Patricia E. Holets, 86, of 508 37th St. NE. died Tuesday March 9, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a long illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after Noon on Saturday. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son Kevin of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Shelley (Jim) Holets-McCormack of Waukegan, Illinois and a brother Thomas Easterly of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a sister, Shirley Von Behren.
Patricia was born on October 28, 1923 in Olin, the daughter of Charles and Thelma Miller Easterly. She married
Vernon L. Holets on September 1, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1993. Patricia was a secretary at Mutual Fire and Auto Insurance Co. and retired from there after more than 17 years of service. She was a member of New Encounters and a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Patricia enjoyed gardening, watching and collecting old movies, and traveling with friends and family throughout the United States. She also enjoyed going to plays, the symphony and supporting many other community activities. Patricia was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

David "Dan" Hoffa

David “Dan” Hoffa, 52, of 8601 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, died Monday March 1, 2010 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Sammy’s Lounge, 5519 Center Point Rd NE, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother; Marilyn Colleen Hoffa of Cedar Rapids, a brother; Mike (Annette) Hoffa of Lebanon, New Hampshire, a sister; Belinda (Kevin) Loux of Center Point, a sister in law; Julie Hoffa of Rochester, Minnesota, 7 nieces and nephews, 3 great nieces and many friends who were a second family to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald F. Hoffa and a brother, Gregory A. Hoffa.
Daniel was born October 23, 1957 in Des Moines, the son of Gerald and Marilyn Hoffa. The family moved to California for 7 years before making their home in Cedar Rapids. David graduated from Washington High School and worked for the past 15 years as a welder at Terex Corporation. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan and a NASCAR Fan with a favorite driver of Denny Hamlin. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and time spent with family and friends. He loved being with people and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Mercy and Iowa Blood and Cancer Care. A special thanks is extended to Rebecca and Sarah.

Donald "Jr." Hegarty

Donald “Jr.” Hegarty, 74, of 311 Sunset Dr. in Stanwood died
Saturday February 27, 2010 at the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab after a long illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Randy Kruse will officiate. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Joann, two sons, Pastor Randy (Julie) Kruse of Stanwood, and Gregory (Beth) Hegarty of Cabot, Arkansas, two daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Gutwiler and Jill (Todd) Sawyer all of Stanwood; a brother, John (Trudy) of Cedar Rapids and two sisters, Winifred Becker of Florence, Alabama and Mary (Gerald) Riedel of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michelle, Grant, Jessy, Rachel, Tyler, Nathan and Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jr. was born on September 7, 1935 in Cedar County, the son of Donald and Frances Springer Hegarty. He married
Beverly “Joann” Lala on February 7, 1964 in Dubuque. Jr. was the manager of Stanwood Skelgas for many years and was the owner and operator of the Clarence Motor Co. He later founded Junction Auto Sales in Lisbon, and owned car washes in Lisbon and Stanwood as well as Lisbon Auto Body.
Jr. was a former member of the Lions Club. He was a longtime volunteer firefighter in Stanwood and was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Stanwood.
Jr. enjoyed his many entrepreneurial endeavors but especially the time he spent with his friends and beloved family.

Kenneth R. Hansen

Kenneth R. Hansen, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at the home of his daughter, Friday, February 19, 2010. Services: 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by Mary Bryan with military services. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his children, Jane (Dave) Williams and Kerry (Susan) Hansen, all of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Erin Hansen; and three step grandchildren, Shelene, Nathan, and Sam Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 56 years, June.
Kenny was born July 11, 1923 in Cedar Rapids to Einer and Ruth Hansen. He graduated in 1942 from Franklin High School. He served in WWII in the 8th Air Force, 96th bombardment group in the European theater on a B-17. He married
June Weaver in Cedar Rapids on October 27, 1945. She died in 2001. Ken worked all his life in the two way radio, TV, and telecommunications industry. He worked for Communication Engineering and Sound Inc. and Telecom, retiring in 1988. After retirement he worked for the Cedar Christian Church where he assisted with building construction. Kenny had the ability to design almost anything and enjoyed helping his family and friends. His interests included yardwork and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Kenny was a 63 year member of Cedar Christian Church and a 65 year member of the American Legion Hanford Post #5.

Lois Viola Holliday

L. Viola Holliday, 84, of 1056 H Ave. NW died Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. Services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:00 AM on Friday. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, David (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, two daughters, Donna (Jerry) Hare of Hideaway, Texas, Deb (Ed Dudley) Kloos of Central City, and four sisters, Dorothy, Doris, Mary and Shirley. She is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and one brother.
Viola was born on March 19, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Ora Kennedy Kidder. She married
Carrol D. Holliday on Sept. 30, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2003. Viola worked at M.N.B and Armstrong’s Dept. Store in housekeeping as well as a day care provider for many years. She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible. Viola enjoyed gardening, listening to music and especially time spent with her beloved family. A memorial fund has been established in Viola’s name.
Judy M. Hudson

Judy M. Hudson, 68, of 1524 5th Ave. SE. died Wednesday January 13, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.
Survivors include three daughters Penny (Kim) Dake of Coggon, Patty Hills of Alburnett and Carrie Jones of Cedar Rapids, three sons, Robert Coover Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Arthur Campbell of State Center and Robert Campbell of Oelwein and one sister Sandra Hudson of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and her two best friends, Teddy and Pat.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald Lee Boots, and a son, Johnny James Campbell.
Judy was born on August 28, 1941 in Olive, Ok. the daughter of Hershel and Viola Latham Hudson. She married
John Campbell in 1958 in California. They were later divorced. Judy enjoyed Indian pictures and all kinds of Indian memorabilia. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial fund has been established in Judy’s name.
