts and uncles; 48 cousins; and numerous cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Fred and Dorothea Hoech and Robert M. Doerr and by her aunts Nesta Hoech Lenhart and Peggy Doerr.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Robbie Lee Horsburgh, 85, of 3045 Autumn Dr. in Marion, the home of her daughter, died there on Wednesday April 7, 2010. Services at 9:00 AM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia McInerney of Chatham, Illinois and Suzanne (James) Halley of Marion. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas Fehrenbacher, Major Michael Halley, Michele McGuire and Angela Beaudet; six great grandchildren, William, Catherine, Nicholas, Halley, Gannon and Paige. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Robbie was born on July 12, 1924 in Maybank, Texas, the daughter of Robert and Argus Lamb Nesmith. She married
Arthur R. Horsburgh on August 26, 1950 in Houston, Texas. Art died in 2009. Robbie was a secretary for the Shell Oil Refinery and Gulf Oil for several years and later became a full time homemaker. She was a proud member of the D.A.R. and enjoyed family camping trips. Robbie and her husband travel the world including 14 ocean cruises. Robbie was a true southern lady who will be greatly missed by her loving family.
Memorial donations may be given to Mercy Hospice in Robbie’s name.
