Ruth Lovelle James, 90, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Willow Gardens Nursing Home in Marion, following an extended illness. Services: Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation on Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.
Survivors include three daughters, Maralene James of Cedar Rapids; Bonne (John) Christenson of Austin, TX; and Dee Ann (Phillip) Thompson of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Chris Ewoldt of Cedar Rapids; Eric (Amy) Christenson of Omaha, NE; Heather Christenson of Denver, CO; and Samantha Christenson, also of Denver, CO; two great grandchildren, Benjamin James Christenson, Caroline Ruth Christenson, and a step-great granddaughter Kaley all of Omaha, Nebraska.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Delmar James, who passed away in 2000, and 7 brothers and sisters, Neoma Sanders, Leona Klaus, Eula Mae Van Tomme, Clyde Gilbreaith, Earl Gilbreaith, Virgil Gilbreaith, and Vina Martin.
Ruth was born on November 7, 1921, in Barnes City, Iowa, the youngest child of David and Bessie Gilbreaith. She married
Delmar James on January 24, 1940, in Lancaster, Missouri. She was a member of First Christian Church in Cedar Rapids. Ruth was active in helping her husband in their jewelry store in downtown Cedar Rapids for approximately 50 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who always made an impression on others with her sweet personality and her kindness. Ruth’s life was built around her dedication and love for her family and we will miss her immensely in the days ahead, but we take comfort knowing that she is now home with the Lord, and reunited with her husband, for eternity.

Howard Beverly Johnson

Howard Beverly Johnson Jr., 85, a resident of Cedar Rapids for over 45 years died on August 28, 2012 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Davenport, IA. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by Rev. Fred Darbonne. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are his children, Howard B. Johnson III and wife Dana of Rock Island, IL, Michael E. Johnson and wife Shelly of Wichita, KS; Mark S. Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, and Larissa Johnson; Jessica, Lyndi; Chelsie, Emma, Evan, Hannah, Lydia, Bethany, Andrew, Luke, Adelyn, Jacob, Gabriel ; and his sister, Barbara of Springfield, IL.. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian in 2010 and son David in 1991.
Howard was born October 30, 1926 in Springfield, IL the son of Howard B. and Mary Lively Johnson. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He was united in marriage to Marian Rosenbaum on June 27, 1953 in Peoria, IL
He was a Mechanical Engineer working for 12 years at Westinghouse in Lima, OH, for one year for Cherry Burrell and later for twenty years at Quaker Oats, both located in Cedar Rapids. Outside of work and when he was healthy Howard Jr’s interests included stereo photography and keeping of fresh water aquarium fish. His family miss him greatly.

Linda Kaeberle Wolrab Junkins, passed away Sunday February 3, 2013 at her home following a valiant 5 year battle with breast cancer. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Paula Roby. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Linda was born in Worthington, Minnesota on September 21, 1949. She attended grad school at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School in Fulda, Minnesota and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1960 where she attended Jefferson High School and participated in numerous dramatic rolls together with her thespian family. Following graduation Linda attended the University of Iowa and traveled extensively before returning to Cedar Rapids where she worked as an assistant to the children’s buyer at Killian’s Department Store and modeled in numerous fashion shows as well as making several television commercials. She was married
to Glenn Wolrob in 1974 and had a son, Matthew in 1977. The family lived in Mt Vernon where Linda became an EMT paramedic and volunteered for the Mt. Vernon-Lisbon Area Ambulance Service. Following that she was employed by Area Ambulance Service. Her favorite employment however was with Amenity Hospice, later known as Hospice Compassus where she was employed until her health made it impossible. Linda’s sense of humor was infectious. Her loyalty boundless and her spirit light until the end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Larrayn Kaeberle and her identical twin sister Lana. She is survived by her son, Matthew, a sister, Claudette (Pat) Roby, a brother, Stephen Kaeberle and her canine companions, Sassy, Dante and Piper. It is with a mixture of sorrow and joy that we imagine Linda’s reunion with her parents and twin.
The family would like to extend their profound thanks to Dr. Gorsch and his clinic for 5 years of uncompromising care and devotion.

Vernon A. Jones, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, Iowa.
A memorial service celebrating Vernon’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jorita; daughters, Karen (Curt) Jamieson of Robins, Jan (Rick) Netolicky and Pamela (Tom) Kurtz both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Michele (Bruce) Menzel, Bryan (Jessica) Netolicky, Greg (Emily) Netolicky, Chad (Kelly) Netolicky, Zach (girlfriend Emily Washburn) Naggatz, Travis (Lindsey) Naggatz, and Austen Naggatz; great-grandchildren, Jae, Ty, Sophia, Gus, Hank, Max, Aleah and Tyler; and special pet Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leighton, Gerald and Edwin.
Vernon Allan Jones was born August 25, 1925, in Hillsboro, Texas, the son of William and Clyde (Harrington) Jones. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On October 17, 1955, he married
Jorita Skipworth in Kaufman, Texas. Vernon was an electronics engineer for many years at Rockwell Collins and was extremely proud of his contributions to the Apollo Space Program. Following retirement he owned Jones Old Time Radio, a repair service for Duffy’s Classic Cars. He will always be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Hospice of Mercy or Linn Manor Care Center, Marion.

Survivors include her daughters, Melissa (Steven) Cotton of Bettendorf and their son, Griffin, and Jennifer (Darryl) Robinson of Overland Park, KS and their children, Maddison and DJ; her loving sister, Katie (Bill Thompson) Guertin of Waterloo; a nephew, Michael Guertin; and great niece and nephew, Grace and Jack Guertin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Dena Wach and a nephew, Torrey Olson.
Jacquie was born March 10, 1947 in Waterloo. She was a reading teacher at St. Pius Elementary School for many years before her retirement. Jacquie had a love of nature and enjoyed spending time in her garden. In addition, Jacquie was passionate about creating angel artwork and authoring original pieces of writing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Mercy, the doctors and staff at the University of Iowa, and her friends and colleagues at St. Pius Elementary School for their care, compassion and support.
Memorials will be directed to cancer research.
William "Bill" H. Johnson

William “Bill” H. Johnson, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from an aneurysm. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1 from 4 to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery will follow the service with Military Rites.
He was born on April 23, 1927, the youngest of seven children to E. Leola and Albert H. Johnson. He was lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, with the exception of the time he spent in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. On September 10, 1954 he married
Marguerite “Peggy” Williams in Cedar Rapids. During his years of work, he was employed at Wilson Meat from 1959-1979; then he began employment with the City of Cedar Rapids (Street Department) in 1980; where he retired in 1989. He always enjoyed sharing a good joke with others.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; and his daughter, Kathy of Cedar Rapids; two sister-in-laws, Wanda Johnson and Ruth Darling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all six siblings: L. Earl Darling, Ray Darling, Howard Johnson, Donald “Scottie” Johnson, Frances Beaupre, and Ruth Graham.
